144hz 1080p 1ms $170

no idea if thats a good deal since I haven't been keeping up with anything lower than 27", wish it was 27" though.

its a pretty decent to good deal. I paid 219 for my asus vg248qe around Christmas or after... considered this acer it competes in the same class as it. Looking at pchound its been around 190 to 200 on sale couple of times, but I don't see or recall it being at this price.

if you haven't experienced a super fast panel with low latency all around, its well worth it. It makes games (especially shooters) just feel better.

The 24" bothers me as well. If it was 27" I'd have already got it.

Couldn't edit the title to add the name in.

I have never used anything above a 24 inch. I currently use the Asus 144hz. I love it. I have a friend that has a 32 inch and it is way to big for the desk. I cant figure out how it would be better for FPS gaming since you have to move your head around to look at the entire screen whereas I can just look straight at my 24inch and see everything.

I wonder what version of HDMI, and if it can support 144Hz. It would suck to have DVI as your only fully-functional input, right as that connector is being depreciated. I know VGA can handle some pretty high refresh rates at 1080P but using VGA on an LCD is ghetto, to say the least.

32 to huge, 27 just right for fps imo. Ive played on 24 inch for fps, then stepped up to 27 inch. Now I cant go back.

Edit : for desk sitting that is.

Its DVI only for the high refresh rate.

I have a 27 acer and a 28 acer on the gaming rig. For shits and giggles I put the 32 as the main display for gaming and f me it's actually not that crazy big. I used to game on a 3007wfp so I guess im used to it.

24 inch isn't bad if it's 16:10 for me. But I tried gaming on a 24 16:9 and it felt way too small. Guess I've been spoiled.

I say this is a pretty good deal, it's about the cheapest entry point you can get for a 144hz panel. I've seen some out of country ebay seller deals with some less known models dropping to $150. The next step up as far as size or resolution at 144hz is pretty much double the price of this.

As previously stated, you do need full dual link DVI for 144hz on most of these early gen budget 144hz TN monitors. It's a night and day difference if you haven't experienced a fast panel yet. Best upgrade you can give yourself if you are into shooters.

But it's not as important to get a 144hz panel unless you're a stickler for tearing.

You can already get 1ms panels for 150, and you can run the interface at 74 hz. That's fast enough for most people.

Good deal, but hard to drive in the next few years. Also, you have to buy Acer, which I'd rather not.

just an FYI, I recently jumped on this monitor from tiger direct

Disclaimer... yes I am spoiled by my ASUS ROG Swift

with that out of the way I picked this up to use on a system that had a GTX 970 on it. You can use the Toasty X utility to get ULMB which is wonderful for reducing motion blur almost all together....

however I did notice something off about this monitor. Particularly when you see objects and scenes in motion it looks as if the sharpness is set waaay to high on this monitor (this is both at 120Hz, 144Hz and 120Hz with ULB on), however there is no way to adjust it and get rid of it. You will see halos and outlines around everything. It seems as if they are driving this panel too hard and it shows in the overall picture, at times it is very hard for me to make objects out on screen (I play waaaay too much Battlefield 4). the http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/sharpness.php test also shows this is the case with the picture being way too sharp

So just throwing that out there for anyone in case IQ is a concern. Honestly I cant say this monitor has served me any better than my 2560x1440p 60Hz cheap Korean monitor due to the issue mentioned.

Good feedback

I Have 2 of these. Playing CSGO it was a huge upgrade from my older 60hz monitors. Disclaimer, I haven't gamed much in 5-7 years so all of my older LCD's were that old or more and nothing was probably faster than 4ms gtg. In any event, for the $ I feel I got a good deal. I just ordered a Benq 27" 2k monitor that was quite a bit more $$$ so I'm curious to see how much "better" this BenQ is????

I picked it up at JET.com yesterday for $135.99 Shipped tax free. Crazy deal.

It's back up to $225 on Jet.com. I called and asked them about pricematching but they only refund you the difference after you purchase it from their website and the difference is in "Jet cash." So, store credit. Not worth getting it from Jet unless they drop the actual price back down on their website.

Yeah, I didn't think they would.

I was going back and forth between 24' and 27'.

Read alot how 24" is better for 1080p? Anyway I did not buy the $170 but for $135? dang i would have done that.

Just found out about jet.com recently.

Back in stock. Wish Jet.com had a real price match system.

24" for 1080p, 27" for 1440p

27 is too big for 1080p as for a monitor IMO, it would only work if you sat further away from the screen than you did the 24", otherwise it starts to have a screendoor effect due to the 13%~ larger pixel size.

Thanks, I read that alot and have decided to stick with 24"

I can't afford a better card or to run SLI, besides the game I play doesn't support SLI yet and idk if it will.

Can't get over the idea of droping down to TN. Hopefully 144Hz IPS won't be $700 forever.

Isn't TN better for gaming for most people? No glossy glare or whatever.

Competitive twitch gaming maybe, but people here spend hundreds of dollars on GPUs, and thousands on systems, to improve quality. One would think color quality of graphics would be prioritized, but that's just my opinion.

Same argument can be made for wanting a smoother experience. There's a tradeoff unless you want to spend $700+ for a capable IPS.

And now we've gone full circle with my first reply. Really love bulletin boards sometimes.

Yeah I'm new to all this. First PC was built in March and I still use my old 60hz monitor.
