What is the best budget GPU available? Brand is irrelevant.

1. Best performance per dollar
2. cheapest as possible.
3. Must have DVI
4. Energy efficient (28nm)
5. Also must be PCIe powered.
I don't think these lenovo's have spare connectors. Checking now.
EDIT: One has no spare connectors while the other has this

Just realized my u2412m does not have DVI-I (DVI-D only) so I have to use DVI-D on all computers so VGA is out on my KVM even though it is DVI-I. @%$&*@$%*

The cheaper the GPU the better but I would like to not literally throw away money. If it is usable cool.

I was planning on getting new GPUs for those rigs once 14/16nm came out but i dont have a choice now which sucks.

I don't know if craigslist might be better for this than brand new.

One your title makes it seem you are looking for the leader and by your criteria you have only one choice. The 750Ti by my knowledge is the strongest GPU that only uses PCI-e power. But it isn't the best bang for your buck in the GPU market.

thanks for that input. So thats the best option in performance for my needs. Is there a cheaper bang for your buck option givent he requirements? Also I just edited and found that one has a single 6 pin so is there 2 options you can give me one thats PCIe and one that is 6 pin?

To clarify i need 2 GPUs 1 with 6 pin and one without

ok is there a sub $100 option? Sorry didn't think the best bang for your buck would be that expensive :D

Yea going by pure TFLOPs (don't have time to get super in-depth in review so sue me :D)

105 for the 750TI which is 1.3TFLOPs

vs 2.3TFLOPS at 200 for that 960.

are their other cheaper options? Right now i am using a 650 in one PC which is slow by tolerable given its not a real gaming rig.

How much better will my options be in May/Summer with the die shrink? I don't use these for gaming but that doesn't mean i wouldn't if it did have a GPU. Am i better off dropping money on a 50 dollar GPU and getting a low/mid range GPU in 4-6 months?

EDIT: there is also a 950 for 140

the newer cards in 14/16nm likely wont be cheap alternatives. As of now the 750Ti is your best option for PCI-e only power. For 6 pins there are a host of options from Nvidia and AMD, just depends on your use for them.

you dont think some low/mid range options will be in the 100-150 range? that are faster and cooler than the current stuff?

The most powerful card that doesn't have a 6 pin is that gtx 750 ti. That's about it. There's one on Amazon for $105. The vanilla 750 should be less than $100 but they look like they were phased out. I don't think you would see much of a difference between it and a 650 anyways.

~800 vs 1300 GFLOPs...fairly large.

Yea i had a hard time finding the 750 and was not competitive so I bought 2 750TIs :/

The Zotac for 105.

More than I wanted to spend but anything slower is completely over priced given what it is.

Anyways, Thanks for the help guys!

Basically you've been given the best advice. The 750TI is your best bet. It's better than your 650 and the card has been built to not require anything but PCI-E power. Basically everything else out right now requires additional power connections or is significantly worse performance-wise.

As for die-shrinks in the near/mid/far future. They're not going to help you on price. The price for the TI is fairly stable, being as it's an older, established card with a VERY specific niche (your niche).

The one thing you need to make sure is your PSU is 300W or above.

If $105-120 is too rich for your blood you're sorta going to just have to go ultra-cheap and get something that you don't want to game on.

http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=0&family=GeForce+700+Series+Family

740's for $85
730's for $60
720's for $50

But, as has been implied, these cards are more or less wastes of money.

And yes, the 960 seems "rich" at $200.
But it's significantly faster than the 950 at $140

If you're hurting for additional PCIe power connectors, build an Auxilary PSU for a video card using an XBox 360 power brick.

Wish we knew what these cards were going to be used for? AMD has some R7 360 cards that can run CrossfireX and are $89 after rebate on NewEgg. When the switch to 14/16nm cards occurs I could imagine it would be cheap to grab a second one as they are being phased out to boost performance. I don't think the 750ti can run SLI like Rvenger said.

The 750ti suggested power supply has a much smaller requirement than the R7 360 though so if upgrading an OEM machine, and not wanting a cheap boost with mGPU at a later date, the 750ti seems to be the way to go.

I guess it all depends on what you're going to be using the cards for. ;)

Best bang for the back which those requierements would definetely fall on the GTX 750 ti FTW card which you can get for a pretty good price used or a GTX 950.

As everyone else said, 750 Ti without power connector (check carefully, some have the connector.)

Or if you want more performance, 950/960 with one of those molex to gpu power adapters.

I bought thus EVGA GTX 750Ti last week. For $99.99 It's tough to beat.

EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB Video Card 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 - Newegg.com

I have a short-money rig I built to leave @ my parents home in Florida. The O/B 8470 AMD chipset (AMD 6600K CPU) was really recent with most games. In the end, I decided I needed to bump-up my 1080P set-up & hence the EVGA GTX750 Ti. I only use this build like 3-4 weeks out of the year. The GTX 750 Ti rocks pretty well & I didn't need to change-out my Corsair CX430M PSU. It's a "complete" win-win for a short coin build.

at one point R280s were selling for $140 after $20 MIR.. Now they are ridiculous priced

I personally love the 290x :)

IDK about love..but it's the best GPU i ever had.Definitely renders better than gtx 970.
Used to millions of "render lines" now there's on every now and then.Pretty smooth.
I'm not up-to-date on 1 pin GPUS..my 1st reaction is 9800gt.
