Hey guys, I've had this router for about four months now and about two weeks ago it started acting ridiculous. It began by just being ridiculously slow over the 5ghz network and then on the 2.4ghz network. Now it is dropping connection on the wired as well. My suspicion is that the router is getting way too hot. Unfortunately I bought it refurbished and I'm out of the return and RMA window, does anyone have any suggestions for trying to fix this? When the router worked I really loved it, it offered amazing speed over wifi and even had better wired speed than my rtn-12. Unfortunately because of these issues I've had to switch back to my old slow rtn-12.

Well for starters make sure the problem isn't with your ISP's modem or your internet connection.

Well there was no issue Before the router change, and now that I'm back on my old router, I'm not having the problem

Are there any firmware updates? I guess you know why the router was refurbished. Or not.

Set it on a laptop usb cooler plugged into the router itself. The temp shouldn't cause issues though unless you have it in a really enclosed place. Try reinstalling the firmware first.

I'll try reinstalling the firmware. Should I try ddwrt or tomato?

Personal preference. Tomato generally runs better on that line of router according to Smallnetbuiilder. I always stuck with Asus FW because I actually like it.
