Can't change multiplier on MSI z97 Guard Pro w/ i5 4690k

THe only overclocking option it gives me are the OC genie ones which changes it to 40 or the stock settings. If i disable the OC genie option, multiplier is not grayed out but it it simply won't let me change it to anything other than auto. I've had the processor on an asus motherboard and it ran stable at 4.5 GHz, it has never let me change it on this board even after upgrading to the latest bios.
 
Reset CMOS and try again.. also check if you can update BIOS, in last instance reseat the CPU and be sure that doesn't exist any bent pin..
 
I had the same issue with an MSI Z97 board but I can't for the life of me remember what fixed it. I know it was a setting, I'll think about it for a bit and see if I can remember it, it was very frustrating.

Found the problem:

You can only change it using the +/- keys on the keypad, not the ones next to backspace.
