Is there anyone but me who wants to see hardocp do an updated eyefinity review....i believe its better than 4k...(puts on flamesuit)

I dunno. I sold my 3 monitors for 1 ultrawide monitor. Enjoy it better for gaming.

They should do 4K Eyefinity vs 4K NVSurround.

Edit: Let me answer that myself. Found a review elsewhere; even with Fury X in Crossfire or Titan X in SLI, you'll be confined to Medium or Normal settings in games at 11,520x2160.

I'm always interested in such reviews but I don't think you'd win that last argument. Kyle and I both ditched our long time Eyefinity / NVSurround setups for a single 48" 4K display.

Yes, I think we are on the cusp of Eyefinity / Surround becoming extinct except to a couple of niche demographics as we see 4K screens actually come into the "real" gaming realm that is acceptable by many enthusiasts. The two holdouts being auto sim racers that will surely benefit from the wider pixels perspective and the online FPS gamers that benefit as well.

This is hard to argue with with you are getting really good mouse response. If you think this might be a good idea, I highly suggest you read this setup guide.

But it surely was the shit back in 2010. I JUST got rid of those displays I originally bought for Eyefinity. I have been holding out for damn near six years. I sold them locally to a guy that is going to use them on the dyno in his garage. :)

ok maybe not better but cheaper and still as [H]ard

Here is a 55" FreeSync Korean monitor that runs a LG 4K screen for $1,044. Monitor as in Displayport and multiple HDMI 2.0 connections. The 40" version costs 1/2 of this one almost. Check out all the connections in the image below.

Like it was stated above, Eyefinity / NVsurround is good for racing titles where you can look out the side mirrors and fps so you can see more of the world in your peripheral vision.

4K renders more pixels than 1920x1200 x3, so 4K is actually more challenging graphically than our standard Eyefinity display setup was. The only way to go beyond that would be something like 3x 4K monitors, and we simply don't have that.

Honestly, I think 21:9 is taking over as the preferred aspect ratio for widescreen gaming. Me personally I want something like a 38" 21:9 display, would be perfect for me, largest size now is 34" but that is only 2560x1080, I want a 38" 21:9 3840x1440 display personally, that would be my perfect display for me.

I "still" use three screen 1920 x 1200 for all my games.

It was cool when it started with the 5000 series from AMD and I still think its better than a single screen.

The issue I have with widescreen and Eyefinity/Surround is than even now in 2015 not every game is set up for the resolutions you need right out of the box.

I cant even start to count the hours I've spent combing through forum posts over at WSGF looking for fixes.

Last two were HexDecimal fixes for MetalGearSolid V and waiting for the developer to fix a glitch in MadMax so you could simply play the game.

I actually cut my system a break going to 4k. 7680x1600 was a bit more demanding than 4k.

Is anyone using a curved ultrawide for gaming? I too have been holding out for a higher res ultrawide but have also still be contemplating going nvsurround.

That why I started a steam group on Eyefinity gaming just so I could be a curator and be able to tell others which steam games are 100% eyefinity compatible

Tempted to go 3x 4K just because, but I'd rather wait for single cards that can handle 4K before jumping in. Besides, as others have noted, Eyefinity support has been waning for a couple years now. More interested in 21:9 OLED tbh

Eyefinity just doesn't interest me. Not because I don't care for the added immersion, but I can't handle the added brightness.

I already have to crank the brightness on my screen to near zero, or else I'll get headaches from too much light exposure. But I also spend 8 hours+ working on a computer screen.

My screens are not ever going to grow beyond 24".

Yes, and it is sublime.
Final Fantasy XIV / League of Legends / Skyrim - the sheer amount of extra real estate and peripheral vision make it a fantastic experience.

I love my eyefinity setup (9600x1800) but It can be demanding in certain titles.
Still when driving in GTA5 I will always prefer it to a single monitor. When scavenging in Day Z I prefer being able to see so far out to my left and right. I do agree that for ease of us and similar experience a single 4K is a decent competitor to eyefinity, but I still think eyefinity is amazing.

I just can't give up my 5760x1200 Eyefinity setup until there is hardware that can run triple 4k Eyefinity, and by the look of it the upcoming 14nm Finfet flagship AMD gpus might do just that.
For flight sims(star citizen), fps (playing Star Wars Battlefront beta in Eyefinity was a blast) and racing games the extra field of view is hard to give up.

i love 5760x1080, i just threw it back together last night and my wife and I cant believe we lives so long w/o it. running a single 780. I need a new GPU desperately. I would take it down for a singe 29"+ 21:9 monitor though.

