Well I guess doing the math, since the separate hinge is $35 extra, and going up from a 24 to 48 port patch panel is only $25, I guess it makes more sense to just go up to a 48 port patch panel then, considering my switch is only 24 port...I guess it doesn't hurt anything, future proofing eh :)

You could stick with the 24 port, and leave the extra u empty for future also, and use the extra $25 for beer.

Pretty much every 19" wallmount bracket (that I've seen) has a hinge. So I'm not quite sure what your problem is. If you're not certain that particular bracket has a hinge, just get one that does.

One thing I'd recommend is getting a larger bracket, like one that is 2U or 3U tall, and giving yourself room for a cable-management panel. This will allow you to neatly route the patch cords that plug into the patch panel.

I had a 4u hinged bracket in my basement for a long time. The swing out isn't so stable when you need to work on them and you fight the cable bundle each time so if I ever did it again I'd come up with something else. That said, search monoprice.com for part 108623. $6.30
Back in stock 1/5.

Same piece is being sold at an Amazon seller for $13.39

It's much easier to just flip the patch panel over and do your terminations. The swing outs never work that well unless you can swing it out in to a piece of plywood or brick or something similar.

That is exactly when I do when terminating - flip the panel over and screw it to the bracket.
