A Picture I Took 2015

jamsonito, great shots of your son and wife. That is good light.

Daggah, excellent sunset photos of the buildings.

locutus24, old buildings are fun to explore and think about their "past lives".

I've just successfully processed 3 rolls of slide film. The first one has a bad color cast (which is fixable with scanning), but the last two look really good. I think they are even cleaner than what I got at a professional place. Haven't scanned any that I can post yet, but I'm really proud of stepping up from B&W film developing. Only thing that makes it more tough is the need for the chemicals to be at a precise 100F and not room temp of 68F or "thereabouts". As I type this I'm waiting for the chemicals to warm back up in a water bath.

Edit: Awesome these rolls have some nice sunsets and some cools storm cloud shouts. I'll definitely have something to post on Monday when I get a chance to scan them. I didn't label 8 out of the 10 rolls I took in September. That isn't good, since I would have processed the best rolls first on fresher chemicals.

Great shots Daggah! Jealous of getting to go to all those great locations.

Well, keep in mind that right now, under normal circumstances, I'm locked to base. I can't explore Turkey at all and it's probably going to be that way for the next 10 months until I leave. But visiting other European countries from here is really cheap, so for my sanity, I basically have to travel.

Taken with an old automatic point and shoot the Canon Sure Shot AF35 38mm 1:2.8 the first version that only has an ISO setting from 25 to 400. Used "FPP RetroChrome High Speed 320 Color slide film and developed it myself in Unicolor Rapid E6 chemicals.

I'm frankly surprised these turned out. I had written them off right after taking them thinking the metering was to hard for an auto camera, then forgot about them until I saw them hanging to dry in my shower stall. And to top it off, I didn't even know if the camera worked, since I bought it at Goodwill for $3.

Had my first film developing scare tonight. Was basically sick to my stomach for 45 minutes. I accidentally exposed 2 rolls to room light right at the beginning of my development process. I didn't have the light blocking funnel at the top of the tank clicked in tight and it fell half way out while dumping the presoak water out. After the 45 minute process I was able to see the damage and it looks like I lost 4 frames on the top roll of the tank, and the top edge is a bit whiter on all the others. Bottom roll is A-OK. All in all it could have been a lot worse.

Nice shot, but I feel like the sheer amount of empty space would make that image better suited to a 16:9 or 21:9 crop.

Will try those crops. Lately I've been using a lot of negative space, may be too much. :D

Luke's military, isn't he?

A small point, but over on another board, a member who's just starting out as a professional photographer here in the UK had a severely annoyed client when he published online some of the photos he'd taken of the client almost immediately after the event. It was deemed as best etiquette to leave it several months unless you have explicit permission so the client can first share the photos with friends and family - some of whom may not be online, remember.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm strictly a hobbiest, not for hire (but maybe eventually?) - this is my sister-in-law. Everyone has the pics (you should have seen her Facebook page!). Flickr is where my family goes to find my pics, so nothing out of the ordinary on this one.

He really looks like a serviceman in the last pic I put up here, but a lot more like a normal dude in all the other pics. He is state police though ;)

Great job jamsomito!, there is story telling in each pics. Nice works!

At first I thought this was a picture of them holding hands... but both hands have what appears to be the same fingernail polish... What is the story behind this pic?

She's holding a champagne glass. None of this is staged at all - I'm way too shy to take pics of people regularly, so most of these were sniped as they did their thing. Sister and mom were there as well (came out after a few minutes) and they were just talking and sharing emotions. If you click on it and browse through the Flickr album, it kind of tells the story a bit better. There's a color version of this pic that might be a little less mind bending. Actually, here it is:

In this shot I was really just trying to showcase the ring.

The wife wanted to post a cherry chocolate chunk brownie recipe to allrecipes, and needed a pic.

I was happy with this considering I had no lighting other than the overhead fluorescent.

So...I never actually posted any of the pictures I took at the "Robot Restaurant" in Shinjuku way back in April...it was one of the last things I went and did in Tokyo before I left Japan. So I'll work on processing those pictures and post them.

I also have a trip to London coming up next weekend...gonna see Epica in concert. Gonna try to see if my Olympus OM-D with the Olympus 75mm f/1.8 (equivalent to a 150mm lens in 35mm/full-frame terminology) will make it past concert security...it's a bigger lens for m4/3 standards but it's still pretty unassuming compared to, say, a 70-200 f/2.8...

Just thought I'd keep things lively in here...

I was bored the other day and started playing with some old images. I saw this one from Peru and envisioned something like what you see here. Not sure what I think of it yet. The editing seems a bit forced.
