Turok Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2 coming to PC again

Yeah, I won't hesitate to buy Turok 2 as long as it has remastered/new textures, new poly models, and the fog is pushed wayyy back.

And proper kb/mouse support ofc.

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!??

I'd say a good compromise would be to allow mod support so that the community could add said features if they aren't in the port studio's plan.

Subbed, this is awesome news!

I remember needing the N64 4MB Expansion Pak to enable the high resolution mode. God it looked great, but it seems like the trade-off was that the game played noticeably slower/laggier. That's how I remember it, anyway.

Never played the PC ports.

Turok was the game that destroyed console FPS gaming for me. It was actually my own fault but I digress. Like any savvy, young N64 gamer I played it with my trusty Gameshark, slapping in codes right and left while going down my "list". Well, instead of god mode, I turned on Spirit Mode without realizing it. I dare you, any of you, to play more than 15mins straight with Spirit mode on. I played it for HOURS that way. So many flashing colors, so little frame rate... my head hurts just thinking about it. Now I get motion sickness after a short time playing FPSs on consoles.

I played the PC ports and it was awful, could never make the controls work very well, which is what I find with most N64 ports. That odd 64 controller just doesn't mash up with an xbox controller.

I think Turok was the first FPS I played where, at least by default, you can strafe!

It did run like ass with extra input lag, although there were few games that ran in such high resolution, if any, and it did look pretty great. I bought an expansion pack specifically for this game. Came in handy for Perfect Dark, Episode I Racer, and Conker's Bad Fur Day as well.

EDIT: The first one was was pretty good on PC provided you had a 3dfx Voodoo Graphics or Rush card. The second one wasn't very good though, but with a Voodoo2 or Voodoo3 you at least got to run it in resolutions above 640x480. And the porting team made the HUD XBOX HUEG and look awful

Those were the days. The original memory was 4MB and the expansion was a whopping 8. Seems puny but then the largest games for it were only 64MB so it could actually cache quite a high percentage. Also the ROM based cartridges had low access latency so swapping wasn't too painful

Just grabbed this off of steam. Runs pretty well and I am definitely enjoying it.

I grabbed it as soon as I saw it when I opened up Steam last night. Ended up playing it for 3 hours straight. It's $19.99 regular price, $15.99 with 20% off through Christmas Eve. Only negative so far is the game engine is locked to 62 FPS.

Holy shit this is awesome. I remember getting a free copy of Turok in the box of my Intergraph Intense 3D Voodoo Rush.

Unfortunately, this hardly looks remastered, looks like it was properly ported, which is great, but the N64 version worked amazing in an emulator. Turok 2, on the other hand, didn't play well in the emulator at all. So im looking forward to simply being able to play that properly.

This is great!

Remember playing this with friends on the N64 in the before times. Time to fire up the old nostalgia machine and kill some dino's :D

I actually never beat either game on the 64 as a kid so this will be a first. Can't wait for 2 to drop!

Hardcore is brutal. I don't think I ever played through the original on N64 on anything else but Normal difficulty. I keep running out of ammo near the end of stage 2 "The Jungle."

Game is worth every penny. Runs great, still looks like turok. I like the way that they handled this remaster. Very fun game.

Actually the expansion was an additional 4MB of 500MHz RDRAM, bringing the total to 8MB, yes. 64MB is miniscule compared to 650MB of a CD, sure, but I am pretty sure really hardcore compression was used with lots of hand tuning done in some of the more extreme examples, like Resident Evil 2 (only one of a handful of games that used the 64MB cartridge).

Most common cartridges were only 12MB or 16MB (Turok used a 12MB/96Mbit cart). The largest common capacity was 32MB, which Turok 2 and TLoZ: Ocarina of Time used.

Interesting, maybe I'll give 2 another run, I got super frustrated on Hive of the Mantids and quit last time lol.

If you thought that part sucked, you should try making it to the Big Bad's lightship(? It has been almost 20 years since I played that game through... Beautiful game, but oh the framerate...) - I had to walk away a couple of times before being able to finish that Mongolian clusterfuck... lol
