While it is kinda cute to watch these two play, I agree with the author of this article...this could be the beginning of the end.

To be perfectly frank, we have very mixed emotions about the video you’re about to watch. Is this how it begins? The robots trick us into letting our guard down by acting all cute and playful. Then the next thing you know, bam! Skynet becomes sentient and we’re battling real-life Terminators.

We've poured a metric ton of money into a robot that can prance! What do you think?!?!?!

Nothing great about this. Still under remote control.. Doesn't look like my processing done on the robot. It's still slow to turn... Sure these things can move fast in a straight line. To outrun them, just walk around it. lol.

this is a 4 legged drone, not a robot. guy with the controller gives it away. let that sucker run autonomously.... see what happens.

It has a lidar unit (from the looks of it), so I don't think that would be too far off. He maybe controlling the direction of travel, but I'd be willing to bet that it's doing its own balance and terrain interpretation on board.

Big Dog *can* operate completely autonomously but for most of the demo videos you see it in human control mode for safety and other feature demonstrations. Similar to how Google's autonomous car project works.

You'd be freaking out too if nobody except yourself recognized an evil demon spawn as it casually walked around.

Is it just me, or does anyone else picture a LMG strapped to that thing while it patrols a desolated urban area?

I was pleasantly surprised to be disappointed that the robot didn't zap the dog and make puppy chow out of him.

glad to see that dog didnt go all punk ass and run away. he stayed and alerted, just like the dogs in the future will have to do when T1000s show up.

and yes, the potential lethality of that thing is pretty apparent. imagine it with high def cameras able to run around a battlefield or potential battlefield gathering intelligence and leaving ordanance, explosives and laying down covering fire/artillery. I think they've come a long way since "Big Dog" first debuted. Its not totally silent yet but you can see where this is going. wait until they make them 2 stories high and put people in them = WARHOUND TITAN!
