I also bought MakeMKV and also use Handbreak. Both work great, but for those that don't have either or want to try something different, free is always great to try. If you don't like it, uninstall it and delete it.

I've got old DVDs that I'd consider using this for...thus I'll download it. However, I'm not sure who'd buy a ripper that can't rip Blu Ray.

People that don't buy blurays or have a blueray player :p

about 75% of U.S. households have a Blu Ray player. Not supporting blu ray certainly reduces your potential market. I'd consider something like MakeMKV, but I'd never buy a DVD only product. In 6 months, I'd probably avoid one that didn't support 4k Blu Ray (even though I don't have a 4k TV or Monitor. The present isn't DVD and the future is 4k

Curious where you got that statistic from? I guess I am one of the 25% that don't, then. I did have a PS3 at one point, but it broke down a while back (never used it to play Blu-Ray movies anyway). DVD still fine for me.

But I misstated the number. I rounded up from 72, but it was 72 million (roughly 62%), not 72%
That said, the numbers are a year old, which is why I rounded it up up a few points.

I like the idea of ripping DVD's, I would like to be able to clone from one DVD to another DVD like DVD copy pro does. Is there any freeware that will do both ripping and cloning? And stay current with the blocking software. I have a 512GB hard drive and don't want to have to get an additional hard drive for movie storage.

I got in on this last year. I've actually used it a few times. Similar to MakeMKV but more full featured, like ImgBurn. I like it.

Good stuff. I have used WinX products before and had good luck.

Thanks OP!!

Yeah, that 'tomshardwares' link leaves me feeling a bit nervous :D
