Fallout Shelter

I eliminate rooms I no longer need ... the older resource rooms were destroyed a long time back to make room for the ability rooms (I do keep one Greenhouse and Water Purification plant for the storage capacity though) ... I have just started culling the ability rooms (to reduce my power consumption) that I don't need any more ... unfortunately I am stuck with my living quarters wherever I built them (since with 200 population I can't destroy any) but all other rooms will get destroyed and moved around as needed as I gradually max out more dwellers ... since I am starting to send out the hoards into the Wasteland again I will likely be building more Med bays (for Stim storage) and more store rooms (for weapon and outfit storage so I can sell off what I don't need) ... if my folks can find some good stuff I will start the elimination of 6 damage weapons next (I have purged all weapons with 5 minimum or less damage now)

I can't figure out how to eliminate rooms. I try and no matter what the room is or its configuration, it says it can't be deleted because it's connected to two rooms.
EDIT: I take it back, it appears a patch fixed the issue at some point. Alas, I may have designed myself into corners making elimination of rooms very difficult.

You have to start at an edge and work your way in ... any room with a connection on both sides cannot be deleted ... if it is only connected on the left or right side then you can delete it

My maxing efforts are hitting critical mass ... I have 52 maxed dwellers working production and the radio room ... I have 33 maxed dwellers exploring (so far no luck with Legendaries at the National Guard Depot but only three have hit it ... seems like there are some rares and high end weapons in their inventories though ... I haven't made it through all 33 of them yet) ... will send out 2 more for an even 35 explorers and then start staffing production rooms again (I have an unstaffed Greenhouse and an Unstaffed Purification Plant) ... after that I will have to build more rooms ... I have been destroying my smaller ability rooms and hopefully will be able to take out a few of the big ones late in the week or early next week

I have three triple Nuka Cola Plants fully staffed with maxed SPECIAL dwellers, 4 triple nuclear reactors, 1 double nuclear reactor, and the triple radio room (52 dwellers total) ...

All stats maxed, or just the ones relevant to the room?

Yea, I'm starting to cull the herd of rooms right now. I had two scavengers hit the 60 hr event and come back with some pretty good items (well they are on the way back) with +6 stat points in 3 or 4 areas. Will be a good piece of armor for another lvl 50 scavenger.
Unfortunately I hit a bug where, for some reason, one day had a 6% approval. 94-95-96-6-97. SO weird.

All stats ... I have been in development mode for awhile ... all my dwellers who aren't already maxed are in one of the SPECIAL enhancement rooms.

I did finally get something from the Depot ... it wasn't a legendary but it was an enhanced Gauss rifle (16-18 damage) ... it will be awhile before the dweller who found it makes it back though.since I haven't recalled him yet

I have gotten a few more items from the Depot so you definitely can find stuff there, the percentage is just very low (latest find was an Enhanced Gatling LASER for low 20s damage) ... latest stats (I am definitely running out of stuff to do):

Maxed SPECIAL dwellers - 127 (39 of them are exploring Wasteland, rest are in production and radio rooms)
Weapons found - 88/139
Outfits found - 74/90
caps - 550,000
Power - 8000 units
Food - 1350 units
Water - 1350 units
STIMs - 115
RadAway - 25

a lot of my dwellers are on their last SPECIAL room rotation and I have been demolishing SPECIAL rooms more each day (down to one Luck room, one Strength room, one Endurance room, two Agile, three Perception, three Intelligence, and two Charisma) ... now I am working on happiness ... production folks are all maxed so I need to swap them out with explorers on next rotation to bring up the explorers' happiness ... I will also send out one extra explorer to get to even 40 (I am in process of purging all weapons with less than 8 minimum damage for dwellers) :D

I got some stuff from the depot too. The "Miss Launcher" and a special chaingun.
But I've been slacking off on my checking in. I've kind of stopped caring since it's now becoming more and more of the same with no real point. I mean, what happens when I have a vault full of well-equipped, lvl50 SPECIAL-maxed dwellers?

That's where I'm at. It was fun building things up, but now what?

