Here's the presumed list of which 360 games you'll be able to run on your Xbox One after the update hits next week.

If this list is indeed accurate, then fans of the Halo franchise will be overjoyed to know that all of the Xbox 360’s Halo titles will be compatible, as will classics such as BioShock and Saints Row. The list of games has some stunners in it, but also some less likely to get the blood pumping, but until Microsoft announces its list for real, we’ll just have to wait and see how accurate Xbox Dynasty’s offering is.

The remake of the Halo's look pretty badass. I played the original Halo's quite a bit still on the 360. I got the Master Chief "card" and redeemed it on my system and the games look insanely better. Original Halo actually looks like a modern game.

No Red Dead Redemption? Are you fucking kidding me?!

As predicted. it's up to the publisher to play along, and Rockstar wants no part of this crap. Probably has a lot to do with not wanting to steal the thunder from a Red Dead 3 announcement.

This is some pretty slim pickings..but I guess we can't expect MS to actually take care of their customers. Kinda like how Sony screwed everyone when they got rid of backwards compatibility. Nothing like buying the same game 2-3-4 times.

Not sure what Halo remaster has to do with this thread. Xbone emulating 360 =/= remaster

WTH is Sony doing? Oh that's right, nothing. Sometimes I think so many on this forum need a dose of STFU. You get a new architecture and in Sony's case the difference is radical from generation to generation. They can spend time getting every obscure game working or they can work on getting the next best thing.

I heard this wasn't the full list, besides, they are still working on making many more titles available. Remember, Microsoft want's to do this for every title, it's the game publishers that are holding back on some titles.

Shit. With as much shit as this is getting, maybe they just pull the plug on backwards compatibility. You guys are HARD to please. Even if the list was twice as long, you'd be complaining about it missing a few games you want...

The list isn't going to be 100%. It's still emulation, which isn't going to be 100% perfect. It's also up to a lot of third parties to support their games. And, the list will grow as time goes on and they can test and fix games that have issues. Or they could just throw them all up there and listen to you bitch that they don't work perfect...

I like what we have so far. It's a nice addition to the already excellent features of the Xbox One.

Yep. People will complain about anything. They are adding features which nobody ever expected and people still complain.

Exactly. This is pure fan service, something that very few other companies ever do.

Part of this crap? When is backwards compatibility crap? I assume then that you consider backwards compatibility on the PC crap too, right?

I just wish they do something about Xbox 360 Live arcade games. I have a good amount of digital arcade games I bought over the years. I lost hope when they started to remove content from Game Room. I spent good amount of MS point decking out my Game Room :(

The 360 is still supported until like 2020 or something, is it so hard to just keep a 360 around and have both? They go for like $40-50 on Craigslist all day long if it breaks...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA... NG3? You fucking kidding me? If this list is real, it's a lame ass list, for sure.

It's almost certainly not emulation which is why it is limited to only select games. Even a modern, $5000 gaming PC doesn't have enough power to emulate the XBox 360; the XBox One's CPU certainly doesn't have the power (and it's not a matter of understanding the architecture; it is a sheer clockspeed problem; just emulating the Playstation 2 takes a powerful PC).

I suspect that they are most likely recompiling the games against a shim library; something more again to how Winelib lets you compile Windows programs for *nix operating systems.

Hmm. Needs more Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Or I need HDMI hub so it's more convenient to just turn on the 360 to play those. One or the other.

First generation of the PS3 had full hardware compatibility with ALL ps1 and PS2 games. I own one, still works perfectly fine. It's a fantastic thing to have. Sony probably could have done the same thing with the PS4, but profits come first, gotta squeeze as much of that out of us as possible.

yeah no rpgs
was hoping for infinite undiscovery since i just finally started it.
terrible list...but i still have several 360's laying around.

Yea I'm kinda hoping that more arcade games will come though over time. I'd really like to see battlefield 1943 although I don't see that happening.

Playstation 1 and 2 have much lower TDPs and costs of manufacture; therefore it is possible to include the CPUs for both in the same console.

How would you propose that Sony include a Cell processor in the PS4? It has a 100W TDP and would probably add $100-$150 to the cost of the console when you include the extra cooling it would require.

Tell me about it my core i3 laptop struggles to run PCSX2 with Shadow Hearts.

Sony needs to implement this shit, there's really no reason they shouldn't be able to emulate PS3 on the PS4

Write a heartfelt letter to their engineers explaining how easy it is.

Not surprising at all. Emulating a console like the 360, entirely in SW, on a CPU that isn't significantly more powerful then the one that was in the 360 to start with, was going to be limited to just a handful of titles that can be emulated well. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone; you can't brute force emulation like that.

it's going to be tough for sure. At least for the PS5 the PS4 will hopefully be reasonably easy to emulate.
Easier than the xbox one which uses the embedded ram that may or may not make it into the next console and will probably make emulation suck.

To be honest the only backward compatibility I wanted with the xbox one was the controllers. There's not really a good reason we can't use 360 controllers on the xbox one. Sure it's missing a couple vibrators, but that's it. I'm all for the new controller(s), but supporting 360 controllers would have been easy and saved me $150+. Given how it's slower than the PS4, that $150 difference might have won a lot of existing customers over.

I just wish they would have named the buttons start and select or back or options. it is so hard to yell out "hit the triple line button!" or "hit the double box button then hit triple line to get to your settings menu"
