Before you make fun of Apple for being late again, this is a rendition of wireless charging that will work at greater distances than what is currently available.

Apple is exploring cutting-edge technologies that would allow iPhones and iPads to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones, the people said, asking not to be identified as the details are private. The iPhone maker is looking to overcome technical barriers including loss of power over distance with a decision on implementing the technology still being assessed, they said.
 
Plot twist: Phone makers are always working on future tech, even if that tech may never see the light of day.
 
Bigger batteries... I guess that is too much to ask!. Looks like we are getting smaller screens with less memory instead how exciting!!!

If I recall, Edison was behind that. The man made it his mission to f-over Tesla at every turn. When Tesla teamed with Westinghouse, Edison forced his way in there.

If there was ever a man who needs a well done biopic it's Tesla.