If they don't add more end game content then there is nothing more ... I have been continuing to buff my dwellers in the hope that they will add more content for iOS users after the Android launch on the 13th ... right now I have literally nothing to do other than buff and explore ... I should have all 200 dwellers fully buffed (all 10s for each SPECIAL) by mid to late August and by that point my dwellers should all have 10 min weapons or higher ... if they don't add content by then I will need to mothball my game and wait for FO4

I suggested on the Bethesda forum that they should include the Fallout Shelter game as either an Easter Egg or DLC for FO4 ... they could have an arcade machine that you could find and your dweller could play it to begin a Fallout Shelter game ... as an Easter Egg they would just need to remove the IAP and fix some of the memory issues ... as DLC they would need to remove the IAP and add a lot more content ... we'll see if they have any interest in stuff like that

Yeah, started to get bored weeks ago. Once you realize "this is it", well, that's it.

New patch out today with bug fixes and other changes ... also, the Android release is out as well

Notable changes include new attackers on the vault ... mole rats attack inside (haven't seen that one yet) and Deathclaws attack the entrance ... the first attack by Deathclaws made it down three levels before I killed all of them and killed two lower level dwellers ... I have now done some rearranging on my vault and have two permanent entrance guards and 6 well armed dwellers in the first room after the entrance ... we'll see if I can take them down more effectively now

Also, completed upgrading SPECIAL on all 200 dwellers and have purged all weapons with less than 10 damage ... we'll see if there are any other new features with the patch ... the patch does seem to be a little more stable as well

Interesting. It makes you level up everyone, not just the stats a person needs for a specific room. I'll also need to start SPECIAL leveling those specialists...

Which is all well and good, but to what end?

It does at least indicate they are willing to add some new content ... who knows if they will do another patch and add more content again (they seem to be making money off this marketing experiment so I suspect they will) ... they didn't do much with the Wasteland portion (as far as I can tell) except color code the inventory so it is easier to see how many rares or legendaries you have

OOOOH they also added a robot butler to reduce checkin times. YAY!

Unfortunately he is a purchasable item ... not sure if you can get him from a lunchbox also ... his value does seem a little limited (unless there are some settings on him since I have yet to see him spontaneously change levels) ... I haven't been attacked internally yet to see if he helps with that though

Ew. No. But fair I suppose.
That said, the patch notes indicate deathclaw and/or molemen attacks are at least in part caused by construction.

lost interest at 160 dwellers at 87% happy. Once I had big guns guarding my door and every dweller equipped with a 4+ gun it became a grind. Fun for the weekly check in lunch boxes, but the "goals" became too lengthy to really complete (like putting out 80 something fires...that takes a long time and a lot of room rushing for a reward of 200 caps).

Fun game and I totally recomend it to the android people now that it's on that platform, but I hope they add more to it over time.

it would have been better if this tied into fallout 4 If i had designed the game it would have been out on psv and windows and android first no micro trans except maybe mass revive, max resources or random inhabitant.

The vault you make and run if you choose to do so becomes the vault in Fallout 4 If you play it well enough you can have some things show up in the vault in game like if you get named weapons you might be able to find them in your vault somewhere.

I wish fo4 was out now rather than this pos mobile game...

Well, this is the first mobile app from Bethesda so they are still learning the intricacies of that technology ... the PIP Boy app that comes out with FO4 should be more robust if they leverage the learnings from the FOS app

That app is not supposed to do that much though basically it supposedly can do everything the pipboy in game does so stats, inventory, mapping, ect

it will depend how it is implemented and how real time it is but I also imagine it will churn through data non issue as it should be wifi and as a xml numbers only type deal but still I see a lag time between the pc and it and it will turn out to be pure novelty.

I was thinking in terms of compatibility and performance ... some of the phones/tablets using FOS have been experiencing crashes over time, catastrophic crashes, and other problems ... even though the PIP Boy app is simple and just essentially a second screen type app for the PIP Boy info, it still needs to run without crashing ... this is where I think they will benefit from their FOS efforts (learning where they have created memory holes and other issues)

Like many people on the Bethesda forums, it appears my save file has been corrupted (likely due to my 5S being powered off or FOS force closed while it was trying to save).

