840 evo and 850 evo, the 850 is considerably slower.

im kinda stumped on this one. i just benched my new 850 evo and my 840 evo, both 250gb. the 2 year old 840 destroys the 850s performance. what gives?
the only difference is the 840 is the OS drive, and has the OS optimizations for max performance.

Sounds a lot like what happens when you plug an SSD into a non-Intel SATA controller. Pretty sure the bottom 2 SATA ports on that motherboard are connected to the ASMedia controller, so make sure you're not using either of those.

Yes. Either you have it connected to the ASMedia ports, or you have it connected to SATA ports that are not SATA3.

im on the asmedia ports. i think ill probably stay there for a while too. i dont feel like pulling my video card to get to the other ones.
