Star Wars: Battlefront Reboot

Maybe they should of stuck with a good single player campaign like KOTOR was and then added a Arena MP mode.

Amy Hennig is doing the single player Star Wars game for EA. She was hired just to do this in 2014. If you figure that it takes 5 years to make a game, and deduct the fact that the assets such as engine conversion for a rpg like Dragon Age Inquisition are already there; I would surmise that we should see the game in 2017.

exactly 1 month till Force Awakens!!...

EA should have made the early access 'Battle of Jakku' Battlefront story more then just a 1 week early exclusive...1 week is nothing...

Played a good bit tonight... very first impressions were kind of underwhelming from a gameplay standpoint. However, after a couple hours of play it rapidly started growing on me. It's extremely fun and I can't wait to see how they balance the game, and what they have in store for the DLC packs.

Great graphics but the game doesn't seem to have much depth. I'm bored after 4 hrs. Seems like once you've played each map a few times there's not much left. This game has potential but man I'm kinda just trying to soak this in..was really excited for this.

Cargo is the best mode in the game. Leagues beyond the cluster fuck of imbalance that is Walker Assault.

I enjoy walker assault, it can be a bit difficult on Endor but theres only one walker. I've noticed that as long as most people know when to focus fire and so far the ion torpedo and even the pulse canon star cards tend to help, I'm sure theres better cards but that's all I've unlocked.

seems like a common theme running through most of the official reviews is that the game looks stunning (visual and audio), nails the SW atmosphere and is a lot of fun- for a few days...I wonder what the game will feel like after 2-3 months and will most people feel like they got their money's worth...I think SW fans will but other casual fans or BF experts will not

This is the initial offering money-grab, the new-BF2 (1.5-2yrs from now) will be the "deep" full fledged title with all the Force Awakens content.

So is it easy to play with your friends? Cause that was a deal breaker in the beta.

The faq said you can join a party with up to 8 friends and end up on the same server on the same team? Does that work?

Are there squads? It was annoying not to know where you friend was by glancing on the mini map.

Can people join the group already playing on a server? My 2 friends join a server as a group. So my bro and I sometime later and want to join those 2 friends already playing? Can we just join them? Or do those 2 friends need to quit and we all join a party and queue up as a new group of 4.

Odd I didn't have trouble paying with friends during the beta.

If I joined my buddy during the Beta in the middle of a match, I would sometimes be placed on the opposing team. During the first intermission, I would be moved onto his team. Still waiting on my GMG key to see if this is how it works on the live servers.

I agree with you, although I do like how quickly it is to get into a match and start playing. That might make it a good pop in and play for quick sessions

The worst culprit has to be the aerial combat mode. It didn't seem to have anymore depth than get behind an enemy plane and start shooting, or have an enemy plane get behind you and start shooting. I was bored with that mode after 2 minutes.

Odd I didn't have trouble paying with friends during the beta.

I never had problems in a group of two, but in a group of three things got dicey. We had a difficult time just getting everyone into the same game. Matchmaking didn't do well at finding servers with three open slots. With three players, I don't think we ever ended up with a match where all three of us were on the same team.

I had a blast last night. I enjoyed playing Supremacy on Endor. Picked up the hero power-up and wound up 18-0 playing Han Solo. That character seems OP. I even took out the Emperor. Also, with this map is easy to hide in.

BTW - The graphics are insane in this game.

I was watching a stream last night and a guy went 62-0 with boba fett in walker assault and i was like man this game is so balanced...not.

We had a group of eight and it was fine.

Or noobs didn't bother to shoot him and let it happen. It's not common that heroes score that high.

I reserve balance judgments until at least a week goes by and people have started to get some unlocks and learned the maps. Easy to beat up on noobs that are running around like chickens with their heads cut off, but you don't balance a game around rank 1's on their first day.

I'm curious; why did they remove the timer on heroes?

I was watching multiple streamers wreck entire matches with them for almost an entire match.

Played about 30 mins of Walker Assault so far. I'm having fun. It's not a deep shooter, but I also don't feel it is over the top arcadey either. It's an OK balance. I would have preferred Battlefield: Star Wars, but I understand why they wanted to go with something more "accessible" for a broader market.

For a DICE game, this is remarkably playable at launch, I'll give them that.

The mini-map is comically terrible though. They're trolling us with that, right?

I've mostly played walker assault and have yet to see the empire win on Endor. Everytime I play it on the xbone the rebels crush it.

Tatooine is off balanced giving the Empire the advantage but it isn't too bad. Hoth and Sullust are pretty even from my experience. They did adjust the lines you can't pass as like rebels on Hoth so at the beginning you can't get on that hill behind the one checkpoint and just rain hell on the spawn which is good.

