I'm on quite a budget as my vehicle is deteriorating, but my mouse and keyboard are as well (both are generic, about 6 years old, low dpi non gaming mouse.)
I'm looking to upgrade this next check, and have been all over newegg and the for sale threads here, but I'm not very knowledgeable on the lines anymore (last time I bought a gaming mouse was 2004 for CS.)
I'm willing to buy secondhand, preferred even, considering how low my budget is. What would you guys suggest I look into? I'm mostly concerned for my CS performance, which is where this mouse's tracking fails me. Other games I play are typical fps and moba games.

What do you have now for a k/b? I might recommend spending $80 on a mouse and mouse pad. Upgrade your k/b when you have more money. Most gaming k/b are $80+.

The CM Storm Devastator Combo, alot of people say its a pretty nice combo for around $30.

Getting closer to budget, the Logitech MK710 does not seem like a bad setup either. Reviews are pretty good.

Go with a used cherry mx red mechanical keyboard

For a mouse, grab a Logitech G100S, it's an excellent budget mouse because it has a great sensor, but you might miss the extra mouse buttons on the sides of most mice.

i currently just have a generic microsoft no frills keyboard. mechanical is not necessary, especially considering their price point. i may just get the mouse and wait on the board. the thumb buttons on the mouse are necessary though as they're my vent/in game communications. i don't think i could get used to not using them for ptt because i've used them that way for about ten years now. i've found there's not much of a rush to get it because the new cs go update has put a bit of block on my eagerness to play. went from an mge to a nova 2 in a matter of a week or so. completely ridiculous whatever they've done to the rank systems, as i've won 75% of my games and still downranked considerably, being second or top frag in all but one game.
i'm looking at the cm storm quickfire, however it'll be awhile before i can afford anything so it's bound to change because i can't stay off newegg and the like (good news is my vehicle is working now.)
has anyone heard of/used the floureon brand? i'm not particularly interested but i was completely unaware of them existing at all. the specs look nice and the price is great on them, however when something tech related seems too good to be true i've almost always found it is.

As odd as it sounds i'd recommend Caps Lock as the push to talk key for communication. It will mess up your caps lock state for sure, but this way there will be no interference with your mouse grip or hand position in case you end up talking and shooting.

For CS:GO, the rank distribution simply wasn't being fully used, there were barely any silvers, it wasn't looking like the bell curve they intended.

For a mouse just make sure it has a good sensor , or better yet a "Flawless sensor" (One without hardware acceleration, angle snapping, prediction, etc) . You can search the model of the mouse on google and then see if it has a good or flawless sensor. In general, for mice, you can't go wrong with any of the following: the Razer Deathadder, Logitech G402(and predecessors), Zowie EC or FK, or Steelseries Rival. Also consider the FinalMouse 2016.

Hey thanks for the info on the sensors, I'd known some were better but the list was really convenient. I'm pretty picky on how my mouses feel in my hand, I like them a bit smaller, which as really narrowed down a lot of options (seen as many are >120mm length, which I'm not fond of at all.)

If you are a claw or fingertip gripper, then check out the CM Zornet II mouse. It's a small, lightweight mouse with a great sensor. It runs only $30-$35, so that would leave $50 for a good keyboard.

from what i've read the xornet 2 uses a 3320 sensor, which as acceleration (previously it'd used the 3310, no acceleration.) i've chosen the Corsair M45 for a mouse, and I'll have a bit to think on the keyboard yet. I really appreciate all the input! (and the chance for that pun)
