I hope off teamspeak for a single match. Take my Iowa. Evemy CV sinks me with 9 bomber waves before I even get to fire a shot off. Our CV parked his fighters over an island and never moved them. Team was erased and only cost the enemy team 1 cruiser and 1 destroyer.

There should be no limit to negative karma in a day.

Me and another Iowa sailing east on map with a division of Ategos. Soon as the enemy fires a shot in our direction, cruiser division turns and runs behind the spawn. Both Iowas get shima nuked. :)

Not a single cruiser or DD forward of the battleships. Enemy shima gets within 7km and you can guess how it goes.

I am officially 1 win 14 losses today.

Until shooting down planes makes REAL money, this will never change.

win/loss means absolutely nothing with this crappy matchmaking system.. all you can do is hope you're teams a level above shit tier so you can hopefully carry them..


had a game earlier tonight, team was utter trash because they were scared of a NC that refused to leave their spawn.. luckily the enemy team was worse than mine and was able to pick off 2 of their 3 BB's and 2 of their cruisers with my amagi.. i legit took 0 damage while i sat in the middle of the open area where the A cap point would normally be on the northern lights map or what ever it's called with 4 enemy DD's 2 enemy BB's and 3 enemy cruisers all within 14km of me..

but yeah post your game name, theres usually at least 1 of us online at any time.. only annoying part is we use 4 different TS servers so it's a pain in the arse finding which one some one is on, lol. and theres a group of us 6-7 people that try to do sync drop games with multiple divisions which makes it quite interesting. cough cough derzki's cough..

oh and i finally had a decent game in the ognevoi (not really the enemy team was even more retarded then the team i just described)

solo'd an atlanta that beached himself(dunno maybe it was one of business "i love beaches" 6's viewers :p ) lost my rear gun right after that to that T6 chinese DD and spent the next 10 minutes shooting at a colorado with my 1 remaining gun til it finally died and capped the enemy base..

disclaimer, that XP is based on 1.5x first win + 50% flag + 300% free xp flag..

That's why you have a better chance of playing with 1-2 good people, since you know you're bringing some more to the team as a whole. :) Though even then sometimes MM smacks you in the face.

Yeah when it's that many it's just MM screwing you. Division up with some of the people here, there's only so much MM can do.

This game for most people goes in cycles. Last weekend I had a nice run of 11 or 12 wins in a row, and something like 16/18, some solo, some in divs. Then the next day I lost 8 of 10.

I really think this is by design.
 
Is it just me, or has WoWs as an entity slowed to a crawl since the update? Lot of grumbling in game since the update, lower counts on the servers, etc....

Video posting to YouTube has all but evaporated from the usual sources.

server pop feels lower than normal.

if pings could say under 100ms, I would merge NA and EU

Got reported for this by a york and a myoko who were tanning their broadsides in the sun the entire match....feelsgoodman....even though it was just an average match.

server pops down but mostly because i think a lot of people have already grind their way to the ships they want and theres not much of a reason to continue playing beyond that point.. team battle was an attempt to solve that problem, only it's during a terrible TZ. ranked is a complete joke. hell if it wasn't for playing with people from [H] i probably would of stopped playing WoWS months ago.

I'm primarily a DD driver, looks to me like WG is really getting ready to piss in my cornflakes.

My life expectancy will be around 30 seconds as soon as every ship within 11.7 km starts opening up. I'll be running away with no smoke to hide in, with my escape hampered by the necessity to zig zag, as I'm hunted down by 30 knot cruisers on a course straight up my ass. The best teams will work together to maintain near constant radar coverage.

I'm not sure if WG thinks all these things out. As a DD, I'm not going forward into the insta delete zone to spot. And I hate this part, but I probably won't spend most of my time trying to contest caps the way I do now.

In the end, cruiser drivers will now have to be the spearhead because savvy DD captains won't assume the risk. Many DD drivers will shift to the IJN DD's for the long lance torps, and that's where the changes don't make sense.

