Thanks for the reply...I'm only 15 hours in and at level 10 but this is my first Fallout game. I played all the elder scrolls though and joining guilds was a huge part of the gameplay/storyline, so that is why I say that if you lose the option to join and play out there quests it seems like a waste...Albeit I understand and it does make more sense that if you join one side/group, then how could you join another and also side with them without creating inner turmoil....

Having to pick a side at some point is pretty much a Fallout staple, going all the way back to FO2 if memory serves. Though I think in FO4 you can do basically all the meaningful quests for each side, up until you pick the side and lock out the others (the quest doing so being very obviously doing so). And there are ways to avoid locking out one faction as much as you might, if you're willing to google and game the system a bit maybe. But I don't know that much about it because I haven't gotten to that point and haven't been actively seeking spoilers.

I haven't ever been able to get the Tier 4 vendors to go to my settlements...I've met a few of them but never got the option. I have full Cap Collector perk and whatnot.

I've gotten the Vault Tec rep, but that's it (and I'm disappointed that as the general "Trader" (i.e. junk) salesman, he doesn't have any "shipments" for sale. He does have a shitload of junk though, definitely better than the regular T3 shop.

Tried to get one or two of the people from Vault 81 but can't figure out how to do so. I pass a speech check with one of them, but still doesn't result in any dialogue that would allow me to recruit them.

And still stuck with Smiling Larry (who I want the most, since he might be the only Tier 4 weapons vendor?). I'm going to try the console codes but at a different settlement, and see if that makes a difference. If not I think I'm just screwed unless/until they fix it via a patch.

I also like Piper because she's the only one that doesn't give me an endless ration of shit for picking up dirty ashtrays and coffee cups all throughout the Commonwealth.

lol yes she does that, she says "this belongs to the trash, yes?" :p

looking at some of the screenshots posted in this thread, the game looks awful from a graphics standpoint...looks like a game from 5+ years ago

Thing is most of us would rather play the game at native resolution on out 2560x1600 and 4K panels than max out settings. I'm not spending $600-1K for a new GPU just to max out FO4...because it can look quite good.

 you must be new to PC games. Perhaps you should introduce yourself first.

it is good, good enough to enjoy it, i dont think i complained once in this thread about the graphics :p

Yes, Curie does, but not Piper. Piper says shit like "You'll probably get better use out of anyone else." and similar stuff.

I love it when you're looting a corpse and Curie says "Yes and now we put everything into little baggies and call the police, non?" She's a great NPC.

lol yes, and when she says we should call a coroner and file a police report, i just think to myself duh no curie we dont do that :p

It sounds like a lot of the special vendor stuff is bugged. No one seems to be able to get Holt from Vault 81 even though I think you're supposed to be able to.

I have the Vault-Tec guy in Sanctuary, but when I offer him a job it wants me to "send" him someplace. I can't send him back to Sanctuary because it's full, but I also have no option to assign him to the store from the Workbench. I have a full set of Emporiums in Sanctuary so that shouldn't be an issue.

A lot of the screen shots in this thread doesn't properly reflect the actual graphic detail you see in the game. For example, some of the images seem to have the game run at 1080p and on low detail, as evidenced by the huge amount of jagged edges and low quality texture.

At 4k, even low details can look pretty good. In fact unless I look really closely, some of the stuff doesn't even seem to have reduced much.

My only gripe with this game is that TAA and FXAA makes everything a little blurred so I will have to learn to use re-shade to improve upon it.

In short, the screenshots does not do the game justice, not by a long shot. It doesn't look that impressive if you compared it to say Witcher 3 or perhaps even MGSV, but it does not look that bad. The facial expressions and movements are some of the better parts about the game.

But, if you are absolutely and totally about graphics, I don't think Bethesda games in general, Elder Scrolls or Fallouts, can satisfy your appetite. At least not without mods.

Although,

This may sound really embarassing, but how does one combat motion sickness from FPS's? I seem to be unable to play FO4 for over an hour each session before I become really nauseated. I had plans to tone down Grim Dawn and more on FO4 but the motion sickness is really annoying me.

So I finally built a few magazine racks and the bobble head shelf to display my mags/bobble heads. One of my magazine racks and the bobble head display have vanished - but I can see the items floating like they are still on the rack/shelf. I can remove them all if I want - but I was hoping there was a way to fix this. I can't select the rack or shelf to move it or add new items to them.

