Fallout 4

The mods that I posted.... NMM made that a piece of cake. NMM has come a long ways in terms of updates, features, and streamlining. I downloaded the right files, activated it, put the ESMs in the recommended order and all within a handful of minutes. It couldn't have been easier and more painless. Manual install isn't difficult, either. I just follow the instructions. If the modder recommends sticking to manual then that's what I do.

Unless the modder states to do it manually there is no point in NOT uisng NMM if the game and mods support it. It would be like having a large music collection on your PC and not using a media player to play and access the content.

This is why we get threads that go "installed mod, not working, need help!". Today I learned people like to do things the hard way because....reasons.

except there is a bug with the auto salvage system example say you need cloth you have 3 rolls of duct tape and a rug in your junk box you make your sleeping bag or we and it auto salvages the duct tape but the adhesive is not tallied and partially lost.

I thought someone tested this out, and found out that there's a delay. So, it'd recycle the item, then about 5 min later all the left overs show up.

I don't understand how that analogy works. Because in that case the media player would be the game, that you can use to play the mod/music. The mod manager would be a media library app, that organizes your media.

But even then it's a strech since you don't usually play two tracks at the same time. While you use lots of mods simultaneously, and there can be conflicts.

I've never tested it but it has been reported that nothing is lost. The bug is with displaying the extra materials properly, not losing them. I.e. your three extra adhesives will be in the workshop inventory and available for use, it just won't show that they're in there (unless you put another adhesive into the inventory, then it will correctly display that you have four adhesives).

Best safety tip...run your virus scanner on your NMM directory and the FO4 directory.

Did it. Seems clean. :)

So after the update if I fire up the Fallout4 launcher it wants to uncheck all of my mods ESMs and ESPs no matter what I do so I guess I'll be working around that from here on out.

You need to manually edit the plugins.txt file and set to read-only, kicking it old-school.

I'm not sure why that is only now affecting people after this latest patch, I've had the same issue since I started using NMM before the patch. Annoying but easy to work around.

EDIT: May have been a beta patch issue that is only now being seen by people because of it being marked as "stable"...makes you wonder what the point of a beta patch is if they don't fix issues like that before "stable" release, though?

Just hit: Patch 1.2

looks like they're taking the slow but steady approach to releasing major non-beta patches for the game...maybe by January a really big patch will be released

If I bang Curie, can I later group up with Piper, and then bang Piper, and then group back up with Curie and keep banging Curie? Or will Curie find out about Piper, and then call me a dickface when I try and Lover's Embrace her in my Red Rocket Tower of Romance?

After spending 200 years in a freezer, I'm not sure I want to commit to one wasteland romance at this point.

Random BS:

Got the X-01 armor (or whatever it's called) and bumped it up to max damage resistance. Pretty awesome. Decided I'm spending the rest of the game in power armor. I think I used power armor 3 times between level 2 and 25, but now I'm up to 45+ cores, have a ton of money, and enemies are getting tough (on Very Hard). Bonus is that I can keep all my +CHA gear on under the armor and just hop out whenever I want to trade, no hunting through my inventory to switch back and forth. Plus I look pimp in the clean black suit, black hat, and black glasses.

Just dinged 42 and added the jetpack, haven't even used it yet.

Two at a time albino legendary deathclaws in the glowing sea is a goddamn MFer. Took me 3 or 4 tries to take them down, and then I died 1.5 seconds later due to acid or poison or some shit, so I had to do it over a couple more times, spamming stimpacks during and after the battle.

The glowing sea is awesome.

Burned the two perk points on the CHA cap thing, so I could build the high end shops. Then burned through 17k of my 23k caps building the shops on different settlements. We'll see how it pays off. It doesn't matter a huge amount, just because I always have a large enough pile of mutfruits/purified waters/higher end looted weapons to sell when I want stuff, so I never actually spend caps, just barter, but if this produces a shit ton of caps so that I don't have to loot every damn thing, that'd be okay.

Finally got the Jetpack.
What a huge let down.

It uses both fusion cores AND AP.
Wtf is this, Battlefront?
I can barely jump 50 feet high.

I was thinking I could take a stroll through the common wealth, Rocketeer style. :(

There are several mods for that.

They probably did it the way they did for the sake of balance.

