Just got a message today about there being a minimum 15 posts to send PMs. This wasn't the case yesterday or 2 days befor that when I was sending PMs about a Fury X in the For Sale section. As I never received any sort of response from the user about their Fury X, I'm wondering if the limits were put in-place before a warning message about the new minimum was put in-place. If that is the case, I lost out on that sale due to this.

Anyone got some insight as to when the new limit was put into action?

You are a rare instance. Someone that has been here three years but has such a low post count. I see how that would be irritating.

But when I get PM's from spammers and scammers with a low post count it is annoying. I actually would invite these changes if that is what they recently implemented.

I got no problem with the change but when I'm trying to buy a new GPU or a Macbook Air and these changes get implemented, I would hope I get an alert or something about the change so I don't try sending messages but not get alerted they didn't send.

I tend to be much more active on Overclock.net but I find more people posting better stuff for sale here so I usually buy my parts on here.

There is no such limit on PM's, you tried to reply to a users post in the f/s forum & the 15 number you seen on the 2nd line was your total posts at that time & the top line that stated - there is a minimum of 100 posts required to respond - was ignored.

Anthony isn't there a limit if you're in awaiting email confirmation mode?

I know there is a minimum post count for replying to a f/s thread and I was trying to send a PM to the seller when I got the message that I needed a minimum of 15 posts. At the time I had 8 posts so I'm not sure where you are getting the 15 at the time of my PM attempt.

@Oldie, I'm pretty sure my email has been confirmed for quite a while since I've been here for almost 3 years but if there is some setting that I didn't fix for 3 years that is now popping up, I'd be interested as to where it is.

I am also in the same boat except that I was able to complete my transaction before this change was put in place. I've been here since 2004, just haven't posted much at all. I haven't even been using the forums until I found an item I wanted to by in the For Sale forum.

I found out about this new limit while trying to respond to the seller's PM that I had given him heat feedback and it would not send because of the 15 post limit.

I can see the reason for it and I agree that we are probably minority cases but a warning would have been nice. Something like the password reset post.

In the meantime, I will keep trying to find meaningful things to say in response to up my post count so that I can send PMs again.

Such is life when combating spammers.

It appeared to be a hickup with an addon, even though it wasnt set to be enabled, it was anyways, had to remove & reinstall the addon to fix the issue.

Sorry, forgot to respond back the other night.

Yeah, I'm currently doing a transaction with someone, and I can't send them PM's or post in their thread. So I guess I'm going to have to try and get to 15 ASAP. Hope no one minds.

Daang. 7 posts in 10 years...

Going for a record for longest lurker?

FYI, forums are only a useful resource due to contributions of knowledge from people. You must post in order to contribute. Otherwise, you might as well not even be here.

Fair enough. I'll try to find some way to contribute, though I can't say that I'm not an idiot.

So how exactly does the minimum work? I've used this forum to lookup information for a long time about building computers but never had anything to contribute myself really.