The spawn points still need a lot of work. I was getting crushed the other day by spawn killers both just waiting for me to spawn and others leaving proxy mines.

I was watching multiple streamers wreck entire matches with them for almost an entire match.

They at least removed the option to gain health by killing with them as well. Personally I think the timer would be better. The hero's can be way overpowered.

Walker Assault on Hoth isn't happening for the Empire, every game I play they lose. Endor I've seen go either way and its about 50/50. Tattoine walker assault has been an Empire win in all the games I've played.

As expected they over-corrected the Hoth balance from the beta since people complained Rebels couldn't win, when the reality was that most Rebels were too busy playing TDM to concern themselves with objectives.

AT-ST's also last about 5 seconds now due to nerfage, everybody's got a lockon Ion Torpedo and they shoot across the whole map, so as soon as you spawn in an AT-ST you instantly get "Enemy is locking on" and die in two shots.

JackFrags explains it pretty well here (10 things that can be improved in Battlefront) https://youtu.be/heS0l2gryyo

I think the PC Gamer review nailed the overall vibe of the game in a fair and balanced way...

"After 20 hours with the game, I feel like I’ve seen everything several times over...I’m bored of most of the maps, and only feel compelled to return to a handful of its nine modes...There’s little depth to uncover, which has really harmed its longevity for me...I don’t feel like my skills have developed in any meaningful way—as they would after 20 hours of something like Counter-Strike—because it’s so basic

But games are for everyone, and not every player wants a super deep FPS to master...Battlefront is, for all its flaws, wonderfully accessible...It’s polished, easy to play, and the interface is simple and intuitive...they’ve created a game that anyone can play—from kids to adults—and that’s admirable...everyone loves Star Wars, and Battlefront reflects that mainstream, cross-generational appeal...but the downside of chasing such a broad audience is that, as a competitive shooter, it’s fairly shallow..."

Loving the squadron mode... I can't be fussed with ground shooter, but the squadron mode :) the glorious days of Xwing vs Tie Fighter and Xwing: Alliance came back. It's fun, it's engaging, and I'm loving it. Oh, and pity the fools flying with mouse. My T.16000M works perfect :)

Now, one question though - how do you choose sides? After an Imperial game I'm usually forced to play another as rebel. I hate playing on traitors side. Is there any way, to get yourself locked for Imperial side?

No team switching, unfortunately. Also, if you're Imperial for one map the next you'll be the scummy rebels the next map and back and forth.

Btw, Drop Zone is so much goddamn fun

Btw, Drop Zone is so much goddamn fun

Becomes even more fun once you get the jetpack and personal shield, like the beta had. Wish they hadn't buried the Cycler at Lvl 23, but oh well. I guess it means not everyone's already running around with 'em.

One other thing... Dice didn't even bother with proper joystick support. Yes - the stick is recognised and you can use it, but it doesn't allow to remap the buttons and the throttle aint working. So one hand on keyboard to control evasive manouvers/speed and having target locked, and the other on joy.

I wish I could get my money back, but I didn't get home in time and missed the 24hr mark.

Anyone using the traits?
Bounty Hunter looks awesome!

Haven't worked my way that far yet but I hear Bodyguard is supposed to be the shit (explosive damage reduction), since the grenade spam is real now that everyone has realized they can equip both an impact and regular grenade at the same time at Rank 6. Wouldn't be surprised if DICE limits this soon to just one grenade choice per hand/loadout.

But then Survivalist starts your health regen sooner. I don't know, they all sound good.

Yeah they need to address the gren spam. Not as bad as something like BF2 but still goddamn ridiculous.

This is all I've played lately.

Ah nades are definitely a top killer. lol
However, you still have to throw it right in most occasions.
What pisses me off the most is the homing rocket. It's too OP and is a one hit kill pretty much.

Also, a little annoyed at how a kill is executed.

In Hero Hunt, it's whoever deals the final blow, gets to be the hero. This is kind of lame, as players can just sit back and bait the team until the final hit is required. (Making the team do all the work and then reaping the benefits.)

It should be random selection for the hero on this mode , or atleast give everyone a shot to play as the hero in the round. Players who deal the final blow can still have their kill, but it becomes very easy to exploit this issue and it kills the fun factor of it, imo.

i finally got around to playing on Endor last night, holy shit this game is gorgeous.

Endor is great, I love Endor. Its hilarious running through the foilage and then coming face to face with Darth Vader.

This game runs so smooth and looks amazing. It's fun and action packed. It's incredibly polished too.

Bethesda gives us buggy crap like fallout 4 and people still bitch about Battlefront?!?! Wtf are you people smoking???
