Multi-Network question

I was thinking about snagging up a couple of those Ubiqity long range WiFi AP's to connect up a friends house about 10 miles away, so he could share in my NAS goodness, my question is what would be the best way to do this? I have TWC and my own cable modem, and a Netgear R7000 on my network, and he has TWC and their own cable modem/router/phone setup, what would I need besides the AP's between us to allow our internal networks to talk, and not mess with each of our own internet connections? was thinking about getting some multi-wan routers, one per house but not sure if that will work.

You aren't going to use a wireless access point to achieve this. Check out their nano station or other gear. I wish I could offer more advice but I haven't used most of their gear. I believe you are going to need LOS between the two places.

It may be easier to setup a VPN for only your NAS network and some access rules. This makes the most sense if you have broadband speeds that will accommodate.

I would do a VPN connection between the houses over the internet, wifi would be a PITA at 10 miles

Well looking closer at a map, we seem to be 1.2 miles away, and I know its not just an AP, I just couldn't remember the name of it. Ubiqiti has devices that are more then just an AP, like this Amazon.com: PowerBeam M5 500 AC: Computers & Accessories it can supposedly go 25k LOS and up to 450Mbps. just wondering what I would need to do to make sure our networks can talk to each other, and not mess with our WAN connections.

Also my upload is only 25Mbps not sure how well that might work for what we want, and would rather have a link not constrained by my upload or his.

Sure you could do it. Assuming you have absolutely clear LOS, flat terrain(zero trees/houses), and a 40ft mast at both ends.
