New Samsung 4k for everyone.

HDMI cable could be an issue, but the "discoloration" is probably the Output Dynamic Range being "Limited". Mine seems to switch back to "Limited" when I update drivers and has similar color issues.

It's not the Dynamic Range causing the strange coloration. My GTX670 is on "Limited" and looks perfect at 4k60hz on my Sony x810. I'd go with it being the cable.

Is it because I'm currently running it at 24/30hz? Don't have video card with HDMI 2.0 yet. Or is it because it's 4K now, I had 3x 1080p before I upgraded and the input wasnt that bad. Or is the input delay increased due to using wireless keyboard/mouse? I use Microsoft Sculpt keyboard and Logitech G602 mouse.

Help me out here?
If there no fix for this issue, I will be returning it.

Why are you running at 24/30hz? I don't know about the 7970 but the pre-HDMI 2.0 GeForce (at least since the GTX600 series) cards will output 4k60hz with 4:2:2 chroma (or is it 4:4:2?).

Wow, guess I never truly experienced 30hz before until now. Defiantly gotta upgrade the GPU stat! Thanks Nenu and imyourzero.

yeah - when I tried with a couple older HDMI cables all I could get was 30hz and it was terrible.. I was like WTF have I done? then I found a cable that worked better and the 60hz option was available. After changing to that things felt back to normal. People are saying all HDMI cables are the same etc etc but I think not so much with pushing HDMI 2.0 from a PC at 4k 4:4:4 60hz. My current 15' cable that "works" is giving me some random blackouts and I am still waiting for my 6' high speed cable to come in..

edit: the cable I ordered is Fusion4K High Speed 4K HDMI 2.0 6' but the first one seems to have gotten lost in shipping so I ordered another with 'same day' delivery today but so far it has not shipped... sigh

i am using 0.99$ chinese no brand hdmi cable for 4k@60hz.
all my cables work actually with ju6500.. on the other hand most of my cables didn't work with my old hu6900. So it is also about the TV not only cards or cable.

Good point. All the parts in the connection chain need to be right for the HDMI handshake to happen at the desired speed/rate. My cable shipped finally.

From what I understand is that 4:4:4 requires more bandwidth and have wider color gamut than 4:2:2.

What I do not understand is how do I change it? VIA Radon settings or on my TV? I've gone through every settings on the TV without any luck at figuring it out.

This teaches me to keep up with current technology... Been slacking off lately.

Unless I am missing something, only the GTX 900 series can do 4:4:4 @ 60Hz.

im looking at a 4k at the moment, but im not liking the sounds of having to switch between game/pc mode all the time.

anyone have any idea if the 2016 models will be doing 4:4:4@60 with low input lag? or is this just a bandwidth limitation that womt go away until theres an updated hdmi spec?

Not everyone feels the need to switch between game and PC mode.

As for the 2016 models - one can only hope they will be better, but remember that we are not the target audience for these 4k TVs.

morning all. Concerning Vesa mounts....I did a search through the thread and saw conflicting information regarding egotron. I plan on purchasing the 7500 and want to wall mount it. I see it's 200/200. What should I be looking at? Hmm...can't really see that anyone got this working.
Thanks.

Edit. I see wallmountworld has arms that fit...in the 150 and above price range...

I used to, but then after a couple of weeks decided there's no point.
If you want low input lag then don't look for TVs to game on.
For me, picture quality is everything. Also, I did not notice any lag difference between 20ms, 40ms and 100ms :/
But I guess it's more of a blessing than a curse ;)

For something like Star Wars the Old Republic I don't feel the need to switch to game mode. For FPS games like Battlefront I definitely feel the difference.

150? LOL

Just get one of those, only cost $25 and it's mounting size is pretty much universal.

if fickering doesn't bother you, enabling led clear motion (backlight strbbing) makes motion extremely solid with 60hz ju6xxx tv's. it is almost plasma level clarity in some games . I ve played gta 5 and the camera pans are %100 blur free.
I ve also checked it with my 120hz h6400 and it is exactly same as ju6500. They both have same motion resolution when lcm enabled. But i would still prefer blur reduction for its non ficker and brightness.

I just recently got a Samsung 40" JU7500. I have RGB 8bit enabled in Nvidia and I am using the picture guide in the Samsung 4K tv as a monitor thread. Games look gorgeous but text at the desktop has this blurry chromatic aberration look to it. Like there is this rainbow hue around each letter. It is really hard on the eyes. Do I have something set wrong here? My wife has a 32" Vizio 1080p tv as a monitor and text is far sharper on it without any of this weird chromatic artifacts.

