Has anyone been playing this yet? Came out today. Curious what the feedback is. I thought it would have been a hot topic today.

I've had it downloaded for a while and have been meaning to play it. Maybe tonight. I'll report back if so.

There are so many games that just came out

I've been playing it a bit. What can I say? It's Need for Speed. I'm happy though that they've allowed you to play up to 200 fps though. I'm not sure if it's capped at that, but not like I have a 200+Hz monitor.

Wow, this came out with practically no notice...

Is it a worthy NFS game? I haven't played the last few because they were garbage.

This review mimics the rest I've come across. I was really looking forward to this game too.......

I played it on XBOX ONE. It wasn't very good. Stopped playing somewhere after 5-6 missions. The drifting sucks ass.

I've owned every NFS game since #3 and I imagine I'll probably get this one, too. They're mindless fun, and I still appreciate an arcade-style racer.
If this drops to $30, I'm on it ASAP.
Had they not delayed the PC version for so long I probably would have bought it at full price during the Holiday season. Now I've mostly lost interest.

I have it on PS4. It was pretty fun, but the rubber banding AI can be infuriating - like in past games. Some of the later races require you to race absolutely perfectly to win. I have been waiting for it to release on PC so I can trainer my way through to the end of the game and beat it, I have very little time for video games these days and can't spend all evening trying to beat one race like I could in my college days.

Will double-dip and grab it on PC soon.

I also wanted to mention the customization really is great (albeit limited on some cars) and the graphics are gorgeous.

The problem with rubber band AI is that you don't need to be perfect. In fact, being perfect can actually hurt you. There have been times in previous NFS games where, when I won, I actually was a minute or two slower in my race than previous instances where I lost.

Yeah I've noticed that too, it's pretty annoying honestly. They really need to do it a different way. I was playing the 2012 NFS that Origin gave away a month ago or so and noticed its far easier winning the races by staying in the middle of the pack. Staying in 3rd or 4th until the last lap it was always pretty easy to pull ahead then.

That review in a minute format is awesome, wow.

I'll get this when it's $20-30CAD. $90CAD is a joke for what this game looks like. Also I imagine getting the Steam controller working (for Steam link) will be a pain.

If someone creates a Steam Controller profile in Steam, you can just copy it. You don't even need Big Picture mode. Just name the game appropriately when adding a Non Steam game to Steam, and it will be recognized. I'm in the Steam Beta so it might be different for regular Steam builds.

I forgot Origin existed. I forgot to buy Plants vs Zombies 2, and also forgot this game was coming out.

Damn EA. Is a few extra bucks for microtransactions worth losing your audience?

Bought it , downloaded it. Played for about 4 hours roughly. Went back to origin to get a refund. Steaming pile of shit game. But this is just my opinion about it. Do your research about spending money on this game , i was expecting a better need for speed underground but it just felt clunky and terrible.Honestly rather load up GTA V and jet through the city then race on this NFS title.

Sucks, because I'd really like to see a modern, decent arcade street racer. I wish they'd make another Midnight Club for PC...MC2 was one of my favorite racers.

how is this game compared to NFS Rivals?

It's different. The game takes place at night, like the Underground series, whereas Rivals was in daytime. The other main difference is that the game relies heavily upon drifting, and far less upon just outracing your opponents. I'm not that far in, but about 1/2 the races so far are beating a drifting score. That is, you have 2 miles to score 45000 points, and the points only come via drifting. You could come in last place and still win, or first place and still lose. Rivals was all about just winning races.

Another difference is collectibles are throughout the game. What I mean by this is that you're driving around, and a car part might be hidden somewhere in the city. Explore the city manually and you'll find upgrades. You also get upgrades through leveling. And you can get upgrades through beating certain challenge races.

Other than that, the games do share an open city to drive around from event to event. And it's always online, so you'll be in a game with 3 other players. (No pausing.)

I think it was Underground 2 that had a bunch of drift challenge "races" in it. That was the series trying to find a place in a world where GTA and Driver had already reinvented open world driving games.

is it possible to set the game to single player offline like NFS Rivals? I don't care for the online racing thing where anybody can jump into my session.

When are they gunna fucking drop that rubber band shit?!

Seriously. As soon as I realise a racing game is rubber-banding, I then know that racing fast and perfectly won't be rewarded and so I'll just restart the race, sit still and count to 20 after the race starts to make the game profile me as a noob, then race and have a piss easy time as it's now really forgiving.

...But not fun.

EVERY. FUCKING. GAME.

hopefully Forza Horizons lands on PC, and makes this the last shit NFS title. would love to see the series come back to life once it has competition, or finally get killed off. just no more of this shit.

This game is really easy, if you don't crash. There are maybe 1 or 2 races that are actually difficult due to some BS from the AI, but most of them are very doable. You don't have to "cheese" it either, I stayed in first for almost all the races the entire time and never had rubber banding issues. One of the speed trial ones (the ones where you set a fast lap in x amount of time) is BS and the one race with the mechanic chick is also pretty tough. Maybe the PC version doesn't have the rubber banding fix the console versions got though.

Also, grip is trash in this game, so never use grip tires. Either use regular ones or one of the lower tier drift tires. Having a second car tuned for drifting is hilarious, I basically get a higher score in the first 2-3 corners than the AI does in the entire race.

I'd assume they're the same. One of the speed trial ones at the very end, the first time I managed 34 seconds and placed 5th. I finally won it when I had a pretty overall terrible run where my fastest time was 42 seconds. Overall, the game's not that difficult though. But quite a few achievements didn't unlock, and I don't really feel like playing from the beginning for them.

Must be an issue on PC with the achievements, I got the platinum trophy on PS4. The only time the game gets "hard" is if you crash which is how most of the recent NFS have been.

Crashing made the cars actually slow down. On more than a few occasions, I crashed with under 1/2 a mile to go being in 2nd or third place and managed to pull off a win. I heard some other people had trophies not unlocking on the PS4 either from the Origin boards.

I bought this game on ps4 when it first came out. Once I got to the $12000 races it became frustratingly difficult. I eventually had to quit the game or my controller was going to wind up hitting my TV at a high force.
It recently got added to the EA vault. I installed it for giggles to see if it looked better graphically. Once again the frustrations creeped up and I couldn't continue playing it.

I got a new desk for my computer, which allowed me to finally mount my Fanatec CSR securely. I was using it for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Once I finished that game I decided to give NFS a shot with a wheel, fully expecting to finally uninstall the game after getting pissed off again with a wheel.

Lo and behold I have completed the game and had a blast playing it with a wheel. Game is soooo much easier and more enjoyable. It is a breeze to dodge traffic, I feel so much more in control. The events I struggled on with a pad, I completely destroyed using a wheel. The only times I ever failed was when a car came literally out of -nowhere- and any human would never have the reaction time required to avoid it. *edit* I remember attempting certain races over 7 times in a row just trying to complete them on PS4.

Drifting events were very fun too, I was worried that they may be a pita. I am definitely looking forward to the sequel whenever it comes out on PC.

Here's some footage from the next Need for Speed game:

I'd say it looks similar to Rivals, but with a little Burnout flair and more plot elements like the Crew and Underground had.
I know sim fans will probably hate it, but I like the arcade-style racers like this.

Skeptical but hoping for the best despite some of the cheese.

I really want a new Burnout game. ;)
