It's about that time of year again where we speculate and begin builds for what we think might be going up on the deal this year. I say every year I don't know if I am going to build something and then end up doing it anyway.

For those who aren't sure what this is or if they qualify etc. go to retailedge.intel.com, check the FAQ, and if you qualify go and start doing the learning modules NOW. So much easier to do a few here and there starting immediately rather than waiting till the last minute and grinding it out. Also, if you have been doing it the whole time, get your employment verified asap so that any unforeseen complications can be overcome quickly. It lasts 90 days so it will easily get you through the Holiday Deal window of purchase.

For this year's Holiday Deal I am going with a new comer in the form of an i7 6700k and the returning high end chip of i7 5930k. What does everyone else think?

Not sure what they are going to offer but I speculate it will be revealed on the 18th.

As a participant the last 4 years for the retail edge deal, I whole-heartedly agree with the OP. Spot on.

Well they updated the "deal" page, but didn't divulge what the new deal is yet...

http://retailedge.intel.com/50/asmo/rewards#deal

Maybe we will see something updated Monday.

This looks like the same deal page that I am used to. At least it looks the same.

So who 8s this for and what does it do?

Retail employees whose place of business is on the partner list for Intel. With the right amount of participation you can get Intel products for a discounted price.

The page previously had "The summer deal has ended.." At least it updated to say the winter deal is coming soon.

I became a Legend two months back and received a care package pretty sweet...

I would say no but now with the prize drawings it's a new addiction...
I'm on the site like everyday now....

If a contest isn't going on I'll go on there once a week.

Really don't want to bilk Intel for what it's worth It's a fun site.....hell they got me out of the FX 8350 hole.....

I'm betting same as summer deal. Not enough sky lake to go around and they probably want to get rid if ddr3 sticks from the chips store.

I got busy on October and forgot to log in. That would've been my legend status......... Have to start another year 😞

Hmmmm, that could very well happen. I went to look at retail and saw them at $400 and was a little shocked.

from my experience, since 2011, they always repeat the same deal because the new chips are usually released within 2-3 mos of the deals. also, the chip stores get flooded with parts like coolers, cases, PSUs, RAM, etc.

Im thinking Spring will be 6700K and 5930K and then hopefully next Winter deal we'll see 6700k and 6930K or whatever IB-E is and it will be an 8core version.

So you guys don't think the 6700k will be offered next month??

Endlesszeal makes a good point. I haven't watched the trend historically but it could be another 4790k and 5930k. I am hoping the 6700k only because it has been out a while now a 4790k is last gen. I don't know if they would sell many other than people reselling them.

My guess is that it's Skylake this time, last years 2014 holiday deal and then this summer's was 4790 so it'd be a 3peat if they did it again... just a guess

I've been doing retailedge since 2010 and the summer deals have always been a repeat of the winter deals. Never have I seen a 3peat on processors. I have a good feeling it will be producer level prices of $99 6700k and $199 5930k.

I'm expecting an announcement of the items on sale first week of December.

how many can you buy? 1 only?

I just signed up for retail edge, started working for staples, and have a couple of questions.

What do I need to do to take advantage of the winter deals? I'm assuming I need to start working on the certificates and learning activities? Is it possible to get these done in the amount of time I have?

Will they ship to a different address you have listed with your employer? Had to use my parents address to get verified because that's the one I gave to my employer.

Yes, just one. In the past it was one item from two categories. Though, my memory is so bad... but, I think this past summer's and last winter was just one item, period - which was a choice of between 4790k and the 5930k.

You'll need to verify your employment; via paystub, company email etc...

You need to work towards learnings and certificates to get to "producer" status and when the deals open up, you'll have to complete the learnings required; the site will tell you. And it is easily doable before the deals open up for order.

You definitely can ship to a different address.

Awesome thanks for the answers, just got verified!

Considering upgrading to a 4790k depending on the deals, though a x99 setup would be pretty sweet!

The higher the status, the cheaper the chip. It's roughly a $20 difference between steps I think.

Imo it's worth to go higher if u have the time because some reward items are only available to higher statuses like video cards and low quantity items. I remember I got a i7 750, Intel board, 6gb ram and psu for free with my chips and some of those were only for the higher tiers.

Half way to master status with 75 lessons done. Quickest way to get the first rank so you can buy is to do all the 1000 chip lessons.

Any guesses to what will be offered? Same as last 2 with 4790k & 5930k or will we possibly see Skylake? The 400gb 750 would be pretty sweet!

So far 4790k or 6700k being the mainstream with the 6700k just being really nice if offered. The 5930k will almost definitely be the high end offering again, though. They haven't included ssd's for a while but I would jump on a 750 like crazy.

Killer deal on the 4790k and 5930k. The intel 750 is cheaper at MC and the same price as newegg lol.

wish i could still do this, I want to make a x99 build to last me forever =[

whatever, rah rah - like it says " We did offer the same processors during our Summer Deal, but they still offer amazing, unlocked performance for your next rig. So, what’s new?

and didn't mention also the same as last years Holiday deal... like it says, So what's new?

Holy crap, they really did a 3peat this time around. I am surprised.

Atleast they brought out the SSD deal

Wow. Very disappointing.

Guess i'll just get a 4790k and save it for the test bench.

The SSD isn't a deal at all since its cheaper on newegg ($250).

Hmm, I was hoping for Skylake but the 4790K is still a good deal. I've been itching to upgrade but at the same time there is some sentimental value keeping me with my trusty i7 860 which has yet to fail me :p. I could use the money too hehe. Darn adulting!

Too bad no 6700k, didnt expect it though.

Now the debate in my head begins... Keep my old components and sidegrade to the 4790k for pretty much free (as I can sell my 4690k) or spend the extra $400-500 to upgrade to x99 and the 5930k.

I know for most of you here it would be a no-brainer.

I upgraded from the 4790k to 5930k, not really worth it IMHO especially for the extra cost associated. Great for bragging rights but honestly it doesn't make my day to day any better.

i was really hoping id be wrong and skylake would be offered. regardless, its still super sweet for intel to be doing this for people.

*must resist until skylake-e*

only if you would actually use the extra RAM and extra cores or PCIe lanes. I could use the CPU for PS and encryption but I already have a PS computer so I really don't need 2. I just need single thread.
