Intel Retail Edge Holiday Deal 2015

its a NAS/server :D I said fuck it and went all out.

Yeah, that is where I was confused. I almost started to look for a NAS with that chip to see how much a beast like that would cost. But you built it as a NAS so now I understand and your comment makes so much more sense.

yea sorry. I originally was just building a NAS (a good one) but the project had a little bit of good ole project creep :D I just refer to it as a NAS but I really should just say home server

I got this email today:

"During a routine audit of our Holiday Deal orders, it came to our attention that your order violated one or more of the Terms and Conditions of the Program. Due to the nature of the violation, your order has been canceled, and your account has been deactivated.

Regards,
The Intel® Retail Edge Program team"

Pretty bummed I'm not able to take part any more. I never tried to exploit the program or anything. I did sell a couple processors. Only reason I can think is that I'm not exactly retail. I'm customer service.

Pretty obvious that you did exploit the program. It's against the ToS to sell the items purchased through the program. Also you need to work in retail to take advantage of it, so while your company may be eligible you technically are not and thus violating ToS.

When I said exploit, I meant try to get multiple processors and stuff like that. I used the processors and sold them or ordered them for others at near cost. I wasn't complaining. Just bummed out. I'm tech support. I technically sell some products with Intel processors but not my primary roll.

I don't get how they could have tracked any of that, though. I don't really know if they meant the job description no longer applies?

That's a huge no-no. A former coworker I had got himself a shiny lifetime ban trying to do what you did. He went around the store asking asking other employees to verify accounts for him using their paystubs, they complied, no harm no foul. He did mention that he did use the same password for all accounts. So, that's probably how you got caught.

Same worker found out a way to verify accounts via company email and was still eventually caught. So he made new accounts using different aliases and used the company email to click the verification link. His accounts still got closed. They banned his name, his home address and all that and made it more difficult for honest employees to verify in the process. Meaning, when an employee verified their account, Intel would actually call in to make sure that person worked there.

Simply put, don't try to game the system you will get caught.

I didn't do that. That's what I was saying. They must have tracked my job description or something. Unless they somehow found out I sold two processors over the last two years. I didn't get banned, so I imaging its job related.

Ve vill ask ze questions from now on!

Just went on to order mine - ALL the CPU's show sold out... Seriously before the holiday ???

Hell they probably had a 1,000 processors good enough for me
Backup plan if any game out there puts my 4 core 8 thread 4970k to it's knees.

Any chance they release more?

Nope. You snoze you lose.

I bet they started the winter deal with significantly less stock thus why we saw it sold out this soon.

NG check eBay.

Big Aug, call them. This "and your account has been deactivated." would imply you were banned. The most likely culprit is one of the people you sold a processor / system board to, made a warranty call. When I tried to order one of the last 960s they did this to my account so I called them. It was the older 840 I gave my aunt; she had called for support on the system board who’s SN was linked to my account. But giving the old hardware to a family member is not against the TOS.

Also if the TOS is the same as the summer deal (my company is no longer a member so I could not see this one) customer facing service support was covered as we can help a customer make big decisions.

I really highly doubt that people's account getting deactivated is due to someone else doing a warranty claim with the processor that was sold to you. I really doubt intel is cracking down that hard, I have sold a few processor here is I didn't go through with the build and I didn't make much on em. I doubt intel would ban your account without notifying you if that was indeed the case. It might be related to verification or someone creating multiple accounts.

I ordered the same day and so far I have no shipping notification.

i myself, am surprised on how fast it sold on this time. im holding out for maybe the summer deal and make get skylake.

I am really thinking that is a good bet for a 6700k. And if I was going to estimate Skylake-E it would be summer 2017 or winter deal 2016 MAYBE.

you mean BW-E...SKL-E has a 2017 release at best

I hope you understand why I forgot about Broadwell :D Haswell-E is going to be a big deal now that I am reading and remembering what is to be expected. I guess I start saving now.

thanks for reading my mind =)

yes, if i alluded to their HEDT SKU, i was thinking BW-E. i usually guesstimate that after a release of said processors, intel usually waits until they build enough stock to sell them at such a discounted price which is usually about 6-12mos. i didn't think skylake was going to make it for this holiday deal mainly because NA has been having a hard time keeping them in stock. i mean why sale them at ~$100 USD when they can't even keep them in stock at ~$350.

back to HEDT, i might even wait a while past Skylake-E because with the recent flood of E2670 for X79, i really have no reason to go pass my X79. i mean sure, thunderbolt, ddr4 and usb-c is cool, but i can get add in cards for those and DDR4 doesn't mean much to me because really don't overlock and will benefit little from the saved watts as i don't have my machine on more than 2-3hrs per day.

This program has been a blessing for me seriously love it going to stick to my Retail job.
Honestly don't know anyone who would hire a bald guy in their 40s even if I had some kinda degree.
Just picked up a Ninja juicing IQ blender after saving points for about 5 months it's coming in the mail today.

also picked up
Battlefield Hardline in the store
a Steelseries MLG mouse
Soda Stream Machine which is only good for carbonated water to drink the Soda will make you FAT really fast....so
a couple of Intel processors

I used to be able to participate in the program as a merchandise manager for Costco before moving out of a retail location and into the depot system. I miss the semi annual cpu deal and random (and often very cool) store items but kind of hated keeping up with the quizzes.
