Today my gpu was reading 595mhz and memory usage around 40gigs (not mb) but everything runs smoothly as before.

gputweak2 reports 595 and so does afterburner. gpuz shows the proper mhz and memory used. I have tried resetting the computer, re-installed nvidia drivers.

What games? What is the rest of your PC configuration? What is using 40GB of RAM? The GPU isn't always going to run at 100% maximum clock speed if it doesn't have too.

Also if you have GPU Tweak and Afterburner both installed, remove one of them and see if it still happens... Running multiple tweak apps can screw things up.

I will uninstall gputweak.

Like i said it just started yesturday. I changed nothing.

Due some some odd twist of fate, I am running into this same exact issue with a GTX 970. Games run like crap two out of the last three days. Ran 3D Mark tonight to verify performance and I got a Firestrike score of only 5100  Clearly something was amiss...

When I check the Firestrike details...

Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Vendor Asustek Computer, Inc.
# of cards 1
SLI / CrossFire Off
Memory 4,096 MB
Core clock 595 MHz
Memory bus clock 1,753 MHz
Driver name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Driver version 10.18.13.6175

I don't have GPU Tweak or Afterburner installed at all. I formatted my PC three days ago and can count on one hand the number of apps I have installed. Power supply has plenty of power, not overclocking anything, and the issue seems likely to happen when I stop playing Shadow of Mordor.

Just installed GPU Tweak and tried again, look at this crap, just maxed out at 595 MHz...

Also note the GPU was running so slow the fans didn't even bother to spin until near the end of the test.

I hit the OC Mode button in GPU Tweak and tried again... GPU went right up to 1336 MHz without an issue. Ran another test with Silent Mode and it goes to 1228 MHz. Seems really peculiar that two people with different Asus Strix cards are both running into an issue with the cards getting stuck at 595. Hrmm...

It is a problem with new drivers. A clean install and reboot fixed it for me. Make sure no monitoring programs are running during install. Also take off save clocks in your AB/Precision prior to install of drivers.

I didn't have any monitoring apps installed :( 3D Mark was the first thing that pointed me to the 595 issue (aside from a game running like crap), then I remembered posting in this thread when I saw 3D Mark had my GPU maxed at 595, installed GPU Tweak to confirm...

I just went from a 970 to a R9 390 and then back to a 970. This is most disappointing, ha!

I'll format again this weekend and if this happens again I will return the card. Never encountered this with the EVGA card I had before this Asus card.

Use DDU to clean install the drivers and try with the latest hotfix. Might help.

In going to format tonight and reinstall with the hot fix driver.

Most likely a problem with the card itself. I had this problem last month and I swapped it with another new 980 ti and the problem went away. I then swapped the original 980 ti back to verify if it was the card and it did the same thing, 595mhz. So then I swapped back to the new 980 ti and the problem again went away.

To test even further, I put the card in another machine. Same 595mhz issue.

My card is on its way back to Newegg, I'm rocking Intel HD 530 right now :( :D Sucks to have a stupid issue like this on a clean Windows install with no overclocking or tweaking utilities installed.

DDU and reinstall of drivers and reinstall afterburner (profiles and everything) fixed it for me.

Got the replacement card in yesterday. Been running for 24+ hours straight now between Valley (DX9, DX11, OpenGL), Furmark, and 3D Mark (all tests) without the 595MHz issue returning.

Fresh Windows 10 install, 361.75 drivers, no tweaks installed (using Firestrike to verify the clock speed is correct)