Just a few things fixed.

Update 5.3.1 - General Gameplay Discussion

Fixes and Changes

Background darkening in the tech tree now works correctly.
Compact view carousel is no longer reset to normal after the battle.
Fixed incorrect display of the status of offline players (it used to display 22 days of absence, even if the player just left).
Fixed incorrect message "The season will start in 0 seconds" for the players in the squad.
Fixed the lack of an option to invite players to a Team in private chat.
Number of players in Team now properly turns black when it reaches the limit of 7 of 7.
Fixed incorrect display of the Season 1 flag in the Profile tab.
Fixed broken dialog windows & other errors in Port.
Fixed a video card utilisation issue.
Fixed errors with graph in player's profile.

Well, maybe I'll finally be able to see what is causing InvisiFire. I'm really getting tired of getting shot at by open ocean (no smoke, no rocks, no nothing). So much for becoming visible after firing.

agree, i don't think it's going to change a whole lot, only ones truely effected by it are USN DD's and well everyone trains AFT on USN DD's so meh.

Also I have noticed picking people off is easier than it was before as most people do not play their roles. I also notice I have to go after DD's in a BB more since CAs apparently don't know that is their job and they all hang around the edges of the damn map.

the last part is definitely true, i have more DD kills in my battleships then i do in my cruisers.

I can understand both sides.

There are terrible BB players as well, in fact, I find more terrible BB players than I do terrible Cruisers, when I ask for an escort, I usually get at least 1 person that will come with me on my BB, on the other hand, when I charge to take a cap, I see the other battleships turn the other way, and run, riding the 1 or 10 line. So you can't expect cruisers to sit around with you and stay behind, even though they will probably live longer and do more damage, when most battleships abandon their goals and go to hide trying to hit everything from 19-21k, out of the cruisers range.
 
MM pairs a stock Iowa, a zao and an AFK midway against a yamato and 5 other TX ships......the enemy TX CV takes my iowa down to 10% health in his first strike and the yamato lands a single shell.....then starts trash talking. This game, some day....

to be fair.. yesterday, me and 2 others, (ME in an amagi, friend in a NC, and other friend in a Mikhail), we are the highest in our team ( 2 T8 bb 2 T7) vs their team... Yamato, Izumo, and 2 other T8 BB....

On top of all of this, I had to go afk 1 minute into the game, and missed the whole match.. We won. losing ony 2 ships, and I survived without taking a hit... Take that for being under tiered by 2, and having one of our flagshisp AFK.

Im not getting the wins I want yet, but Im starting to climb in damage.
Just did this one in my tirpitz 175k and a loss. Our cruisers refused to kill the DDs, instead they rushed the enemy battleships and were erased, enemy DD circled around and took out the rest of our BBs. was s shitshow. I was the only one who pushed the enemy cap. we had a baltimore in our base and an enemy DD entered....the balt just sailed away and ignored it.

The only thing I hate about my Shima is I'm only truly in the fight once every 2.5 min and then for about 20 sec.

I try my best to scout and light the enemy up in the meantime, but I have to be careful. A seen Shima is one dead frickin Shima. my detection is up to 6.6 after the patch and I do not know why.

If I'm being honest, it's all a bit boring. From a fun standpoint, my Benson is more fun I think. I may go ahead and get my Fletcher before I do the Zao. I'm about 50k from the Fletcher. A LOT further from the Zao :)

Should be pretty simply to figure out, there are only 3 variables. 3% camo, concealment module and concealment expert captain skill. You are missing one of them.

I'd go with the dd, I was completely unimpressed with the Zao after playing it on the test server. I have a hindenburg already and it is by far a better ship all around.

I have all but the captain skill, but I'm not figuring that in yet.

It should be 6.1 with everything BUT the 5 point skill, and 5.4 with the skill. Why I'm at 6.6 I don't understand. I have everything else.

every damn shell a new orleans fired on my ibuki cit me as well :X no matter what angle i was at.

