I think there needs to be some empty placeholder when there's no signature so the buttons don't float up

Also, "more options" is code for 'Go advanced", right? could we keep that?

The above image was inserted using the button and URL.
I have another screenshot I 'uploaded' via [H]s uploader. In 'preview' mode, the link 'show attachment <number>' gives a permissions error. I used the 'thumbnail' on the attached files list, (it's pretty cool)

I'm showing this one to say it seems just right even in a worst case scenario like the one shown with a lot of data (a like and a large sig)

I'll repeat myself about the width of the 'latest post' column in viewing the thread list of a subforum. I'm on 1280x800 and it's way too far to the right IMHO.

Finally, the 'like', 'quote' and 'reply' buttons are better now, but the 'report'' one is in a very prominent place. Perhaps move it to the 'avatar' box? below 'joined' ?

Other than that it's shaping up to be comfy. I don't know if it's placebo but it seems to render snappier on my 1970s laptop with dinosaur clawmarks on it
 
I don't mind it so much but for some reason my phone is not saving the stay logged in flag....
 
can we get a 'Post Reply' or 'Reply to Thread' option at the top of the page as well as the bottom?...it was great having that option previously

I like the overall look...functionality I'm still getting used to...I find I'm not navigating the new site as quick and efficiently as before...I keep reading how Xenforo is great for mobile users but I do hope that the new design is not being catered to mobile users at the expense of regular old computer monitors/TV's...
 
does anyone still feel that the yellow bold test of titles are hard to read? I like that i can tell a different now but i still feel read thread titles is difficult due to the font/color and stuff.

also kyle there is no way to set a user font right? I just feel this AA on test makes it really hard to read and makes it very blurry compared to before.
 
My e-peen is erect with this forum layout. About time [H] has made a roll over to a new GUI layout.
 
the old forum was nice on the eyes, this one isnt as chill, hope it gets better, until then i'll just google instead of searching here
 
The old was far better... the design is a big step backwards.

The primary issue is the font color, it doesn't work on a black or white background. The other issue is the content layout scheme.

Sorry, but whoever set this up needs to be fired, because they have no idea what they're doing.

If this is 100% white than the gray back ground needs to be substantially darker because the text surre looks grayish with a dark gray background to me. It makes my eyes strain to read it. It looks pretty but is not enjoyable to read.

yea no way this text is pure white. Even the test on the black buttons look grayish and i know its not my screen.
 
I really like the new look, nice job Kyle. In particular, I like how the design now fills the window properly however I resize it. It's way better when using the forum in just a corner of a high-res screen. Thanks.

I have been watching your comments for a couple of days now and I have to think that we really have done nothing you like. I woudl have to suggest that you build your own CSS for the site.

Font color has not changed. It is not on a black background. It has been gray always.

ps. the joined dates seems to be shifted(?) for some people. mine for example, is below the word joined, but some others have the date on the same line as the word joined.

No, always gray, but a tad darker. I am going to darken it up to the old color, then see how many people still have issues with it.

You have avatars. Should you want those displayed beside every single post in the forum, you will have do your own CSS for that. There is a user here that has that code already if you want it. Search is your friend.

Text box will not change. There is a light style available if you wish. Click it down in the left hand corner.
 
I wasn't sure about the new design at first, but I'm starting to really like it! Good job Kyle and company

I don't think it's bad per se, just such a shocker because of the length of time we had it the other way. I do think the links could be a little brighter in color but other than that, your eyes will eventually adjust. Good job.
 
no one noticed the jagged edges? why scale down the logo from 1526x378 to 283x70
 
My one and only complaint is its hard to scan threads if I was last to respond...but in a way the alerts takes care of this. The rest is good to me:)

Edit: actually on my pc its fine...On my phone its harder to tell who was the last poster. So I guess its only an issue if the forum detects a mobile device?

The Report button just gives the site a bad vibe usually trolls take care of people out of line....
I never seen any threats
 
It looks ok, but it is just too difficult to determine what threads you have viewed or not, and there is no indication which folder has new content. Usability is a fail.

Its comparable to Notebookreview forum update and slickdeals site update in terribleness.

*The + appears to mean something new was added. Make the + red and not white
*Make read titles thin text and not bold like it is.
*make unread posts stick out verse old posts...there is an enumerable amount of ways to do that. (i.e. Makes the date and time on new posts extra large and different color so getting to newest post is easy to spot. or enlarge the box of a new post....and on and on i can go in ideas to make that intuitive)
*Move the new flag to the left side.
*Make font 100% white
*get rid of this horrible AA on font. It is way to soft and blurry.

I'll add more as i think of them....this UI will make me stop posting because its so muddled.

I strongly prefer the old format, was a classic. This forum is popular because of content and easy to read format, doesnt need a fancy UI
 
Here's a list of my annoyances:
  • Number of pages a thread has only shows when you hover over a thread. By looking at a thread list, it's hard to know which ones are lengthy.
  • Hover effect over threads. Unnecessary.
  • Posts have two date stamps, one at the top (header) and one and the bottom by the report button. Unnecessary.
  • Position of the report button, right in your face style. It's obviously not something that's used a lot so it should be on the side, blended in.
  • New notifications on the side of a post. I know what I've read. Plus, the yellow doesn't look right with the rest of the color scheme.
I think that's all.

I do not like the format as it caused my username to be taken away after being a member for 8 years. RIP.
 
what was wrong with the old format? it was one of the easiest forums to read and it was pleasing to the eye. this seems too shocking and i am already getting eye strain.
 
in my profile under conversations the setup seems kind of strange. for example there is no 'select all' checkbox. unless you select ONE conversation, then this little box pops up to select all. seems kind of peculiar and not very intuitive.

also I can't figure out how to delete conversations, or why all these old conversations have shown up at all (I had deleted them long ago I thought). there use to be a dropdown box with options at the bottom I think.

ps. here is what the join dates look like on my side. this is with ff and reset to default zoom. http://i.imgur.com/khD7cIb.jpg

some are lined up (like the middle one) and some are kind of on another line like the top and bottom.

I think you're right. when I look at the report button, which I assume is 100% black background, the font does not look 100% white. so I guess the font is off-white-ish? so I guess the background color isn't really the issue then. whatever it might be, my vision just wants to slide off of sentences. Like my eyes can't seem to get a solid lock. Really odd and kind of humorous trying to read. It takes me a few attempts :)

I'm going to try the light background and see if my eyes react the same way

edit: the light background is much easier to read. I immediately noticed a difference. not sure why, b/c I assume the font is the same for either theme. the white-ish font on dark seems a lot less crisp compared the the black font on white.

Yes, that is the way it works as it is not set up to ever mass delete messages. Yes, I got PMs from 7 years that reappeared. None of this is a priority to us as conversation box is unlimited in size so it will not impact you negatively.

Yes, some changes being made to the layout currently so some spacing is off.
 
Posting my avatar from my phone was kinda difficult did not want to do all the code right and ended up with the new red x broken image when i posted in the avatar thread... Was able to easily fix it from my pc tho.
 
We went with IPS 4.x for our forum and it's definitely a lot of work switching away from the mess that is VB. XenForo was a contender but it's reliance on 3rd party plug-ins for things that should be part of it's core design turned me off from it. The new look is good but I also echo the sentiments of the OP that it is difficult to discern the difference between new and old posts despite the "new" tag. I'm sure those kinks will be worked out over time.

I don't understand where exactly you cannot discern posts.... Do you mean actually while you are reading the thread replies? Screenshot of what you are looking at?
 
I will say, i like it, i like the smaller text, i like this quick reply box at the bottom, so far so good for me at least!
