The Division - officially announced for PC!

yeah it wasn't completely smooth for me at High settings and it definitely wouldn't have been at max settings. might be the difference between your 3770K and my 2500K. were you using the nvidia driver that was released for the beta? i was on an older release.
I was on the newest driver.

He's claiming WAY better performance than me, and I'm running a 6700k at 4.8ghz, 2 x 980ti Classified, and the newest driver released for the game.

So there's definitely something going on if he's seeing that performance with older hardware. I couldn't even run it on "High" settings and get a respectable framerate.
I'm sure that's sli not scaling correctly. I'm not running an x34 though, I'm running the pg279q, so there's a bit of a resolution difference.

Game didn't play well on my rig either, and it's pretty high end. I hope they do a lot of optimizing.

It ran pretty smooth for me at 3440x1440/g-sync set to maximum details using a 980ti, 16gb ram and i7 [email protected]. Might be one of these games which inexplicably runs horribly for some but not for others regardless of how powerful the rig is.

Are you guys on Windows 10? I guess I should have mentioned that, too.

Windows 7 here. I'm hoping for some optimization or an improvement via a driver, but the game is so fun I'll play it regardless.

beta ran fine for me as well with everything maxed out at 1920 x 1200 with a single GTX 970...wasn't a constant 60fps but I don't need 60 as long as the game feels fine and it's not under 35

Definitely had difficulty getting 60FPS at 2560×1440 on a GTX970 on the beta. Can't remember what the presets were, but I want to say that I either dropped down one preset level from max or I dropped many settings from max down a notch and it still wasn't running as smooth as I'd like. Honestly, I didn't get past the initial hub world because I had other distractions and, since I'm not particularly interested in MMOs, I didn't play past the shop areas.

I don't like to read up much on games because I want to form my own opinions (don't want to spoil too much) and I can usually tell what genre a game falls into by just a small amount of exposure, but it wasn't until the time near the beta that it started to sound like an MMO, especially with people mentioning needing to team up with other people to make it through the dark zone. No thanks, no dungeon crawling for me. I don't know how I missed it, I guess I need to pay more attention.

it is NOT a MMO. I ran solo for 80% of my play time, and when IRL friends came on (i bought them all beta keys) we ran in a group. Group activity was more fun obviously due to the socialism but i had enough solo fun to make this a 95% day 1 purchase (not preorder). The open beta will seal the deal if they took care of some of the glitching/hacking taking place on PC. If i had a console It would be a preorder after the closed beta session.

edit: Something to keep in mind is that this game is first a RPG. People complain about "bullet sponge" way too much. Im pretty sure a boss in any RPG takes 10,000 sword slings and 500 lightning spells to kill. Same concept. In the beta I felt that everything was killed in a reasonable manner. (headshots + crit points are a huge factor)

It's not a MMO. Its an RPG looter-shooter with some optional PVP. You need to get your genre meter checked.

optional?...the game is mainly for pvp Dark Zone with a single player story thrown in

Not even close. You can't even level up your PVE level experience in DZ.
Which by the way -
You can't be max rank in DZ xp(Level 30) without getting to max rank on your PVE xp(level 30). There is a cap in the DZ before you hit max PVE level. Hense gear level requirements.

They both work in tandem with each other.(At least till level 30.)
End game focused on DZ? I'll agree there and it's probably true. But then again, the devs did say there is plenty of PVE end game stuff to do.

Why would they focus on just one demographic(PVPers) when you could have both demographics(PVErs included)?....in which case they are.

Example-

If you're level 20(PVE XP), you'll probably be able to go to DZ Rank 25 at most. You'll have to level up your PVe level before advancing any further in the DZ. It would make no sense to have low levels with High DZ rank.

So regardless if anyone wants to JUST PVP, they will have to PVE if they want to progress all the way to the top.

It was extremely smooth for me. After a little play, I started to increase anything that was not ultra-like or highest setting possible to such and still was very smooth. A nothing special non-overclocked 3770 (@3.9GHz during gameplay), 16GB 10-10-10 1T, 980, 361.75 drivers and Windows 10. Also to note, that the graphics options in the control panel are set for Negative LOD bias: Clamp, Texture Filtering: High Quality, and Vertical Sync: On. So I should have noticed something if was not "optimal" for it.

The textures stream, and honestly this is the first game that I am not disabling that or doing some configuration change to prevent stutters; such as for Killing Floor 2, Rage, etc. It was very transparent between and with loads, play, etc.

not even close. you can't even level up your main level experience in DZ.

