Apple Agrees To Pay Italy $347 Million In Back Taxes

The Italians are quite inventive when it comes to tax collection and investigations. A few years back they wanted to check out people for tax evasion but who do you pick?

They checked the vehicle licensing lists and picked anyone with a car over a certain value or make. Worked like a charm apparently.

"So Mr Moretti...you state you only earned €50000 last year but you drive a 2014 Ferrari! Care to explain?

That would not fly in the US.

FairTax solves this problem. You can't tax what you can't prove is owed with our broken income tax system.

Yes, thank you. The lack of understanding of tax brackets in this country is appalling. Our economic and political education here in the US is utter shit.
Our current tax system is shit. Designed to obfuscate how much the government is raping from you.

He might be in the 35% bracket, but he only pays that on a percentage of his income.

However, that's just his federal income tax. Once you take out money for social security, medicare, dividends, capital gains and state income tax (10% if you are stupid enough to live in Commifornia like me), his total taxes are probably more than 35%.

Oh ya, don't forget the payroll, unemployment and, of course, corporate tax that your company pays that are taken out of your salary. Then the 50% estate tax when we die.

We all pay way more than we realize.

(Sorry for the post spam.)

Correct. It's a total of 35%, not just FICA.

Yet another Anti-Apple, click-bait, inaccurate headline from our resident "journalist"

THE place to come for in-depth, unbiased tech reporting

I know its upsetting. You should totally show your anger by being upset with other people who get unreasonably emotional about meaningless computer junk over here:

It's cool because computers have a lot of empathy for how you feel and they know you're here to defend them so I'm sure Apple devices everywhere are bursting with pride over your post.

Thank you! and I applaud you for being able to so accurately read my mind.

Please be assured that I have notified the Nobel commission of your breakthrough, that you are compelled to share with the rest of humanity.

Pulitzer would be more accurate

But why do they need to explain? Its fed task to prove guilt or tax evasion. A person may have life time family savings, not only yearly income.