Try tapping the space bar (bursts) instead of continuously pressing it (not the I'm defending their implementation)

If you have the beta patches, do you already have the final version of the 1.2 patch? My game didn't download anything yesterday and I have received 2 beta patches thus far.

The 'stable' patch is the same as the 1.2.37 beta patch, so nothing to download.

Hi,
every time I exit fallout steam hangs on syncronizing the savegame.

I need to force exit. Is this a known problem? How can I solve it?
Thanks.

I would not like to turn it off but if it doesn't works, I don't have many choice.
A question, how many weight my compaign can carry?
Can I give him all I want without worry about weight?
I think they can carry 200 pounds by default, or the base capacity of the PC before adding strength. There are perks available that increase the carry weight capacity of your companions, though.

I might be imagining things...but it seems like Strong can carry more than the other NPC's? It could just be the game tricking me, though.

Console commanding my carryweight up has probably saved me 10 hours of mindlessly humping things back and forth from POIs to the nearest settlement. IMO they should have made junk weightless. Make your carryweight matter for things like weapons and armor.

I probably would have hacked the carryweight anyway, because I'll be damned if I'm going to leave all those leather raider armor pieces lying around when they're worth 9 caps each, but it would have been less likely at least.

Hehe, at least a couple of times (before I max'd out the carry perk) me and my companion humped it all the way back to a vendor carrying over 2000+ pounds of loot. Reminded me of Everquest traveling :p

On a more serious note, the weight restrictions forced me to take a hard look at weight/value ratios. Why carry that leather raider piece weighing 3 pounds for 9 caps when a equivalent weight gun is worth 27 caps? wink wink

Agreed 100%. I find myself overburdened constantly, even with a companion lugging 1/2 my stuff around. It's not like you can realistically carry even a fraction of the crap you find around, so why not make some of it weightless. The ammo is after all.

I'm also very much getting sick of Zimonja being hassled and someone being kidnapped and held in the ammo depot. Last night I got both quests 3 times. The raiders in the ammo depot were still dead for 2 of them. I just ran in and ran out with the hostage. Those radiant quests should be on-demand instead of Preston auto-issuing them.

Small gripes, but it's easy to not realize they're endless and end up at level 30 before you even start the main plot.

What would be nice is if you could send out your "spare" companions to do these quests on your behalf. Those spares would then be TRUE Minutemen helping out the community with their combat skills instead of just being another spare farmer/mechanic. You would just split the cap reward 50/50 (and there should be a Charisma option in dialogue with your spares to increase it, first to 70/30, and then to 80/20). With multiple "spares" doing these quests, the Minutemen faction would grow. This should be tied into more settlers wanting to go to Minutemen settlements. Should be a minimum of 2 Companions, until 1 of your companions hits lvl 30+, then just 1 should be enough. Unless you're "Strong", of course :p

I'm level 70. I feel there is not much left to do. I want to reach level 75 so I can use the Science level 4 perk. Any tips to keep going?

I think there is a mod that shows the caps per pound stat in the UI so you can better determine what to haul at a glance.

Pssst! Agatha's dress +3 charisma I have no idea where I found it. (wonder if it's a negative hit for a guy wearing a dress....hmmmm.)

"Fixed issue with "When Freedom Calls" where the quest would not complete "

HALLELUJA! bout time

I think it was Corvega, when it took me three or four trips to clear it out, and I decided "Welp, that's enough of that" and used the console.

I thought about that, and I also thought about how I was poor and didn't have enough ammo to use my favorite gun, so I NEEDED those goddamn 9 cap pieces of leather garbage. :)

I'll also frequently do 3 or more POIs without bothering to head back to a settlement in between, no way I'd do that with my normal carryweight (especially since most of my points were put into INT and CHA).

Plus I hate micromanaging my inventory all the time. I periodically dump the starred weapons and armor (that I don't want to sell, but don't plan on using anytime soon) into a safe at one of my settlements, but I don't like having to do it after every single POI.

Yeah, being able to carry around 20,000 rounds of ammo isn't really any different than being able to carry 127 alarm clocks and 91 coffee cups.

You can just ignore these with no ill effect, right? I'm still getting a lot of them for locations I haven't been to yet, but pretty soon I'll probably start blowing them off.
