DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Hey, even if they do not work out, they will be available to you for a future WC build!

But I hope they DO work out, as the look is pretty nice. So clean!

would any of Corsair's closed water cooling setups fit in this case?

If you can run it out the back like this, quite a few should fit. :)

Otherwise, no. There's nowhere to put a radiator unless you don't mind modding things, voiding warranties, and short GPU's.

By the way, and this is duh, but Pascal GPUs are expected to be short, not much longer than 7-8 inches, similar to the R9 Fury X -- we may be looking at the end of the huge GPUs era, which makes it that much more imperative that a bracket is released for the case to utilize that space, for a vertical 3.5" drive, a 120mm radiator, or additional SSDs. Just a thought, but I know Dan has mentioned he would probably do that already.

I think they will be shorter than average historically, but remember the r9 390 is 12" long and it's got the fancy RAM that lets them make it short if they really want to. as dan says, the power hardware and cooling hardware drive the size up when you're talking about a 250W chip. but I wouldn't be surprised if the mid-range lower-power cards are a lot shorter than the 9.5" 960

edit: sorry I spaced out there and forgot they changed their model numbers to words. I meant r9 fury, and it is 11.8" long

I can't find anything saying the 390 or 390X use HBM, where did you hear that?

I think what we will see is a combination of more small options like the R9 Nano at the high end in addition to larger ones with current style heatsinks, where as before smaller options were more significantly underpowered compared to their larger siblings. Thus, I think that a bracket for an extra SSD/HDD or 120mm rad will be well appreciated by those that don't need the extreme performance of a 250-300W GPU, but are okay with a smaller 175W GPU design and want more storage or liquid cooling.

Absolutely, if they added this in or even offered it as an accessory I'd be sold on this case over the M1 or Osmi

Got one of my EK heatsinks on

No heat issues so far, Looks good, will definitely fit in the A4, in case anyone was interested in them. :)

Unless you have FBDIMMS or are performing an absurd RAM overclock, RAM heatsinks are purely cosmetic.

Here is a next small preview picture of the user manual drawing quality:

I agree.

Which is why I got these for cosmetics. :)

I mentioned temperatures because a page or two back someone was thinking the featureless-ness of these new ones would potentially cause issues compared to the old ones that had more dissipation area.

I love it, Dan. I want to print it and put it on my wall as a poster hahah ;) Really cool style. I actually just realized that the motherboard was inverted haha. I had a dream last night about building my new badass system in this case. I am going to go all out and spend $2500 or so. I'll wait for the Pascal GPUs to come out though.I can't wait ;) Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next review.

Absolutely stunning, this is the sort of thing case manufacturers should strive for.

One question, though: It looks like the PSU mounting bracket only has four mounting holes instead of three or six, is that correct?

It has six ;)

I think the #3 should be on empty space, not the SSD or other component, because I thought it was saying to move the SSD or something 0_o

Hi guys I have been following this case for awhile and I might be asking a silly question that's been asked 10000x before. on Dans website it says case is expected to go on sale end of 2015... well we now coming up to xmas and wondering if there is a release date or you can purchase it already ?

It seems like Dan's plans for a crowd funding campaign have changed–– the new plan is he will sell through a reseller in February/March of 2016 with immediate shipping. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I would love to buy this case I am happy to wait feb/march.

thank you for the response

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but why is the case named A4-SFX? SFX stands for small form factor clearly, but what's the A4? Is it because it's about the same size as an A4 sheet of paper?

yes…

I was under the impression it's SFX not for small form factor (SFF) but because Dondan used a HDPLEX PSU in his original A4, and this version supports an SFX PSU.

Hello everyone and merry Christmas. This is my first post here. I am designing another compact HTPC/gaming rig. I have built one in the past and I usually build my own cases as there arent any on the market that are as compact as I would like. I have all the parts already which are based around the z170 chipset. The design I had in mind for the custom case was very close to the a4-sfx, I have since decided rather then recreate what has been made, this time I would just save the time and efforts and just buy one of these. The only problem I have is the wait time to get one. Is there anyway at all I could buy even a prototype now or soon and post pictures of my build to advocate the a4-sfx?

Currently I don't sell my three prototypes/final release samples, because they are for reviews, testing and marketing stuff.

So I am sorry but you have to wait or build it by your own.

dan-cases.com FAQ still says: "End 2015 on Indiegogo or Kickstarter. For Europe I plan to sell the case through a distributor." As we have two days left of 2015 it seems that is not correct.

Dondan, if your plans have changed, can you update your site? I would like to know what the schedule is for releasing this case.

Hi guys, here is a small update on the status of the A4-SFX.

Today I got bad news from the reseller that they couldn't make the case buyable over they shop. The reason for their decision is, that they had to preypayment the cases, so the financial risk is too high for them, because they have to handle the MOQ of 300 units alone.

But they will help me by the shipment of the case. So I will go back to the original plan to make the case buyable over crowdfunding and maybe if the campaign is successful, they will take some cases for their shop, because then they aren’t limited to the MOQ. I will use the January to found dan-cases and make the crowdfunding campaign ready in February. I choose startnext.com as crowdfounding platform, because they have very small fees to give you the best price that is possible.
The user manual is done to 99% so I will publish it this or next week.

@lemonated: I will update my side tomorrow ;)

Thanks for the update. Rest assured, you already have the most important thing down: eager customers! My credit card is waiting...:)

Aww, that's a bummer, but it was to be expected somehow. At least you're in talks with them now, so it should be easier to convince them what an amazing case the A4-SFX is by making that crowdfunding campaign happen.
