Looks easy to install; and break off as well. All one needs are steel cutters, or even a garden sheer. But ifcourse
students wouldnt cut the cord in a college library; nor would they raise a desk to swipe the laptop and run off with cables
attached.

I was hoping for a way to lock the laptop, but I guess a metal safe is the best option.

Well of course all someone needs are some big ass cable cutters. For a normal wood frame house all you need us a few stern kicks to bust in, or throw a brick threw a locked window. This is to dissuade EASY theft in public places, or in a workplace to keep things from walking away. If you are considering putting your laptop in a damn safe, then you have higher security needs than most.

Make sure you encrypt the drive.

Use sand paper to rough off the bottom of the laptop (lowest grit is better) then use construction adhesive. Something like PL premium should work.

No, don't actually do this unless you want to use a sawzall to take part of the desk with you when you want to move it.

Locks only slow down a thief enough to allow it to possibly be caught in the act.
