am I retarded? HP/Rad meter isn't always shown on the screen? I swore it was now it only shows up when I'm being hurt or taking on radiation.

4 hours real time maybe more...How long did you wait? It takes a while. As in, a few real-life hours.
So far the buggiest place in the game for me has been Vault 81...a number of bugged quests, NPCs disappearing, etc.
Much improved welcoming sign.
I don't believe it does but the auto detect settings thing needs work With my 7970cf it detected ultra settings which is fine, but for my 770m laptop it detected low settings. For the 770m I was able to use high settings and textures and decals at ultra just fine. For both of these setups I did have to set god rays to low.Does the game require really good hardware specs?
Can't say for sure, but it looks like Skyrim, so if you can run that, chances are you'll be good to go.
Its definitely more demanding then skyrim. My laptop runs skyrim at 1080 with pretty much everything on high/maxed out. Fallout 4 I needed to put a few things on medium/low. It's a good starting point but don't expect to be able to run FO4 as well as Skyrim.
Don't worry about it too much, it's not that "hardcore" of a game where builds can cripple your character. Just put points in stuff you find fun (rifle damage if you like rifles, crafting if you like crafting, etc.)
They really should have made the base defense stuff a quest that pops up. The dialogue you get I swear is either too quick or you never actually see it. Twice now I have received a message that I failed a defense at a location that I had no idea needed defending.
Quick question. I have been ocd'in on getting some mods installed and getting the game ready to play. I finally made a character to roll with but am just about to leave the vault and it asks me if I want to change anything. Of course I spend the next hour making sure reading forum threads on builds and I ended up exiting out and watching TV.
I just want to enjoy the game and not regret a certain build. I heard that the points you spend really don't have that much of an impact as you can max out pretty much everything as there is no cap, but I also read that you have to choose what kind of build you want to roll with early as you can seriously gimp your character if you don't do it right. WTF?
I decided that I was going to go high on intelligence as building better weapons and controlling robots seems cool, but I also like blasting the crap out of things and bashing enemies as well. So, I decided to drop all the points to 3-4 and I put luck at 8. I heard that this build rocks....Anyone got any more suggestions?

Yeah don't worry about it. I didn't pay attention and in hind sight at lvl 18 I'd have done it differently but no worries as its more reason to level up and get more points to apply
Only advice I would give is to put 6 into CHA if you want to do settlement stuff. Then, high-ish INT to level faster. Other than that, whatever.
You're definitely thinking about it too much. I put a lot into intelligence and charisma, then evened them out between strength and agility, leaving luck the least. I'm at level 28 and maybe half way through the main quest line and I have a ton of perks/stats up'd
Guys how do you make a bed?
Using your workbench > It's under Furniture > Beds - believe it requires cloth and steel.
I believe that they do put it as a quest...I know I've missed a few also, and now I start checking my PiPBoY to find what I didn't see/hear. I have caught a few this way. I notice you can delay new attacks if you finish (2 I think it is..) take out the raiders/mutants/ghouls. If you don't turn them in right-a-way you most likely will not get new ones until you do turn them in. But don't wait too long - or they will eventually fail as well (I think you get a 2-4 game days? gotta love old saves!).
^ +1 the sleeping bed is all you need, just make sure its inside a closed building. if its outside or in a building with no doors, settlers wont be happy.
They put it in miscellaneous I believe.
That said, if you want to complete them. Just reload. The game auto saves before a fast travel. And while I can't say with absolute certainty because I've only had one raid. It seems to fail after a fast travel. I just fast travel to where I'm needed... or run there.
