Bill Gates To Commit Billions For Clean Energy

China has ~5 billion people. The majority of which is flat, unskilled labor. And they have money rolling in like they were printing it.

"We're killing people with pollution." Don't care, we can breed more.
"We're polluting the planet." Are we making money? Don't care. We're making money. And most of our crap is blowing out into the sea or over into Japan. Fuck'em!

Are they researching alternate forms of power? Sure! But, in the mean time, there's all that cheap, dirty coal they can burn!

Huh? China's population is under 1.5 billion and it's likely to get smaller before it gets larger. in fact, even with the new 2 kids/family, the population won't grow.

They aren't just researching alternate energy, they are the largest generator of wind and hydro power in the world. But yes, they have tons of dirty coal energy.

I personally think we need a blend of technologies and Nuclear will likely be part of it, but I don't see any desire among the masses for nuclear.

Exactly, it's not like we're going to simply build nuclear and nothing else.

Nuclear as a baseline, then renewables and storage to handle spikes in demand.
That's what makes the most sense.

Any shot it had died with Fukishima and yes that was old tech

No, Chernobyl was old tech.

Fukushima was corner cutting.

Had TEPCO built the sea wall to the recommended height, the server would have continued shutting down gracefully.

With other forms of power, there's places that you can cut corners at times.
With nuclear, you really cannot. Well, you CAN, but you really don't WANT to.

As for "the masses". I've ignored ad populum arguments before, and nothing's changed.

but for the foreseeable future, I don't see that changing. For now, wind, solar and perhaps sea turbines are more acceptable.

Tell that to the people on Martha's Vinyard.

I'm not sure about your proposal for renewables. It works for solar, but as I understand it, most wind happens at night (thus the reason that some TX electric plans charge a lot for electricity in the day and nothing for electric from 9pm to 6am.

You can't ignore it, because you can't build a reactor if the people in the proposed location are against it.

Your point about people in a location being against it is cogent.

But your attempt to speak "for the masses" is a fallacious argument.

Enjoy your multi-culti insect earth friendly alloted 3 meals a day. Those wild texans and rednecks are so uncivilized. The cavemen had it right. The only problem was they were not eco friendly with all that wood burning.

OK. I guess it's just a lack of will that explains why there hasn't bee a new plant in 20 years.

As the government lead anti-White policies severely and negatively impact young Whites, especially White males.
They will become unable to compete in a harsh anti-White work force and therefore find it very difficult to support a family.

Which is what is desired. The removal or demise of White males. Which there is no doubt a concentrated effort to destroy them.

As a white male....

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Hi All
Clean energy by definition is energy that can be utilized without leaving hazardous waste. To me at least that doesn't include nuclear energy.

That doesn't include any energy then.

Wind and water all all cool simply because of the 'act of respect' towards our collective home planet.

Though nothing in the world is free, and 'harvesting' power from even small 'gears' of nature will have sort of like a butterfly effect.
Some random tree patch somewhere will slowly get parasites because of small distaurbances in the wind's force ( :D the FORCE ) and thus humidity, routes of insects and birds will change and the tree patch can die off, the birds occopying its canopy will be forced to relocate which in turn will cause territorial skirmishes between bird packs, the abundance of bird remains will attrack a pair of vultures, and so on.

Hi All

Can't argue that.

Please stop saying "Hi All" in every reply. Once is enough. That's about as redundant as signing your post with your username when the forum already tells everyone your username.

"Hi All" at the top is more environmentally friendly than 3 lines of system specs at the bottom :p

Some people are raised in an atmosphere of this yearning for a high level of showing respect (which, to think about it, will yield more friends than enemies, so it's beneficial).
I sometimes do it when I'm on a board I seldom visit.

Technically I think I'm still right. I don't think it's open yet (but I'll take my lumps on this and admit I didn't know), but as a 43 year old project, it's not exactly new either.

That said, when we start seeing new reactors being approved and breaking ground in cities around the U.S. we can talk about how Nuclear is the future. That a reactor is came on line, or is coming on line soon, after 43 years, does not lead me to the conclusion that we're entering a new age of nuclear energy.

Is that what those lines are. I see them, but figure they're off topic so I don't read them ;)

Hi All

Hydro electric energy,

Which causes ecological damage. Which is why more simply won't really won't be built in the US. Some small hydro, but no big hydro.

Solar energy and Wind farms don't leave hazardous waste.

Like fuck they don't. The manufacture of the components for solar and wind includes hazardous waste.

In addition, since solar and wind farms are solar PLUS natural gas and wind PLUS natural gas in most cases, you're still producing CO2.

Technically I think I'm still right.

Okay, I know when to stop headbutting monoliths... Have fun.
