Big Progress in FAH Daily Production

Damn you, can't you just let me enjoy my toy for a few days!!!!

I still have 1.7 months to get more hardware.

Need to find 1 million ppd between now and then :)

I'll get more hardware if needed. Just ask Vanilla_heat what happens when you brag about a new piece of hardware prior to getting mowed. :D

Was going to use my Christmas bonus from work for more hardware but looks like I am going to have to pull down my rack and move them back home so my points may suffer...

That doesn't sound well. Hope nothing serious happened.

I've been folding@home off and on since early summer. I've just been folding for a couple of days on a new Gigabyte 4GB GTX 960, just to do a burn in test on it.

The 960 seems to be a really nice folder. High PPD, low power draw, and stays nice and cool. Maybe I should throw another one in there :)

I've started to notice these errors on my boxen.

17:52:38:WU02:FS01:0x21:Completed 650000 out of 5000000 steps (13%)
17:57:05:WU02:FS01:0x21:Completed 700000 out of 5000000 steps (14%)

What are they?

Running Windows 7.
P2 Memory is underclocked by like 400Mhz
Core clock is OC'd by ~100Mhz (running 1500Mhz core)
Temps operate between 45C to 65C depending on the time of day and outside temperature. Currently sitting at 48C and 57C.

I've seen the error on all the boxen except the 980. Not every day either.

edit
I wonder if it has to do with running the NaCl browser client on these boxen as the time those errors started appearing is around the same time I opened them up in my browser.

Its possible that NaCl client is interfering but I've not seen any reports anywhere - one thing you might want to do is upgrade core 21 to the latest version, v16 I think.

I am guessing since core 21 v16. v16 is not as OC tolerant as v14 was but even with the reduced OC tolerance it is faster which = more PPD. You may need to back the OC off a little 10 to 20MHz should do it.

Seems to have went away. Haven't had any errors in a while now. Strange.

On another note. Did jfb9301 add some more boxen I'm not aware of??

Nope. just the three in my sig. So that would be 2x 980ti, 970, 2x960. One of the 980tis is a part time folder in my son's computer. Once the heat wave back here breaks, it will run more regularly.

Pennsylvania, I just moved last spring.....it's been in the 60s. We are having September weather this December.

Have you done anything different with your configuration then? Different drivers? Overclocked? Your PPD seems to be going up substantially the past few days.

I need to replace all my 970s with 980 Ti's. Those things are just monsters.

I do not understand why my PPW is slowly going down. Absoutely nothing has changed. Same hardware. Same settings.

Did you received a new version of Core21 ? V0.0.17 ? You can see in the log. That one again reduce by 8.5% the performance for better stability.

I'll have to look when I get home later this week. Thats probably what it is. Though I'm down 1M PPW more this week than the previous week. It's been dropping every single week. Over two million point less since the highest week when I got the last GPU I have.

just got fired back up again, hope to knock out a few mil more before the new year

Progress : you bet people! 500K won't even get you in the top ten PPD on the team now. Hopefully we can ramp it up some more going into the new year. I need moar D

December was the first time we surpassed 900 million points for a month since January 2015. wow

And we are now bouncing between #6 and #7 in daily production which not that long ago we were #16 iirc so we are making some pretty good gains. I was lucky and Santa brought me another 980 Ti Classified for Christmas so hopefully that will help get us firmly into the #6 daily production spot.

One of my D was borked. The GPU clock was stuck at P1 state and only producing like 10k PPD.

Moar D incoming, my 960 is a little underpowered - so I just pulled the trigger on a 980ti. Oh and the 2nd bigadv rig is back online as well:D

Glad you found the issue.

Does this require a RMA, or is it just a software problem?

I'm not sure now. I restarted the PC and now the core clock is back up to 1500Mhz (it was like 405Mhz or something in the P1 state) but now that it's at 1500Mhz I am only getting 25k PPD on a Core18 WU. Restarted the client and, while it took a while it is now reading ~325K PPD.

It's the top GPU in the the rig, so I'm wondering it maybe it overheated? Earlier I noticed the temp was up in the mid to uppers 70s and the fan was set to auto. I had previously set both fans to 100% 24/7 and somehow it changed just that one GPU to auto while the other GPU (the lower one) was running 100% fan speed and around 47C.

Strange.

Here goes my sunny place in front of you on the daily producer list ... I had my run ...
