The domain name is a free to register for one year if you pay the ICANN fee which is 11.76 Rs (Indian Rupees) - at the current exchange rates that works out to 18 cents USD ($0.18) and about 17 to 19 Euro (.17 to .19 Eu) so, not bad at all if you can think of a creative domain name. I failed on my first and second guess but the third time was the charm so I suppose now I have to wonder if this is really of any use to me at all. I figured it can't hurt for 18 cents, even I ain't that broke. :)

Just passing along the info in case anyone is interested, not sure how long this offer will last and they are clearly stating it's for a limited time so get creative and register soon.

Do you know if I'd be able to transfer these to Hover? I'd prefer to keep all my domain names in one place (all three of them, lol).

what about after 1 year?

I think it goes up to full price. But, you can transfer it to NameCheap (or whoever) and possibly get in on their introductory .xyz pricing. I know NameCheap is $1.99 for the first year, then $10.50/yr afterwards (there's almost always a 10-20% discount code for them, so you could subtract that as well). If you transfer away sooner than later, it just stacks (so you'd be at 2 years, instead of 1 if you could do it immediately).

I got mine. Thanks OP. Good timing on this, as I was contemplating getting an .xyz domain as it actually fit my planned name.

I just signed up for one and it looks like the transfer fee is 795 Rupees (12 USD). Kind of regretting this now. lol

Free XYZ Domain Name Only on Hostinger

Not to bump these, but did anyone successfully get a domain from Hostinger? The one I signed up and paid for just got cancelled somehow. I put the order through 11/11/15 according to the invoice, paid, and thought it was all good. It was cancelled for reason "already registered". WhoIS shows someone grabbed it on 12/5.

No refund given. Shady practices.

The one domain I registered does show that it's "mine" but I've never bothered to attempt to host anything with it since acquiring it. It doesn't show up on any domain whois either as registered to me, not ICANN or Internic so who knows. I will probably never bother with it in the future to be honest, was going to gift it to a friend that was looking for some domain to work with but at this point he's not interested either, go figure.
