Should I upgrade to Windows 10?

I got that "Get Windows 10" icon sitting in my system tray.

Using Windows 7 Professional currently.
I have no issues at all with Win 7 Pro and everything is working just fine.

I'm scared to take the dive. :bag:

My worst fear is that I'll attempt an upgrade and then get a BSOD and can't go backwards or forwards !

The upgrade system is not perfect but relatively safe. Before you upgrade you should be backing up all of your critical files anyways. Or have a backup image handy in the event that something goes wrong.

As far as upgrading, it is just a preference. I migrated over 10 boxes to W10 In the last 6 months.

Each installation requires tweaking, but overall I am happy. I even have a old netbook running it. All the way up to my newest skylake 6700k based system.

W10 is fine. Edge is still buggy (so I'm using it less now) and sleep sometimes doesn't work but then sleep has never worked in Windows.

Unless you enjoy troubleshooting and eventually doing a clean reload, I would advise against it. If you really wish to go through with it, you may now with newer versions perform a clean install using the Media Creation Tool and your 7 key. I have seen way too many botched upgrades (bit of job security I guess). It will also not perform as well as a clean installation and has the potential to be slower than your perfectly fine running 7 installation.

Image / clone your drive first and then do the 10 upgrade if you're curious. Personally I'm waiting for a long time before trying it. My Win 7 machines work flawlessly and have for a long time. I see no need as there are no features that interest me in 10. I'd actually rather go to 8.1 if I had to or an enterprise version of 10 with all the crap removed.

I work on PCs all the time and the ones with 8.1 and 10 seem to have more issues than 7 ever did. Especially around updates. Office seems like it has similar issues after 2010. I see weird issues all the time related to updates that seem to affect 2013 and 2016 more often.

I took the dive this weekend. Win7 Ultimate to Win10 Pro. Captured an image first, just to be safe.
Upgrade was completely flawless. Zero issues.
Upgrade process took about an hour.

My mother's pc got force upgraded during a reboot. All I'm saying is eventually it won't be your choice.

Win 10 has some NICE features but the spyware integrated into the OS is a big downfall. The upgrade on all of my tablets was trouble free
