The s6 edge + makes all other phones look like garbage scrap

Am I the only one who thinks a curved-edge display like this is one of the stupidest fucking ideas ever? Why would you want screen distortion at the edges?

Probably. I congratulate Samsung for bringing new ideas to the forefront. I understand some people like the same old boring design, and same old boring o/s. And I'm not pointing at Apple.

Speaking of curved edges, the Edge phones are obviously bad but even the current crop of phones (iPhone 6, Note 5, etc.) often have curved glass on the sides making it difficult to apply a regular screen protector and nearly impossible to apply edge to edge tempered glass screen protectors.

Although I'm not pleased with the SD810 throttling in my Nexus 6P, I'm definitely glad the (same as Note 5) AMOLED on the N6P has a sheet of flat glass in front of it.

Obviously bad? How so? The only issue I've had with my E+ is finding a good screen protector. I've tried many, ranging in price from $7 to $40. I returned them all.

I have no idea where the justification for this statement comes from. I'm not a Samsung fan, but this statement is completely false.

Bad in terms of too much curve causing edges to dig into hands as well as difficulty fitting screen protectors not that they're bad phones. Don't be so jittery, I'm not criticizing anything other than the difficulties specific to curved screens.

The edge phones are uncomfortable to hold especially during phone calls, the screen distorts at the edges (can be annoying with certain light) and it really doesn't add anything useful. The "edge" on the Note 5 is way more practical, basically an edge on the back of the phone, which helps with holding the phone.

I agree with this. The curved screen edges are solely to look cool, and I dislike the edge distortion and the feel in the hand. It just wasn't explained that way in the quote I questioned.

It might not have been clear but it was supposed to have been on the subject of curved screens. Anyway, I hope it's clear now.

But mi7chy has told me that it is great innovation. I'm supremely certain he has to be right about this. :D

I keep looking for this "distortion" everyone mentions. I certainly don't see it on any videos I watch. I am not a mobile gamer, so maybe that's where people are concerned?

It's not so much the "distortion", it's more of the light reflecting differently off the edge.

All screens will distort color at angles, its what happens with the light spectrum. Its hard to tell with TV's because you are rarely close enough to see the distortion at angles and there's usually enough power to decrease the distortion enough to not notice the distortion (plasma).

But I agree, I think the S6 Edge looks cool and fancy but utterly useless. Going back to phones with curved screens to contort to the face or your hands would make much more sense.

The misunderstanding here is they're using the wrong word to describe their issue with it, it's not distortion, it's the glare from the edges of the glass since no matter what way you hold the device, light from the sides of the phone will invariable hit the rounded glass and create a bright glare/reflection on it.

If you are impressed by the S6 Edge... you'd lose your shit if you got to play with a Nexus 6P, power, 1440p sexy amoled, amazing camera, the first true awesome fingerprint scanner, and battery life out the ass. Not to mention pure android, not the crap that samsung chokes a device out with.

Love their hardware though, I have a Samsung TV and a Washer, top notch stuff.

I checked out an S6 Edge the other day at an AT&T store for the first time, and while it's a pretty impressive piece of kit, I have a fondness for LG's recent products with the G2/G3/G4 series. I even grabbed an LG G Stylo aka "LG Note 4" from someone on craigslist last week just to have a spare device around and it actually is a pretty damned nice piece of hardware itself.

But while I was there at the AT&T store I turned around from the Samsung display and voila, the LG lineup and the V10 was just begging me to take it home, seriously. ;)

I said recently that if I could have any smartphone on the market today (like someone just said "Pick one and it's yours) it would have been the BlackBerry Priv because I really like that device, but after playing with a V10 there in the store for like all of 5 minutes flat I was in love with the V10, seriously.

I can't get one at the moment but it's most assuredly the smartphone I'd choose if some wealthy benefactor took pity on me with me still using my 2+ year old Droid MAXX (which I also love tremendously).

That V10 is one seriously awesome piece of kit, definitely. The Edge is nice, but the V10 has "the edge" over it for me (pun very much intended). :p
