Ditto. I preorderd MWO hoping if it was successful the business case for a standalone single player MW game would be made.

Unfortunately I think the whole free to play paradigm has killed any chance of that while they're making bank from microtransactions.

i play it daily...

user name Bigbacon

Ifully enjoy it for what it is and still spend money on it. I just won't touch CW.

I haven't enjoyed a MP game like this since BF2142

Well, don't get your hopes up: it runs about as well as DX9 and looks no different. Though TXAA does become available with DX11.

Also enables Adaptive vsync on nvidia cards.
But yea, there's no real difference to be seen.

i can see a difference between the two. in dx9 for me, everything looks muddy and not as clear. with DX11 I can see clearer and make out things in the distance better.

I guess sharper is the word to use.

You're probably picking up on the better dynamic range capabilities of DX11 which increases the range and accuracy of colors and tones used. Some people can notice it, some can't (me).
I do like Adaptive V-sync, however, and having access to MFAA on newer Nvidia cards is kind of nice.

I get crashes in MWO (64bit client / DX11) but am not sure if it's the game or my driver/card (oc'd). Otherwise fairly very happy with the game itself. Huge grindfest for cbills.

Currently running MFAA and sometimes DSR @ 2.25x. That really jacks the memory usage. Adaptive v-sync has been hit or miss and I currently run with it off, monitor set to 100hz. I generally hold between 45-90fps. Might be better to just lock it at 60hz.

I enjoy the game for what it was. I was thinking "oh, ill support them and buy a madcat" ITS FUCKING 30 DOLLARS FOR ONE!!!!! on that note... I think its fun. My dad and I play every once and awhile for shits and giggles (we loved MW2 and 3)

edit: But wait, theres more!!! If you go to the homepage and click on the big "gift shop now open" I can buy a madcat for 18 bucks.... So confused. Id rather spend 18 than 20.

Depends on the mech. They added "quirks" to various models that increase/decrease certain performance measures like rotation speed, torso speed, angles etc.

So sad that MMLL died. MWO could never replace it.
Really? I used to play MW:LL for hours every day but I got burned out after a while. After MWO launched I installed Living Legends again to see how it had progressed while I was away and it was just plain bad in comparison. It wasn't the developers fault. I think the older version of CryEngine they were using was hit and miss for a proper adaptation of the universe. Neither of them are perfect to how I imagine it in my head (more so from the novels than the tabletop).

It's the game. It's a crash (crap?) fest every second patch or so. Not that it ever totally goes away.

This X1000. We haven't got a proper MechWarrior game since 4:Mercs. How long has that been, 13 years?!

Even $18 is utterly insane for ONE MECH. No thanks. Fuck this P2W/F2P bullshit. Same reason why I stopped playing Hearthstone. They stack the deck against you so bad basically forcing you to spend $$$ just to start winning matches.

I never considered it to be a problem until they introduced Clan 'Mechs. C-Bill 'Mechs and MC 'Mechs — doesn't really matter. Now it's gotten a little silly.

I finally uninstalled after a bit over 2 years. Frustrations peaked when I had a Catapult K2 dead to rights after taking off his left leg. His right leg was stripped of armor and I moved around to where it was completely exposed, dumping my 35pt alpha into the leg. I did no damage to the leg or any other part of him.

Almost every fucking match has something like this going on. Throw in the maps with all the invisible ledges and I'm amazed I stuck it out this long. Mechs, though...damn.

That was the original intent though. When they purchased the rights to the game the early teaser and all that was that it would be a single-player game. It wasn't until a year later or whatever when the information started trickling in that they could only get the cash backing they needed to develop it if they made it into a MMO. Nothing would have happened at all if they had held out hoping to make Mechwarrior 5.

damn me........i watched a youtube video and i got sucked into installing the game again.

I stopped playing a few months ago...I need to get back into it but I'm afraid because of the massive changes the made lately.

That and it is still just laser vomit...Everything else is not needed, just pack on the lasers. They really need to make a real heat scale or figure out how to get the other weapons to be viable to use.

it is? in over ayear they haven't done anything with clan warfare. They dumped it out last december to appease players, players found out it was stupid and boring and stopped playing it.

They have special weekends where everyone plays it to get free stuff and then stop. that was a few months ago. It was a ghost town like 2 months after it was released.

Welcome to Battletech in the 3050 era with double heatsinks. The same problem exists in the tabletop. I wish they hadn't chosen this time line for MWO :(

but it isn't table top...they could stray away from it to make the game better. Continuing to translate a table top game into a 3d shooter doesn't work.

the vomit is really because the heat scale just doesn't work. There is no consequence for building up heat and WAY to easy to large alpha without shutting down. 40+ damage alphas shouldn't happen and definitely shouldn't happen in quick succession.

The challenge is that in real time, Battletech-style combat would be SUPER slow. Plus, because this is a FPS, weapons hit far more often than envisioned in the TT game.

But the problems you are describing have been inherent to every MW game to date.

This game had a bunch of problems.

1. No missions like in the original Mech Warrior games. Only death match and capture the flag.

2. Heat max was too high allowing you to alpha multiple times before shutting down.

3 .No penalty for heat till you shut down. Table top had penalties to movement and shooting if you ran to hot. MWO should be a red line before shut down where you mech moves slower and turns slower the deeper you are into the redline so its harder to aim for follow up shots if you are too hot.

4. Wonder ECM. It was super annoying made missiles useless and furthered laser vomit.

5. Ghost Heat. Makes no sense and does not solve the big alpha problem

Did they fix any of these issues?

Haven't played much MWO in about 2 months due to Fallout 4/Shadows of Mordor, but am looking to play in 4K (or 1080p/1440p since MWO isn't so nice w/Crossfire despite trying out a ton of workarounds).
