Rise of the Tomb Raider

Wow this looks like its going to be even better than the last one. Hopefully us PC users wont have to wait too long for it to come to PC.
 
They need to bring back Croft Manor and let you run Lara around the pool area in a bikini again.

The tombs look fun, but I was more interested in the story last time. The side history of the crazy cult was very interesting but the tombs did not really add a whole lot too those points.

As there is combat between portions of the tomb hopefully they will be more tied into the plot.
 
Well I haven't even finished it in the box yet and it will be on PC. Not a bad thing but will at least try to finish it before PC release.
 
Are Steam dates usually accurate or are they placeholders?

I'm skeptical because Amazon France had it listed for Jan 29th but later updated to March 31st.

Really hope it is January though.
 
They really duped me on this one. I read that it will release in Q 2 of 2016 and wasn't willing to wait that long. I paid full price on XBone for this but will not repurchase on PC unless it is 5 bucks. Crystal should be taught a lesson for the crap they pulled.

I am now 48% done and will try to finish it in 1-2 days. I think I have about 3-4 areas left to complete this game.
 
The framerate is actually solid on XBONE, unlike the Definitive Edition of the first game. But it is definitely going to be glorious playing this game at 2560x1440 and 60+ FPS.
 
I came close to buying the Xbox One version. Very glad I didn't. I'm all over this as the last game was a total blast.

I got the definitive edition for free with Gold. I thought it ran okay, I played through it then immediately played through it again on PC. There were area's where the xbox one version was actually superior to the vanilla PC experience and other places where the PC shit all over it. Overall though I thought the framerate was fine and I'm pretty sensitive to it. I bought a PS3 just for the Last of Us and I couldn't even finish it cause it ran like shit and responded poorly to input due to frame rate and slight HDTV lag.

Usually the HDTV is fine for me, even in Halo but that coupled with what felt-like sub20 FPS made TLoU experience awful. Looking forward to picking up a PS4/TLoU remastered at some point.

I personally can't wait for Rise of the Tomb Raider's PC release, it was a mistake to throw their eggs in the XB1 basket, imo though I'm sure the influx of cash from MS helped them put out the game that they wanted to and not just whatever they could get out by Square's required ship date.
 
I think I am nearing the end of the story. Game has been fantastic so far. I get some minor hitches on the box during cutscenes but otherwise frames are solid. I have tried to search most areas for collectibles but still there seems to be some left since I am only 58% done now. Tomorrow I will finish the storyline and then try to get the other stuff. Highly recommend the game when it comes on PC!
 
This game just doesn't let up lol. Reached a part with over 10 baddies and my bitch underwater trying to own their sorry asses. Was intense. Loved it.

I'd be more angry at Microsoft. Anyways, it always pointed to Q1 for PC and Q4 for PS4 so its nothing we didn't already know.
 
How much better are the graphics then the last game? Graphics from the last one kind of suck now. Trailers make this new one look a lot nicer.

You mean the Tomb Raider reboot game? It looks fine for me with a GTX 980 Ti with everything on Ultra/enabled (including TressFX) @1440p...

The new game looks about the same graphics-wise, though with less interesting environments compared to the previous one, but it may appeal to some...
 
Huh? It's a much better looking game than the first one. The characters, especially during cutscenes, are pretty mindblowing. Lara looks basically like CGI in a Pixar film or something, it's crazy. (obviously not like a cartoon, I'm talking about depth of facial expression and such)

I went by the screenshots and trailers I have seen so far. Obviously video compression and such may have made it look worse than it would look like while playing the game. I won't be buying this title, though. The story is so bland and uninteresting that I'll gladly skip it and just play the previous game again.
 
I think the tomb raider stories are interesting enough. Better then the bland shooter game stories for the most part. Probably helps if you're into the whole bad ass explorer/ancient secrets and crap scene though
 
Looks like a launch day release for me, I was happy with the previous Tomb Raider and I'm sure this one will meet my expectations.
 
Rise of Tomb Raider has a better storyline than most games. It is not the best thing in the world but if you take the time to read the 20 billion story drops in form of tapes, documents etc. then you realize that the whole thing is actually well thought out.

The only thing is that I saw the twist coming 2 miles away and already knew what up about 40% into the game. Rest was just seeing it through as to how it unfolds. I still have the last area to clear but I am side tracked doing a tomb for now lol. 70% done.
 
i'm not preordering any game, part of my new year resolution. Got kicked in the balls too many times last year. Even with the amazing job they did with previous tomb raider, you just never know.
 
Will not buy it on PC until it is 5 bucks. Had my fill on the box. Already bought Tomb Raider on PS4 and never replayed the 2013 version.
Also in this one Lara's tits are smaller so no incentive to play.
 
The pants stretch pretty good in this game I asked about Laura Croft of the steam forums and people were just saying it's Lara not Laura.
 
Out of curiosity - how guaranteed are those grey market keys for a game like this? I ask, because Steam doesn't even have it on sale yet. Dark Souls 3 is up there for 1/2 price, too.
Are those legit?

Ordered many games from cdkeys. Never had one problem, all activated on steam without a hitch.
 
Finished the game. Was great until the end where it went complete Rambo Mass Murdering Lara Croft. Ending was predictable but decent. I give it a 9/10 since I really enjoyed it. May even go back to finish up remains since am at 78%.

Highly recommend it for gamers who didn't play it on the box. Game took me about 15+ hours and some change. Totally worth the time.

I played it on XBONE and I have to admit that the story in this one is pretty bleh. Story in the reboot was much better, but I think the gameplay more than makes up for it in Rise. I was pretty interested in the story in Rise until I felt it jumped the shark about halfway through...
 
I enjoyed the last Tomb Raider game (the first one I've played since the original PSX demo disc) enough that I think I'll probably enjoy this. I doubt I'll pay $60 since I have a hefty backlog, but I'm definitely looking forward to playing it on PC.
 
This game will be part of the NVidia bundle. Anyone paying 60 for it will be a complete moron. lol.
