Three Monitor / Displayport Question

Hi Guys,

I just purchased a third monitor (Benq xl2411z) for 144hz gaming, and am having trouble finding some answers to my situation. Currently I have a Qnix 27" (2560x1440) connected via DVI-D and a Receiver (with TV downstream) connected via HDMI. Given that the Benq and the Qnix are DVI-D only, I've found out I need to run something off DisplayPort.

Which way do I go:

  • DisplayPort to HDMI to transmit the audio/video for the Receiver/TV
  • DisplayPort to DVI-D for the Qnix @ 2560x1440
  • DisplayPort to DVI-D for the Benq @ 144hz & 1080p

The active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter below seems to be the first choice, assuming it can pass the audio. Reason being, I use the receiver to power the speakers, so when the receiver/TV is 'disabled', no audio will be transmitted.

Thanks in advance for the help!

As a bit of an update, I purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and tested with it. With the 1440 screen hooked up via DVI, the 1080 screen hooked up via DVI and the TV hooked up via DisplayPort to HDMI, I still cannot get three monitors to run simultaneously. Wondering what I am missing? I guess the next step is to return the Benq/1080 and purchase a 144hz display that has Displayport native to it.

The bottom DVI port is single-link only, but the top DVI port is dual-link.

Since you go beyond 1080p @60Hz on all 3 monitors why are you using DP-DVI adapters to both the Benq and Qnix?

Not sure if that adapter is active, just looking at comments / threads that reference it.

I have yet to try DP-DVI adapters on the benq and/or qnix, I have only tried a DP-hdmi for the TV (which works, but not with all three simultaneously). The benq and the qnix only do DVI in, so one of them will have to take an adapter, right? I could be misunderstanding your question.
