Departing Windows Phone...to ios or android though?

So. Week two with the Iphone. I'll admit, I love it so far. Very great hardware, extremely easy transition that only took me a few hours, really. However, there are some maddening things that I have realized...

1. No way to have texts read over bluetooth automatically? Wow! That is insane that there is no true hands-free option for this phone while driving. Android and Windows Phone have been doing this for yeeeaaars.
2. Music seems to default back and forth between spotify and the music app.
3. You can't change the volume from the lock screen, which is somewhat annoying. Also, I wish you could just volume down all the way to mute the phone...Wouldn't that be handy?

those are the three main things. Smallish issues, really (aside from the bluetooth text thing). Enjoying my experience thus far though. Apps seems to be of significantly higher quality on the iphone than similar apps on WP. Keyboard is also significantly better, aside from having to hit the symbols menu to use commas and periods.

Glad its been a good transition.

For number 1, I think you can still ask Siri to read you your text messages. You have to initiate the interaction though. The upside of this is if you get caught in a group text and everyone replies your phone is not constantly going through the 'You have a new text message, should I .....' Not 100% on this as I am still on WP but my wife has an iP6 and I have been trying to understand how it works when I was contemplating the switch and I believe this to be the case.

Not much help for 2.

For 3, are you trying to keep it from vibrating as well? I would always just leave my iPhone on vibrate so that notifications would not disrupt. If its in my pocket it was innocuous. On a hard surface like a conference room table, not so much. bzzzzzzzzzt. bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt.

I know about the whole "initiate siri" thing, but that kind of removes the whole hands free purpose. I don't like having to hit the button driving. Wonder if they'll update that in the future.

I have a microsoft band, so during work I like to just get notifications through that. It keeps my buzzing or ringing phone from interrupting my appointments, so I prefer the phone to just be on silent.

If that 950xl had of had some sort of wifi sync with Win10, where i could walk into the room and have my phone automatically hook up instead of that dumbass dock, i probably would of had a go at it.

Iphone to me is just too locked up, Android too disorganized. But ill never go back to an iphone. Thats just me. I buy for specs and productivity.

Continuum can be completely wireless, Bluetooth mouse, keyboard and Micracast display.

Then why do we need the dock? Is that just for external monitors without any PC attatched? From what i understood, the dock was needed for anything apart from just plugging it as a USB device etc.

Miracast isn't exactly bullet proof or fast but it can be useful.

Hopefully one day i will get my wish and some standard will come through where things like this can be done via one standard wireless protocol shared among all smart devices....

Wireless display and peripheral connection tech is no doubt going to improve and I would imagine would have to have standards to be practical to implement. How quickly is the only question.