That's how I feel in my Iowa vs a Yamato. :) I bounce at a perfect broadside vs it, regardless how I am angled it citadels me. I've been playing Fuso more, I might sell my Iowa, I think I might just leave her in dock in case she gets buffed.

I have trouble finding fun ships at high tier. I am thinking I'll enjoy the Hidenburg since I like the Roon. Still can't get over how much better the Roon is at everything compared to the Iowa... Fletcher can be fun as well.

T6 I have my Fuso, T7 Atlanta, T8 Lexi, T9 Roon, T10 looks like Hidenburg.
 
Shima doesn't get that low compared to T8 & T9 since it's base detection is much higher @ 7.6.

7.6 -3% -10% -10% gives a lowest detection of 5.8.

Right. My point is that's not what it used to be. It used to go down to 5.4. The stories and reviews I read about it and it's 5.4 detection were a guiding factor in my decision to grind to it. That's a pretty damn important .4 :) Especially when you get seen by a Benson or Gearing. You are genuinely fucked in most cases. The fascination with the Shima is slowly starting to wear away for me.

But we're flipping the page for a while. I just got my Fletcher last night :)

The Det/Range of 6.4/9.2 is workable, and we all know how fast the guns are !!!

I did start off with the AFT 4 point skill. Total waste of time. Even with a 2560x1440 2k dislay, what I fire at the left side of the screen can't be seen hitting on the right side. The velocity of the guns is just too low. I'm going to re-do the skills and pick up something else. I do have all the other range enhancements on board so I still got mad range available to me. I can pretty much hide behind shit, pop out, fire a few, then duck back in. Totally different style than the Shima but it's nice to do something different for a change :)

It's a few knots slower, but it seems to me at least that it handles WAY bettter.

Yeah, I got 6 Cits on a CARRIER with AP from a Murmansk last night :)

I think I've been mentioning my Ibuki has been getting one-shot like crazy. Some keep saying I need to learn how to drive it. Well, I may not be perfect but I ain't that damned bad at it. I have to make sure I don my Fireproof Underwear whenever I take that ship out.

I'd give her a 8/10. She's enjoyable to play.

I've got a lot to say about the Montana, eventually, but she's a support BB. There may very well be credibility to her dispersion being stealth buffed but I just need to play her a bit more. All I'll say is that, while there's still plenty of temperamental dispersion moments like any other BB, I haven't seen the Montana's groupings occasionally tighten to this degree since CBT. Looks more like a Zao's groupings from time to time.


With that being said I'll be streaming today (4pm EST) and may get involved in some Team Battles. OP Gaming is actually being featured by WG today for the "Sink us for doubloons" challenge and, while I don't think I'll end up as part of that, it'll be funny to watch. The Sampson, Wickes and Clemson are basically the same ship with more and more offensive capability as you progress. I love using these as a skirmisher/harasser with the guns and then jumping right in on a target like a dog off its leash to unload a pair of mini-torp walls. It's very much a run & gun playstyle and I think it's a hilarious amount of fun, even more when you're in a pack. The Nicholas and Farragut only up the ante and by this time next week I'll have both of those overviews uploaded and maybe the Furutaka as well :D

Zao is planned for March 12th. That'll mark 1 year since my first Warships video (5 kill Erie match in my first game--or second, can't remember) and seems like the best ship to celebrate for that day.

the only thing i've noticed with the montana is it has trouble penning BB's.. i mean i've been full broadside shot by a montana in my amagi and it did jack all for damage to me, and i've also watched business play it and hit BB's full broadside for minimal damage except when shooting another montana which = instant citadel, not exactly sure how that works but what ever. i'm still leaning on there being an issue with how citadel hits work.. either they screwed something up or as usual made another stealth change that we'll never find out about.

I have no trouble at all penetrating BBS with the Iowa or Montana.

Edit: just nailed an Izumo, however.... I don't find the grouping to be much better than before.
