Black Friday Booty! What Did You Get?

Best Buy had them on Thursday night and Friday, Fry's had them on Thursday as well but they were long gone before most anyone could even think about it. I know of a few people that are basically proud and happy of the fact they went in and snatched up ALL OF THEM leaving other customers wondering why someone has to be so freakin' greedy.

Not the best phone there is but for $10 I was planning to get one myself. I checked the Fry's website twice and it claimed they had some in stock at my store here in Las Vegas, then I called the store and was on hold for close to 8 mins before someone actually picked up and did a stock check for me.He said they had 37 in stock and I double verified it before I decided to make the trip - I asked if he'd put one off to the side and he flat out refused. I got his name before I ended the call and headed out the door.

Got there, went to the prepaid section of the smartphone department, didn't see them, went and found the guy I spoke with on the phone and he said someone came in about 20 mins before I got there and grabbed all of them, literally every one of them they had on the hooks, threw 'em in a shopping cart and went to the checkouts.

The ad did actually say 1 per customer so I don't know how the hell that person managed to do that - on Thursday that price was for promo code customers only meaning those of us on the Fry's email list where they send us a code that we provide to the cashier and get the promo code price of $9.99.

1 per customer with a promo code and that person bought 37 of them in one transaction apparently with 37 promo codes.

I'm really starting to hate that Fry's, I had a problem there last week and the Manager on duty looked at me like I was batshit insane when I described the horrible customer service pushed on me during that visit: wrong pricing in the ink refills department for a black inkjet refill (passed on it because they pissed me off - the website had one price, in store they tried to double it saying I was wrong even when I showed them the price on my damned smartphone pulled directly from their public website), then in the laptop department one of their machines I was looking at didn't have an Internet connection and they wouldn't enter the password so I could check something.

Unfortunately there's no local place like Fry's so I don't have much choice when I need a component. :(

Just be glad you have Fry's. The closest thing I have is Best Buy -- the nearest Fry's to me is 220 miles away, in Duluth, GA.

I was, years ago, I helped construct the store (literally) and then worked there from opening day to maybe 8 months in and then I realized that was enough bullshit for one lifetime and moved on.

And yes, I'm happy there is one here that I have easy access to, sure, but even so there are times when I just feel like screaming as loudly as I can at some of the stupid shit they do but that would just get me banned from the store so luckily I have a very high level of self-control. :D

Sennheiser 598 $95
LG ultrawide 29 inch $150
Logitech 910 Orion spark $90

A Blu-ray (Kingsman) from Target for $10 plus tax.

Yeah... I didn't come out ahead on that one. Waited in line for twenty minutes for a Galaxy Note 5 purchase with a free $250 gift card and they told me they didn't have any more. I guess it didn't help that didn't get there until well after Thanksgiving dinner.

Got an i5-4690K and a Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3 board for $250. Time to start a new build.

Moto E for $9.99.

Hardware isn't as nice as the Moto G 2013 but what's nice about is it's virtually unlocked multicarrier US GSM as long as you remove the prepaid SIM before turning it on. If just using on WIFI and as a VOIP phone the G is better.

I only grabbed a denon x2200w (marked down to 599) to compliment my shiny new un65js9500

Hardrives for backups and a few Logitech mice.

It's a superb phone for the price. It's as smooth as my 2013 Moto X.

xbox one tomb raider edition with 1tb hard drive for 350 plus free controller. Plus madden 2016 for half off. And I got 40 dollars back in rewards and cash back for using my best buy card. I couldn't pass up on that deal the extra controller and half off xbox life sold me on it cuz I would have needed it anyways. I don't game much and didn't feel like spending money on building a gaming rig. This will take care of my occasional gaming needs. And I have to play next gears of war big fan, lol.

They have customer feedback slips by all their registers (or used to) whether or not anyone really reads them is a different story I guess. But yeah, I ordered a 4690K through their website for store pick up, because there's no way I'm driving 40+ minutes and being told their out of stock, get an email back that says their processing the request, should get a confirmation in 20 minutes, 1hr40 minutes later still nothing, I call, they tell me they don't even have the order in, meanwhile I'm looking at the website and see my order is there. They say they have plenty but they'll put one aside for me as a nice gesture. (even though their recording before says they can't do that), they say how busy they are... this is yesterday too not BF. I go, return my 4790K (no one was at returns for 10 minutes), I don't see a terribly crowded store at all, some employees are riding around on those little segway like scooters. Yeah they totally look busy. Get to the register, of course having to explain to the guy that I don't have an email confirmation is really fun, they can't find it, I tell him I'll go and get one from the processor area and just have it rung up, he goes back to look again comes back out, apparently they put it under my first name and not last. Fine, he rings it up.. $167.50+tax... wait what? it's supposed to be $159, he tries to explain, I try to explain whip out my phone, can't get any signal in the store at all, ask about wifi, of course not, my wife stays at the register I go outside bam bring up their website $159, back inside and show him, ah ha! well it's not the same UPC code... of course it's not. It's the same processor but that's irrelevant, so he asks me to go to the processor/ram area to get a code, kind of what I offered to do in the first place. Go there, show them the number they punch some numbers wammo print me up a slip... except the printer doesn't print a slip, it just starts shooting up out tons of paper, I actually get quite amused at this point. One of the guys there actually writes the number down on a piece of paper to keep things easy, go back, get my processor, go on my merry way, get home quite a bit later, get an email that says my order is ready for pickup, that was sent about an hour after I left the store.

Glad I only really do this trek once every few years. Its just the in store only prices were approaching MicroCenter in terms of value, so I had to go. First for a case, then for the i7, then I downgraded for the i5 and now have almost $100 more for a video card... that I will absolutely be ordering online.
