FPV Drone Racing In A Warehouse

Might be the first time these have piqued my interest a little. :D Nice!

Derp. They did this in the movie DR1 that came out recently.

Alright, that is pretty awesome. I do wonder how many times they had to do that course before they started filming though. ;)

that was actually very cool...I too always thought they were just toys for voyuer purposes :D

yep....i had just wanted something simple like a Parrot AR, but now, hell no to that. Sorry wife, no vacation this year. I need a new toy.

Very awesome, neat conclusion. However watching that reminds me of every "racing" minigame I've played in GTA, where the first lap you can have a hard time knowing where you're supposed to go, and not until you actually memorize the course can you really get a good speed.

Out of curiosity, do you need to manually tell it tilt at such an angle in order to go forward? Or does it automatically balance it so you have just enough lift to not crash but the rest can be used for forward momentum?

Manual. It's like the little bird in Battlefield, only faster.

That was BAD ASS wow ... I can't wait for this on TV in 4k. This is the next big thing

Basically, You have one stick on the controller that controls pitch. So you can pitch forward/back/left/right. As you pitch, it will move the way you pitch but also lose altitude since you're pitching. The other stick moves forward/back to control thrust. So basically, as you pitch you also increase thrust to keep the same altitude. The second stick also goes left/right which makes the copter spin on its axis left or right. After flying for a few minutes, it becomes quite intuitive.

I'm relatively new to FPV racing, and when the vid creator posted the vid originally on r/multirotor I was blow away by it. Then some others riped on him for shooting "blurry" 4k 24fps video. So it lacks visual fidelity, who cares, flying is amazing. Lots of FPV racing videos on YouTube. Also a newly created drone racing league for thos interested.

The track needs moving obstacles and maybe multiple routes you can take, like a shortcut that's difficult to maneuver.

First time I've wanted to buy a drone...

It reminds me of this

That was pretty cool and looked like a lot of fun, I just wonder how many drones died in the making of this.

I like to use mine for precision flying through the woods, great for scouting out hiking and hunting areas. I do aerial video/photography also. So I fly slow

Drone lives matter

Can't watch now but subbing for later. Just bought a cheap syma drone last week. Its harder than it looks lol

That's some impressive flying. They even managed to stick the landing at the end, without full power.

That looks like alot of fun personally and I if I had the Money laying around I would probably looks to outfit a warehouse for this. I be it would garner alot of interest... at least initially.

Driving an R/C car around a track at speeds is hard enough, and that's 2D. This looks like it takes considerable skills.

I wouldn't say that. You just need to pile on the flight hours.

Someone mentioned the DRL Drone Racing League so here is a link http://thedroneracingleague.com/ pretty cool stuff. I think the biggest thing you need to get good at this sport is cash because you are going to crash a lot. These guys have entire drone technician teams, sounds like a fun job.

DRL just released their first qualifying races today in the Dolphins stadium. Looks like fun! Flying FPV takes a ton of skill. Your reactions and stick movements have to be very precise, especially when flying through tight spaces.

They do, check out Liftoff on steam or FPV Freerider or HotProps!
been messing around with FPV Freerider (HotProps is installing). This is great! With my xbox 360 controller it has a very similar feel to my remote. Between this and actual practice, I think I will get the hang of it! I'm discovering I much prefer my pitch and yaw on the right stick, and throttle and roll on the left.

Yeah, that is mode 2 which is the standard in quadcopters. I use my Taranis in Freerider and Liftoff and it works great.