You can't be Max Rank in DZ without getting to max rank for your PVE xp bar.

the DZ level is a separate thing but I thought all you needed was a minimum pve level to gain access to and level up in the DZ

Yeah to gain access to it. Yes. Doesn't mean you can be level 5 PVE and have rank 30 for DZ though. That would be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. That would mean you could buy weapons like X times as strong as your average PVE level weapons and at level 5 you could essentially out dps higher level players too. That would be seriously unbalanced and there would be no point to any PVE at all.

Imagine low levels with insane damage in the rank 30 DZ zone. I'll cancel my preorder immediately if that were the case.

Okay Update:

I've asked on the official forums and I'm getting all different answers. lol

Some say you could be PVE 1 and DZ rank 30.... some say you can do that but can't use the weapons/gear due to level requirement.

Others like how I mentioned say you are capped until you progress more with your regular level xp.

Which if it is what I thought, even better imo.

I don't mind grinding a few levels in PVE then grinding DZ and back and forth and back and forth. It's the same concept of doing lower level dungeons imo. Sure you can steer clear of the higher difficulty instances until you hit end game, but you could also do higher difficulty instances to score you better loot to hold you over for the next few levels of PVE.
Buy a low budget PC that lasts a year or two? or buy a high end PC that'll last 5 +.
Same concept....well kind of. :p

I'm not sure about DZ being capped, but the gear level requirements would definitely become an issue sooner rather than later. The beta definitely gave the impression that both should be done in tandem for best results.

They should delay this game a month, coming out a week after BDO sucks lol

I feel like The Division is just one of those games you can always pick up and start from where you left off and not fall far behind, like Destiny.

If you prefer to run solo, then sure. Otherwise you could definitely fall far behind depending on how active the other players you plan on playing with are, both in PvE and PvP since the DZ matchmaking is level-bracket based.

However, from the looks of it.... there really isn't any real benefit to having multiple characters..... other than to play with lower level friends or something.
From how diverse you can make your character, I can't think of any kind of reason to have more than one toon.
You can DPS you can be a heal and support, all on the fly

Played the closed beta on the PS4. Playing the open beta on the PC. Looking forward to the comparison!

With the announcement that it's going to be included with bundled NVIDIA cards starting on the 17th, I cancelled my pre-order and I'll be on the hunt for cheap codes.

so Nvidia made it official?...great news...I was pretty sure they were going to bundle it because of their relationship with Ubisioft...I'll be on the hunt for cheap codes here on [H] :D

with amazon prime you can get the game for 48 bucks

It's stupid that they only do this for physical copies of the game. Why don't they apply that 20% discount to digital downloads??

it could be possible their system is different for digital copies than physical, like with a physical copy they have to buy them ahead of time at a certain price point, so they can offer discounts physical goods, while digital might actually link directly into Ubi's store front in that it buys a key directly from ubi with each sale.

i know most places buy a batch of keys for digital games but Amazon could be different.

There was something fishy going on with the digital gold version i pre ordered at amazon, in that it charged me sales tax as if i was buying it from uplay, when pretty much nothing else physical at amazon charges me sales tax. I could also not cancel the digital gold version the normal way even tho it was a pre order, i had to put in a ticket to get it canceled which wasnt a problem.

later bought a normal version from GMG for $42

Ugh...why does Black Desert Online Beta have to be same weekend? LoL - At least I'll get one day - guess that XBox 1 day head start is good for something ; )

And damn you 3440x1440 players...I am now Kraving(!) a new widescreen monitor....LoL.

the beta disappeared from my Uplay client...what happened??...I played the closed beta and afterwards had hidden it under my Games tab but when I looked today the game is no longer there...is this normal?...will it come back again before the open beta or do I need to re-download?

the beta re-appeared in my Uplay client last night...also downloaded a small update so I'm assuming it was the new files needed for the open beta...looking forward to playing again this weekend...

same here! beta is pre-loaded and ready to go.

same, installed it last night, Before it was on my 7200rpm drive... I made sure to clear space on my SSD for this game this time... That DZ transition fucked me a few times lol

No joke. Was playing at a buddies house and he had his loaded to a spare 7200rpm drive as well and I was on SSD and those load times screwed him.

Just preloaded this last night. Installed it on solid state. I still do have my steam library on a western digital black though.

If anyone wants to add me for group play (which I totally avoided 1st beta) - I'm Xerack07 on Uplay...or just msg me here..and I'll add you...etc. It would be nice to have a group ready to rock for Launch. Oh on Mountain time here.
