I was looking for a deal on rocket league and came across this. I've been debating on picking up the steam controller anyways so this just sealed the deal when I was about to spend $20 on rocket league anyways.

You get both HL2 and Rocket League, even if you own both. So can gift them out. Pretty hot deal I'd say.

Now it's Rocket League and Portal2 (which is even better than a HL2, imo).

If you dont own rocket league, it automatically activates in your steam library and you cannot sell/trade it away.

The Steam Controller lets you play your entire collection of Steam games on your TV—even the ones designed without controller support in mind.

Why would anyone want to play a game specifically designed for M/KB with a gamepad? That sounds like a disaster.

So you can lounge on your couch without a keyboard nearby. With Steam in home streaming I can use my XBOX 360 controller to control my PC in the other room. So yes, it's worthwhile for the convenience factor alone. You should try it someday. ;)

It's honestly a really nice addition to my gaming rig.

What about those that preordered it months in advanced for early release?

Maybe the "without controller support" is more akin to a keyboard only game, perhaps it's super easy to rebind the controller to certain keys i.e. aswd to left-down-up-right? Plus it looks like one that pad on the right might be similar to a touchpad on a laptop, I dunno though.

That said, wireless using AA batteries? Pass. 5 meter range? I'm guessing that distance is a straight line of sight distance so walls and what not cut that down severely. I don't live in an apartment, and while my house isn't huge my computer is more than 5 meters away from my living room TV.

Nothing for those it seems, you get to use it a whole 3 weeks earlier though!

Yes I agree. It did give me HL2 at first, but now that I check, it switched it to Portal2. When I finished checking out there was an error receiving the games, and had to wait a few mins for Rocket League to show up. Now I know why.

It states you can choose to receive it as a gift copy. Which you could then sell.

Already own Rocket League or Portal 2? Get gift-copies to give to a friend.

It does not deliver it as a gift copy, you do not have the choice to choose. It is only delivered as a gift copy if you already have Rocket League in your library. I purchased the preorder september 1st, and this deal was the reason. I aimed to get the pre-order and sell my Rocket League copy. But since I did not own it, it was placed directly to my library.

First hand experience here, but interpret the wording as you like.

I am really liking it for the most part. Been playing Rocket League for the first time with it to get used to the controller more than anything else, and now I'm getting addicted to the game. I haven't had a lot of experience with the the last few generations of controllers, so I'm not fighting some ingrained muscle memory. Not sure if its better or worse than them, but I think its pretty dang good for the stated use. Couch potato PC gaming.
