RAM may be becoming cheaper to buy but sales haven’t gone up, and this article suggests that manufacturers will likely suffer in the long run.

…a recent study from DRAMeXchange showed that SO-DIMM module prices keep falling every few months, with just a 3% price reduction for 4GB DDR4 SO-DIMMs from August to September, while an even greater reduction occurred from May to August of 4.76%. These sort of numbers add up over time, and show how badly affected were the hardware manufacturers this year…

hard to feel sympathy after all that price gouging after the shortage.

Well, I plan on grabbing 16 gb of DDR4 as soon as I build me new rig. Time is right.

RAM prices dropping? Well then, queue the planned factory accident in 3...2...

good, now skylake prices need to drop. they actually have been going up here in austria :(

Just built a skylake based system about a fortnight back since I got this nice little deal from newegg:
ASRock Z170 Extreme7+ Motherboard + 16GB (2 x 8GB) CORSAIR Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory $309.98

All together the price came to about 1200$ (https://pchound.com/ZyHcvy/)- though I'd say DDR4 is still a little too expensive since it is new in the market. I really like the 6600K though, easy overclock to 4.4GHz without a lot of hassles.
your link was messed up,

Still can't find 24GB (6x4GB) for less than $90, which is what I paid for that exact amount back in 2011. Sorry, they may be coming down but as a consumer RAM prices still kinda suck.

Still kicking myself for not jumping on that. Something else will turn up soon enough though. This has been such a weird chip release, lots of hype from review sites but few chips available to hear how users feel about it(6700k that is). This will inevitably be the platform I upgrade to.

Good, I'd like to buy enough to get both boxes to 96gb+ :D

"Although these are in the end good news for the customer, it isn’t however for the manufacturer, since he’ll end up selling high-end pieces of technology for bread crumbs and will go broke. This issue will in turn affect other manufacturers, and will eventually lead to a larger domino effect that will risk endangering the entire South-Asian market."

Give me a freaking break. So, when we could buy 32 GB of DDR3 ram back in 2012, why didn't everything fall apart then? Sometimes, I think the final conclusions are not very well thought out.

32GB of ram back in 2012 for $110 I meant.

Call me when they get back to 2011 levels. I remember buying 8 gigs in March for what I thought was a good price but it was literally 50% lower just a few months later. It was crazy.

this can't be for personal use only, right?
