This isn't your normal "destroy an iPhone in stupid ways" video, even though that is what it is supposed to be. After watching this painfully awkward video, I ended up being rather impressed with the iPhone 6S durability, all things considered.

"This shows how horrible that stuff (bromine) is for you."

Jesus FUCK the "DERP!" is strong in that one...

Yes, large scale exposure to liquid bromine is probably not very healthy for you OR your phone.

DUH?

I like how it's obvious that the cameraidiot doesn't seem to expect a reaction like what happens. Who gave these idiots bromine?

I heard Apple's next software update will defend the phone against liquid bromine.

I just had to post this one, I mean normally iPhone destruction videos are great....this guy, his retarded reactions AND the fact that the iPhone held up pretty well makes this whole thing a FAIL.

Do people make money on these videos somehow? It's just seems stupid to spend $800 for something just to destroy it. Are they just trying to buy sad small scale internet fame?

$800? Try $1600. He did this twice - the first time failed. I was hoping it would blow up in his face. What a moron.

I'll never understand why people like you think it's so great to destroy (insert any damn thing here) in the first place. Very rarely are there any scientific or worthwhile observations to be gained. It's simply a pointless waste of a formerly useful device.

Scientific gains are not a requirement for entertainment.

Because why not?

The screen is made of glass... of course it will come out looking unscathed.

Stupid way to do an iphone tear up video. And I wouldn't say it shows the phone "holding up well" since glass is unreactive with bromine. Any brand phone with a glass touchscreen (all the touchscreen phones) will come out looking the same.

I saw one where the guy boiled a new iphone 6s - right out the package stickers still on it - pulls them off drops into boiling water - 2 second later screen goes boop.

They're hoping the youtube revenue will double their investment. I remember when this craze took off with SmashMyiPod then SmashMy360 and SmashMyPS3, those guys made tons of money doing this shit.

"Be very careful because this stuff is hella dangerous and reactive."
Watch as idiot handles the bromine bottle with bare hands, has no shielding or remote "pouring" device, and has no chemical fire extinguisher/sand to tame a lipo fire

I have to agree, the thing looks great with the etching on it.

That was my first thought as well. Its too bad the the phone no longer works. Im sure there is a way to get a similar look without destroying the phone but Im not gonna try it.

A YouTuber with nearly 3,000,000 viewers, who likely rakes in a 7 figure salary, as a result?

Yup, looking the videos on the youtube page, it appears they destroy at least 1 iPhone a week. So they are making enough money from these videos to keep going at this.

Someone get this genius some hydrofluoric acid and watch the hilarity ensue.

This, although I wouldn't agree with his salary figure (it's probably a lot lower), he probably makes a lot more from the videos than his cost of an iphone or 2 a week are.

Entertainment value.

Brand New WhateverPhone? $600~ish

Time wasted standing in line overnight to be "the first" or nearly the first in line, ensuring you get one? (Based on my billable rate): $4000.

The look on people's faces as you come out with your highly prized super-widget (that they're all standing in line for) and then proceed to beat it into a pile of scrap and then burn rubber over its remnants?

PRICELESS!

Nah. Douse it in a bucket full of liquid oxygen, then have someone toss in a lit match...

Nah. It was funnier when the news lady was interviewing the very first customer in the city about his new phone and as he opens the packaging, the phone flies out, hits the ground, and has a giant crack in the screen. :D