Are you using the "Game" input type with Game mode "on"? If so, check your Sharpness, it should be reduced to 0.

You're not running 4:4:4 UHD color. What kind of vid card?

Titan X SLI

I have game mode off. Only PC mode with UHD color enabled. I have RGB selected in Nvidia, I have tried 4:4:4 and 4:4:2 but the RGB setting seems to look the best but still letters look funky.

I thought game mode disables 4:4:4 or RGB so I have kept that mode off.Is it possible that even though Nvidia says I am in RGB that it is incorrect?

So I tried enabling game mode, text became a little bit clearer. What I don't understand is UHD color still says its enabled in the tv's properties and Nvidia drivers still says RGB is enabled. I thought game mode prevented all those from working and would default it to 4:2:0

I'm still getting random blank screens right after windows load about 1/3 of the time I start my PC. It happens about 5 seconds after the desktop loads - never during gaming or anything. One reseat of the HDMI cable and I am good though.. but it's not my favorite thing right now. I might try a driver clean and re-install.
edit: I have tried different drivers, disabling the Nvidia HD audio, not installing the 3d vision driver, running at 59hz, different HDMI cables.... about a 3rd of the times I start windows after about 3 seconds I get a screen blankout, sometimes the whole screen turns green first, then I have to reseat the HDMI cable to recover it.. after that I am fine. This doesn't sit well with me though. I guess I can return the TV if I want.. I should probably swap my video cards around and see if GPU2's HDMI port works better...

edit2: I think my TV's HDMI1 port is flaky.. or something. Using a DVI to HDMI cable I am seeing the same stuff. Gah! Time for a return.

upscaling is pretty good

I purchased the 40JU6400 to use as a monitor but it looks terrible. Image looks washed out compared to my old Dell U2311H and the BenQ BL3200PT I got the Samsung to replace.

Am I doing something wrong? I set it up following this guide: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1869675

I have it hooked up via a AMD R9 290X and a HDMI cable. I only get 30Hz @ 4K with 4:4:4 chroma but plan to purchase the Club3D DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Active UHD Adapter that has just been released for 4K 60Hz 4:4:4.

PC mode is enabled and I have set pixel format to Full RGB. Colours are set to dynamic range (0-255) and UHD colour is on.

Only when I set the HDMI Black Level to LOW does it look similar to my other 2 monitors but then I am crushing black levels.

Is this just how the monitor is? Surely the picture quality can't be this bad? It looks like there is a thin layer of grey mist covering everything.

Also checked what panel is in the TV and it's a Samsung. Model no. in service menu is 40A6AU0VJ.

There is something wrong on your side not TV imo,
install display driver again, set ypbcr 4 4 4 in catalsyst center not rgb. black level should be set to normal. your tv is samsung VA panel.

Check the colors and contrast on support-use mode-store there are nice 4k videos there to check your tv's color. Looks like it is running on Limited rgb.

I've already tried a full re-install of the display driver after uninstalling from Control Panel and then using DDU in safe mode. I'm on Windows 10 x64.

I only get the option for Limited RGB and Full RGB in the Catalyst Control Panel.

The store mode demos also look washed out. I'm also seeing a pink/purple hue to the screen when the screen is mostly black, it's kind of like IPS glow. Is this normal?

can you go to tv's own web browser and check
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php
where all the boxes except maybe the first 3 one are visible and blacks look like real black and youtube app to check videos to confirm tthey are washed out there too.
Since there are no rgb settings on tv's own apps best place to test.

I can clearly see squares 2 & 3 and black level does look black in this test.

YouTube videos look the same in the app and on my PC through browser.

are you looking at your tv from a weird angle ? because the viewing angles are terrible on these ju sets even if they have samsung panels , also their contrast levels are inferior to last years sets. check my tv also have the samsung panel. whenever i look from top or side it is washed out.

IDK about anyone else but mine will automatically snap back to PC mode after quitting the game. So yes, you have to initially enable it but thats all.

What's the difference between HDMI1 "PC" vs "PC DVI" settings for the device type?

@revenant

not sure anything except a "name" ....I have tried both and didn't notice anything...I tried a DVI to HDMI cable as well...maybe someone else knows about something technical