I like 4K but part of me wishes that ultrawide is the next format of choice. The only 4K display I've used has been on my laptop and at 15" it's impractical with text being unreadable. I've already become my parents where I have to scale up a resolution because "the icons are too small". Fuck.

With 3x 1080p I love the flexibility of switching between portrait mode and landscape depending on the game. However I would switch over to a 40-48" 4k panel in an instant given the chance. The bezels do get in the way of menus, text, etc. quite often. Also worried about future driver support - getting NVsurround to work on Win10 was a pain.

Ya I just got my eyefinity last year with a xfx 290 and it is awesome. I would just like to see a review since your last review is over 5 years old and no cards can run 4k yet. I would also love to compare game support with someone from the NVIDIA side

You can just look at the reviews for 4k and add about 25% to the FPS number. My (bezel corrected) portrait resolution is 3420x1920, which is 26.3% less pixels than 4K. So this makes the 4k "sweet spot" 47.5fps for me to expect 60fps at 3x 1080p.

But math is hard 😊

If you have never tired iRacing sims in Eyefinity then you missed the whole dam party.. notting can compare to Daytona or Tally at 190mph plus live with real people racing all around you 2 and 3 wide.. you wreck someone and it's just like real life (NASCAR) as they will hate you..

Get a 40" 4K monitor, use GPU scaling to display 3840x1440 at 1:1, and you'll have a 37.21" 21:9 image.

Whoops, when I recheck my numbers, 3840x1440 isn't 21:9 - it's 24:9, even wider. The larger "21:9" monitors are 3440x1440, but a true 21:9 resolution is actually 3440x1474. Presumably this is a result of the factory being set up for 1440 height screens of various lengths.

If you want to make a custom unscaled resolution (with black bars on top and bottom) on a 3840x2160 monitor that is the largest true 21:9 possible, make it 3840x1646. That would create a 37.93" 21:9 resolution on a 40" 4K display, which is almost exactly what Brent wants.

While I have to agree those big 4K monitors are swell, I don't think they show you the peripheral visual effects that you get with three monitor Surround or Eyefinity.

I could be wrong, but with the 4K all you are getting is a really pretty single monitor view, in other words no visual advantage over using your TV or single 30" LCD.

The lack of bezels was enough to justify upgrading my 27" portrait eyefinity setup to a single 43" 4k. Eyefinity was great, but as large 4k panels come down in price, the incentive for it gets less and less.

You are correct sir. Having said that, I was never a fan of the fish eye effect or the HUD scaling, placement, or other game breaking FOV problems so many games have in such a configuration. You ended up having to go with a 3x1 portrait configuration a lot of the time to avoid fish eye and other problems. With TN panels switching between portrait and landscape was a bitch because of the viewing angles. You also have too many PC ports done by companies that don't understand their target audience. Even games on PC which aren't multi platform often suffer from Eyefinity and NVSurround being after thoughts at best.

21:9 would actually be 3360x1440, but hey, I'm all good with 3840x1440 for an 8:3 aspect ratio.

Make it 120Hz+, non-TN, and G-Sync and that right there would be the perfect gaming monitor.

I agree they're pretty, but you forgot one huge......huge price.

I also have been tempted the last 6 months or so to buy one of those spanky 4K monitors.
Maybe santa will bring me one.....if it's OK with my wife.....

I agree, Surround/Eyefinity can/is/will always be a PITA on some games....maybe even most. But for now I'll suck it up.

About the same cost as the three 24" displays I bought for Eyefinity six years ago.....that lasted me six years.

I "sucked it up" for six years waiting for a better solution for ME....and I found it. I love gaming on this screen, it is friggin incredible. That said, I never used my 3 wide display in anything but portrait mode. I never had use for the super wide resolutions. Besides, I have to edit all the content we publish and a nice tall screen is awesome for that.

I probably had my setup for almost as long. 3x30" panels were hugely demanding, heated up the room and didn't do portrait without investing in a bunch of extra hardware. I never did find anything on liked for that. So I ended up playing some games on a single monitor either due to low FPS at high settings or horrible FOV, HUD placement and or scaling problems. Some games did it well and some didn't.

The portrait 3x27" ROG Swift setup was better in that regard. But the shitty viewing angles and bezels super close in for non-gaming work killed it for me.

In contrast the 4K setup works great all the time.
