So, my fan on my old AMD Phenom 2 x4 965 cpu seems to not be managing so well... Its been a few years sense I installed it but I believe it has the stock cooler on it anyways..

Anyone current on their knowledge of air cooling have a fan suggestion for a replacement? I game with this system (guild wars 2 mostly) and with their HoT expansion its been really revving up...

You'd think the video card would be the misbehaving piece, but its this damn thing instead.. Video card is an ATI Raedeon HD 7800 series if any one ponders this...

Damn game starting to crash when the fan is running like hell. I've taken the compressor to the heatsink, but the fins over the years just get coated with shit I guess.. And yes.. I do use a moisture filter on the compressor :-p

Now.. What the hell works for a good cpu fan these days? maybe being winters coming up mount the damn case to the window and leave it open? :)

Hyper 212 evo is always a good one. I've got a stock phenom heatsink (the good one with heatpipes) I'm willing to sell if you want that :)

Another vote for the Evo 212. Once you use it and realize how much cooler and quieter it is over a stock cooler you'll never go back.

Before checking with you guys I actually looked at this cooler pondering it. I think its worth a shot.. This poor cpu has been through hell with me on world of warcraft and guild wars 2 in raid like situations...

Awesome, buying a used one from a member on this forum... He made me a deal I couldn't reasonably refuse :) Looking forward to installing this hsf on my cpu
