World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

DD's aren't really a problem in matches that actually have CV's to keep them spotted and restrict their movement. Too bad that CV's are currently rare as hell, I hope we see much more after the patch drops.

the problem is there's maybe 1 in 5 CV players that actually spend the time to spot DD's and even then they don't understand that they can cancel their auto return on bombers/TB's for a minute so i can one shot the friggin DD thats 8km away from me or is trying to hunt them down but is sitting outside detection range of them so no one on the team can actually come save them.. it's even worse T8 and up since all either CV does is try to bum rush the other CV off the start, and which ever one survives then spends the rest of the game trying to horde as much XP as they can and don't give a crap about the rest of the team.

as far as the patch goes, it's not going to change anything for CV's, they're still in a terrible place.

After the first 3X XP weekend... I finally researched the Des Moines! Now I'm torn ... Do I keep The Baltimore? OR sell the Independence and Cleveland (For the captain as well) ? I also have the Kagero to buy, and I'm really close to bo both Izumo and Ibuki (I'll sell the mogami unless they find a way to un-nerf it when AFT goes 139 and under)

Finally got my ARP Myoko. Haven't tried it yet. Should I be getting the module to turn the turrets faster but slows your reload? The review on the world of warships forum said to.

I think the get X kill missions are actually bad for team play. People rush in to get those destroyer kills for the ARP Myoko mission and get shot up by a good portion of the enemy team which you wouldn't normally do if there was no kill destroyer mission. Also I seen players hold fire and then fire when an enemy ship was low on hp to steal the kill when I was shooting the enemy ship the whole time.

I think there are no carriers because they aren't fun. The Bogue is terrible. Clevelands and Omahas shoot up all your planes. Your sort of forced into the 2 fighter 1 bomber because most of the other bogues have this config and if you don't their 2 fighters just eat your planes. Hosho, I found that the enemy carrier if US eats your planes with their superior 6 fighters to your 4 although you can get some torps off with your 2 torpedo bombers sometimes. Does it get any better at higher tiers to be worth toughing it out?

I wouldn't get that module. with most of the IJN Cruisers, you have to make sure your turrets are lined up, so some planning is needed, reducing your fire rate reduces your total damage output.

Had a couple good games with viper last night, we didn't win anything but I think we were the top 2 scorers in just about all of them. Finished with a mad rush up the middle on two brothers, both in murmansk. We both died quickly, but I think between us got 19 cits in about 45 seconds. That's pretty amusing.

After having real trouble over the weekend with very few wins as I was trying to grind my T9 ships...I picked up the T1 Orlan. Its basically the same guns as the Kiev....and the AP is amazing. I think I went 14/0 last night in it. Rolling in so many citadels.

get on with some people from here! or friends if any play. It's one thing to lose alone.. but it's way more fun to lose doing something stupid as a group :D

BTW, I cost us a game yesterday too... we had a slight point advantage with 2 minutes left, and equal caps.. and I got greedy, went for the Kraken, and got torped by a myoko or fletcher :X ,gave them the point lead :XX

I'm not sure why people are hating on the Yorck so much :), I'm actually liking it! it hits hard with HE and long range, and hard at AP short range

If you have a quick way past the Ibuki (aka "Fuck That Ship" :)), then by all means use it. Grinding the others is way less painful.

I'd never sell my Cleveland. it's the ultimate T6 Ranked ship.

The problem is you are getting in on the fun right as they are about to disable Seal Clubbing :)

Sorry, the FUSO is the ultimate Ranked T6 ship :)

Anyway, I'll play the Ibuki, I have a soft spot for the ships everyone hates (Pepsicola, Yorck, and In my future.. Ibuki)

with or without the mission, those people play like that anyways.. there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

as far as the turret speed upgrade, heck no.. i go gun mod 1 AA mod damage control rudder speed. AA range mod on the myoko shreds planes like they never even existed.. while yes the guns are slow on the myoko, the upgrade doesn't help worth a damn on it due to how the guns are laid out on the ship and only make's your damage worse.

well he stumbled into a game with me, bora & synjen, and we promptly got rolled and he got left alone in his iowa against 3 bb's...So he might not relish the idea of playing with other [H] folk.. ;)

I love this game, I really do, but I am blown away with how absolutely mindless the player base is. 1 single Atago just ran my teams two Iowas from a cap and to the edge of the map.

That shit drives me nuts too. 3 caps, and dd's hanging back with the group, or going out into open water to try and torp things. Especially when it's fubuki's with their ridiculously low detection, capping should be their sole purpose.

what is equally shocking, is that someone in an Iowa had no clue what broadside is :D then raged for 20 minutes after eating 4 citadels . buhahahahah
 
That guy was pissed. And seemed to have a lot of interest in the idea of you killing yourself..


These new captain skills have a lot of options, a lot less overlap now with my 2 high point russian captains that rotated kiev/udaloi/murmansk/kutuzov. The DD's need AFT, the cruisers don't (although it helps significantly with kutuzov AA). The T5 skill of preventive maintenance would appear to really help cut down on turret loss on the udaloi now that's it's at -50%, but I'd have to sacrifice demo expert. T2 last stand vs expert marksman is also a close call now.

Tough choices. Probably need to forget about murmansk and just use my derpki captain in that one.
 
Pretty sure this is my best CV match yet in my Ranger. Confederate/High Caliber. You guys were right that US CV > IJN. My avg exp in the Ranger is around 1.7k vs 1.4k in the Hiryu. Also a hell of a lot more consistent. I run the 1TB / 3DB which is a lot of fun vs. DDs. Only 100k from the 5 point +1 plane/squadron skill. 8 torps or bombs at once is going to be a blast. Bahahha

The extra plane is only for dive bombers and fighters IIRC. But still

Yeah, considering 75% of my planes are DB I am ok with that. Burnnn.

As for teams, I might hit up Seafoam's buddy's invite. Problem with most of [H] is besides Chibe I don't see anyone since I play mostly on my work from home days during work hours.

Teams are only T5/6 at the moment, so having a good variety of ships at that tier is probably important.
 
I'm up for Team. I usually run either the ShimaKazi or the KamiKazi R. Yay for 72mph Torpedoes :)

I have lots of other T5/6 stuff...

So is it just me, or does the game feel slower now. Not FPS, but cruising along in a DD at 38 knots, it just seems to take longer to get anywhere.

yeah that is slower, but I mean in the actual game. It just feels like they tweaked some gamespeed variable from 1.0 to 0.85.
40 knots feels like 32-33 knots, but it's not fps (fps is 60-70 just like it's always been) or lag.

Lol yes... While I was alt tabbed posting this he sent some planes after me... Shit down 9... Then hit defensive fire. He was dead 1-2 minutes later.

I get ya. It's the sensation of speed that's missing. 42 knts in my Shima feels like 25 knots.

And my detection range is up to 6.6km. I have no fucking idea why.

Oh, and two CTD's out of 3 games so far.

This is a genuine mess.

I hope it's a bug of some sort and not a design decision, because frankly it cuts enjoyment for me by a fair amount. Playing gunboat dd's should be kind of fast & furious, and it feels like I'm driving a cruiser.