Has anyone else ran across this yet?

aw man, shit just got fucking ridiculous, so curie right? well hmmm.. what gun to equip on her since now i have the option.. oh i know! a fully upgraded suppressed gauss rifle righ? plus 500 rounds of ammo, what a great idea! so i go do this mission in a nest of gunners to test drive her, i see a gunner, i usually go for the headshot with my deliverer in vats but that gunner had his leg standing out, so i aim all my rounds on his leg, because one finds amusement in the simpler things in life, the first round got to his leg and *plabt*, curie explodes his brain with a shot to his head, i thought "but but.. aw man!", so second gunner comes in the prowl, and its a legendary one, i aim to its head, first round connects, second round connects, *pblabt*, curie explodes his fucking brains out. so then i realize it is game over, as it is this is no fun, its too damn easy, and im playing on survivor since the start. oh man! so well, i guess i'll test drive her now with a suppressed combat shotgun on full auto, the short range of it might stop her from ruining all my fun :p

heres what im talking about:

well, dicks. I didn't realize that the settler number cap was 10+CHA. I was going around to the settlements I have now and building shittons of beds, planting loads of mutfruit and tons of water purifiers and pumps. Oh well, just put all the extras in the workshop and will use them in the other settlements :)

There's a mod called "Arbitration" that substantially alters the game AI to make it much more challenging. Especially with regard to sneaking

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/m...4/ajax/moddescription/?id=2037&preview=&pUp=1

It makes your Ninja perk actually matter. It means that when you snipe, the baddies actually go looking for 5+ minutes instead of seeing someone have their head explode and then shrug it off after 5 seconds.

hmm, but it changes too many things, so far im mostly using just texture mods, i dont even have a mod manager installed. but yes, both i and curie have all our gear pointed towards stealth, everything light, shadowed, and whatever options the game and workbenches provides for this, thanks for the tip though.

Dumb question: How can you tell what kind of weapons certain companions prefer to use?

With Macready he said something in a dialog about how he used a sniper rifle and so that's what I set him up with he's pretty damned good with it.

Does it matter?

I don't know about giving them weapons but when you're in combat they will pull out a weapon that they have inherently on them with unlimited ammo (for Piper it's a 10mm, for Cait it's a double-barrel shotgun, etc.) so I figure that's probably their "preferred" weapon? However I have no idea if they are proficient with certain weapon types more than others or anything like that.

I'm more interesting in what armor mod you are using for yourself and Curie.

bos officer uniform, its a unique item, you get in a brotherhood quest, a second one (or more) has to be through the console as the game only gives you one (at least as i know). player.additem 000134294 1
things im using in arms and legs are combat armor stuff, modified to shadowed and ultra-light in the games armor workbenches.
curie is using all synth stuff with this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5278/?

They whip their own weapons out and have infinite ammo for their weapon. They are programed to pick up weapons too. Curie is bugged where she tends to not use her weapon unless you give her ammo and a weapon. All of them will use what you give them provided they have ammo none of them will use their ammo if you give them a superior version of the weapon they come with.

Curie is a laser rifle
Nick valentine is a pipe revolver
Maccreedy is the bolt action hunting rifle with full stock .308 receiver and a scope
Preston laser musket

Thanks.

Right now for armor I have an armored up to the max Courser uniform and I've been pretty happy with it.

Not strictly true...I gave Piper an upgraded 10mm and she wouldn't use it without ammo.

Not sure if there is anything you guys collect specifically, but here are my main collections - pool balls and lunchboxes:

ALL THE BALLS

Notice the odd distribution...there are significantly more Two, Eight and Cue balls than anything else. Others are exceedingly rare.

Another angle of BALLS

Another angle, plus in the upper left you can see my small but proud Pepper Mill / Salt Shaker collection. Again, a seemingly rare Junk item that I decided to collect.

SO LUNCHBOX, MUCH WOW

The one off to the left is special - It's called "Lunchbox" rather than "Vault-Tec Lunchbox" in-game...no idea why.

You can also see the Bobbleheads and the Gilded Grasshopper there.

I too am collecting lunch boxes, and billiard balls, but also teddy bears and those stupid ass space chimps that won't sit upright, FUCK YOU SPACE CHIMPS!

haha i am collecting those too, all of them, if i see a teddy bear: mine! then curie looks at me and say "this belongs to the garbage can, yes?" and i think to myself: fuck off, mine! :D

I am forever alone so don't have to worry about some chump making comments about my huge ass collection of stuffed toys.

Nice...yeah teddy bears are semi-common so I didn't bother, though it'd be fun to have a bathtub full of them. :p

Jangles the Moon Monkey! I may still have some in the Workbench but they may have been used for parts already. They do seem pretty annoying to sit upright, and they won't fit on a shelf so...yeah, I didn't bother.

Regarding the billiard balls, I think the reason why the Cue Ball, Eight Ball and Two Ball are so common is because they are the only ones that seem to spawn on enemies (mostly Feral Ghouls)...no idea why that is. The only full set I've seen is in the Cabot House, and the Atom Cats have one through eight.

Thanks. I haven't progressed that far into the BoS quest line; may do some more of those tonight.

Oh what about the head piece?

Oh what about the head piece?

its in one of the first of those quests, one of those given by Paladin Danse, its not a quest reward, you might, or not, find it :p

head piece is the default gray knit cap (luck +1) turned into black with this http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4799/? and the glasses are the default black rim glasses (charisma +1) ;)
