Yep the ssd deal is pretty lame, was cheaper at newegg over black Friday.

X99 is really tempting especially with how cheap ddr4 has gotten lately but I'm leading torwards just getting a 4790k and waiting for summer or next year.

People are saying it was cheaper on New Egg too maybe they will lower the price?

not for quality DDR4.

It was 249.99 over black friday. They wont change it, I feel like they just included it because its been the same deals three times in a row now.

Either way it's still great of Intel to offer these deals!

The last required learnings are up today. I am also surprised the store hasn't been updated at all. That might also be updated on the 10th when they go on sale.

Fucking idiots run the program so its no surprise...

Finally have enough points for Master. I'm looking at getting that i7-5930k as I was thinking of doing i7-6700K build but you cant find it anywhere for the retail price. Only drawback it seems with this build is the motherboard assortment. Also, I already have a motherboard for the 6700K so I might just find someone to trade for 6700K of have them order me one.

Also, do these tend to sell out fast? About what time did they pop-up and how long did they stay in stock?

what motherboard issues?

I really want to get the 5930k but I dont know if I can justify the upgrade cost from my current system for what I use my PC for. Might just get a 4790k and see if it clocks as high as my 4690k.

It starts tomorrow I suppose I have to stay up....

The motherboards for X99 are a joke all of them have problems the ASUS Pro X99 seems to be one of the best based on reviews from Amazon and New Egg.

Every time I see an IREP thread I remind myself how glad I am I no longer qualify for them.

It's Today Baby!!

Not sure what time though thinking it will be 12:00 pacific or something...

No complaints on my x99. It's actually been a lot better than my x79 and one of my z97

Awesome. Just put my order in. Now to ponder if I build around X99 or try and sell this and do a Skylake build. Also, it is refreshing to see a item get a price break like this and the site not get hammered or it being sold out within seconds.

lol at the website thing. Does PCI lanes, >64GB of RAM, or extra cores matter? If so X99 but if 16x lanes, 4 cores, and 64GB of RAM is enough go skylake for better single thread. My desktop is eventually going skylake because that is enough since i got my NAS for more threaded/RAM needs.

I got my order in for the 5930k. I don't really want a desktop right now. Wish there was a deal on a sick laptop or something some time.

Placed my order for a 5930k. Anyone from previous years have a rough idea of when these will ship out? Hopefully it will be the week after Christmas sense I'll be gone that week!

*Will they email a tracking number when it ships?

Last few years have been between 2-4 weeks to ship. Yes you receive tracking info.

I definitely saw the difference between hyperthreaded 4 and 6 cores when encoding the same content. What type of threading/workloads are you talking about with a NAS that would overcome a desktop chip?

my NAS is a 1650 V3 so its a xeon 5930K. I need single thread for old games, 99% of all desktop programs so Photoshop and encoding I will just do on my NAS since ti'll be ECC and have oogles of RAM.

4.8GHz skylake vs a 4.5GHz Haswell will have 12% more single thread overall so its note worthy especially if your single theread limited

That is not a nas, that would be a home server.

I have the required learnings to buy, which would be the best upgrade from my current rig?(in signature)

If you find yourself thread limited you should go with the 5930k. Realistically in cpu performance between the [email protected] and the [email protected] (stock) you should only see a small difference between those two. The things you are gaining are a more robust platform with more 6gbit sata ports and pcie 3.0.

If you have the money for the more expensive platform I would go with the 5930k as it should overclock to about the same 4.5ghz pretty easily, though maybe a bit more difficult than the 2500k you are coming from.

again a 4.5GHz Haswell vs a 4.5Ghz SB will have around 17% better IPC...thats a considerable amount.

He could also buy the 5930k and trade it for a 6700k or sell the 5930k and buy a 6700k.

I was expecting a Skylake chip, was finally going to put my 2700k in hand me down status to my kids.

6700k > 5930k? Really only do web design and some light graphics editing with the occasional video editing job. Trading up to a different platform sounds like a plan :p

If you get a good clocked SL it will be a bit faster in single thread operation and 4 core or less operations.

I personally will dish out for single thread performance so I am getting a binned 6700K at 4.8 GHz
