View Of Earth And Moon From Japanese Spacecraft

I wonder if that position shows the distance? Because for a 2D image, the moon could be closer to us and appear closer to the Earth than it really is just because of the perspective. A complete side shot would be cool . Didn't see in the article if it took that into account.

Good point. Looking at the shadows, it looks pretty close to being pretty straight/parallel with the camera. The moon seems to have a little less shadow, but being smaller it's hard to tell exactly. My guess would be that the moon is moving in an orbit that is starting to go behind Earth. No expert here.
 
Steve, I really appreciate the astronomy coverage you add. You seem to know what's cool at the same time filtering the day to day techno babble.:)