I can load up my vault but about 30 seconds into playing it tries to save which causes it to crash.

That sucks. Try reinstalling?

Many apparently have (I haven't). According to those that have, you lose your vault and then the bug is likely to reoccur. At this point it seems better not to reinstall and hope a patch can remedy the situation. Apparently when this happens the save file size is 0 kb but when I first load up my vault, it's there and everything appears normal. It just isn't capable of saving itself again.

Very strange. And unfortunate. I have started three vaults (one aborted attempt on iOS where everyone died), my main vault on IOS (200 strong), and a short test on Android for funsies. No problems.
Knock on wood

This game. Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis gaaaaaaaaaaaame.

It's ruining my life! It's Angry Birds all over again. Need more powa scotty. Never enough damn power.

One thing that annoys me with this game (and a lot of other games in general that do this) is that you cannot start with a clean layout.

Or at least I haven't found a way to. Maybe if I force kill the first two dwellers I can delete the first living room?

Getting rid of the first living quarters isn't too hard as long as you do it before you reach 200 dwellers (the max) ... build another living quarters somewhere else so you have extra dweller allowance and then you can delete living quarters in other locations ... getting rid of the first elevator is much tougher (but I have adjusted to it in that location right after the entrance)

Should have been more specific and included the elevator. Right now my starts have all included moving that first living quarters as from what I understand it'd make more sense to have constantly populated rooms first to bulwark against attacks.

What I wanted to do was a layout like this for the first floor -
vault door-3 x rooms-2 x rooms-elevator

Not sure if that is possible. Although it might not be that important given how NPC attack AI works in practice since I believe they just transition floor to floor anyways?

Also it makes me waste 200+ credits every start due to needing to delete 2/4 rooms.

All I have to say about this game is that the production rush probability defies the stated probability. A 30% chance of incident seems to be closer to a 60% chance of incident. A 50% chance of incident is closer to a 80% chance of incident.

This game sucks.

Every time I log back in, it starts a new game.

Horrible game.

Yeah, the amount of time it fails at like 26% seems to defy all reason.

My only criticism of Fallout Shelter, so far, is when there is a threat (Raider, Deathclaw, Molerat, Fire, couples dancing, etc) the game automatically zooms into the room where the threat is taking place. I don't want the game to do that. I want to be able to move people from adjacent rooms to the threat quickly without having to first zoom back out.

Other than that one gripe, I'm loving the game a lot. :)

Tried Fallout Shelter when it was first released, wasn't convinced, but recently reinstalled it and tried again. 28 dwellers now and just unlocked training rooms so its one huge slog at getting dweller's stats up. Got a few good ones in lunchboxes so that helps, have sent them out exploring.

Any tips for increasing dwellers? Radio doesn't seem to bring in anyone, babies born have terrible stats. Quest rewards seem to be all caps now, no more luncboxes.

1- Breed breed breed.
2- Train train train.

That's it. You can get mid-level dwellers (in terms of stats) from lunchboxes or the radio (make sure to staff the radio with high-C dwellers), but generally anyone you acquire will have crap stats.

14 dwellers, 10% happiness, low on all resources. Man, I am not good at this game... At all.

14 dwellers, 10% happiness, low on all resources. Man, I am not good at this game... At all.

Happiness goes down slowly but they need to do one of several different things to increase:

1. Breed - Both of the members who get it on in the living quarters will increase by 25%
2. Work in a room they are proficient at (assign them to a room that matches their stats ... high strength in power plant, etc) ... their happiness will gradually increase over time ... stat modifying gear counts in this preference
3. Radio room increases happiness ... you get a slight boost for everyone working in the room ... assign multiple people to room to increase happiness (you will lose the boost if you move them out though)
4. Dying or dead bodies in the room decrease happiness ... if you resurrect someone then you need to take active measures to increase their happiness
